After playing Doom VFR (a terrible VR game) and having had previous bad experiences with Bethesda games, I just wasn't interested in this game at its usual price.

However, seeing it massively discounted on sale, I finally felt it was worth trying and took the plunge.

It's not all that bad to be honest.

You get; a proper VR bow, passable VR Melee, and small things like physically crouching to crouch ingame, etc. The standard movement and turning options are there. So far pretty competent.

That said much of the rest of the game is the standard Skyrim experience, which honestly is for the best - the immersion could always be better, but with the amount of containers and loot to pickup, I think the loot-things-from-a-distance feature makes a lot of sense. That said its pretty enjoyable just mooching around the world and seeing things close up.

Modding is doable, which surprised me somewhat; many mods that work for the SSE version of the game also work on the VR version, and there are many VR-specific mods out there (one of my favourites lets you speak out your dialogue to advance conversations).

Bugs/Bethesda; yes there are bugs, most are ironed out with the unofficial community patch however you'll still probably want to download a couple of mods to handle the flaky UI. I wouldn't play this game vanilla, much like standard Skyrim.

I'm going to give it a reluctant thumbs up, because while it really isn't worth the normal price of admission, its Skyrim in VR, and that's pretty cool ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm actually considering getting Fallout VR now, someone stop me please
