Starting FallOutNV again. Any RECOMMENDED MODS?
Well, yeah I decided to download FONV again. The first time I wasn't really into the game and barely made any progress. But, now I'd figured I'd give the game a chance.

As I stated above, is there any RECOMMENDED mods that I should add in the game? Especially, mods that require something like FNIS. But, from what I hear, FONV doesnt require anything like that. So, just making sure.

Also, is there any ultra realistic textures to beautify the game? Probably one of the first mods I am looking into.

Thanks again guys.

That, yes.
For textures, Ojo Bueno or Poco Bueno, or the good and old NMC texture pack. But don't try them under 8GB system memory and at least AMD FX 8xxx or Core i5 45xx.
But there are many more textures on the Nexus and you can sort the Textures folder there by endorsements or download numbers to see what is considered popular/good.

Oh. It's a decent laptop for gaming. So knock yourself out with mods. Since your laptop can handle it, you can go three routes.
One is simply installing NVEC (New Vegas Enhanced Content), that is an amalgam of like 300 mods – bug fixes and new content alike. Play it some, try some of the new quests, and use its Nexus page to look up which were the mods you liked from it. Because NVEC by itself is terrible, but it has so many type of mods it's easier to try it as a whole and decide what you want based on it.
The second is small steps. Get Project Nevada. Rummage through the animation and texture section of Nexus. Then when you have got at least these working, look for the Mod Configuration Menu at Nexus, which has links to a bunch of other smaller mods. try what you like. Eventually, with careful addition of one mod at a time, you'll find out what you want from the game.
The last is a mix of the two. Browse the Nexus. Look at the Top Files section. Download a few dozen mods, and install them one by one. Try the game after each install (so you don't get instant crashes due to too many mod installs at once). Play the game some, decide what you liked and what you didn't. Wipe the game, reinstall it, and apply some new mods.

Essentially, it is hard to recommend mods, since you can go many ways. Do combat-oriented. Stealth-oriented. Add new quests. Add a ton more guns for fun. Make a scavenger hunt. Try low-kills. Try even more diplomacy. Or just make it pretty to look at. But once you realise what you want, it is quite easy to search for necessary things on Nexus.

Pip Boy Phone 3000 is a great one for some of those back and forth quests that only need you to talk to people.

Another favorite, is the radio station X-1. It fits the mood of the game well.

When you encounter a crash when loading mods use : FNVEdit

For my current character I use Heroes of the Apocalypse.

Hey guys! I appreciate some of the info you are sharing with me for this game.

And, thanks Talgaby. I'll be sure to look into it.

Keep the mods coming. Thanks guys.

If you have Fallout 3, then Tales of Two Wastelands. Lets you play both wastelands (And all dlc :P) by starting you in Fallout 3.

There's a youtube user named Gopher that does series of videos on modding for beginners. They're long, but extremely thorough. You will have a solid understanding of installing and managing mods after watching his stuff. I watched his series on modding fallout new vegas ultimate, and I now have a heavily modded stable game. I didn't use all of the mods he recommends, and I added a bunch he didn't mention. Still, lots of the ones he suggests are really great, and he lets you know what tools and plugins you'll need for modding in general, as well as stability.

Personal recommendations:
Darnified UI
One HUD
Beware of Girl textures and body replacers (women and ghouls)
Breeze's better males (men)
NMC textures
Ojo Bueno
Project Nevada
There's also one that adds a lot of lore-friendly posters and advertisements to the wasteland. I don't remember what it's called, but you'll find it if you search "posters." I like it a lot. Lots of old movie posters and stuff.

Anyway, hope this helps. I played New Vegas when it first came out on console. Just recently decided to make a modded version and run through it on pc. It's pretty great.

Thank You, I will consider watching some of his videos. I have remembered that name "Gopher" before. It's definitely Skyrim related. I think it was maybe about STEP?

Well, since I'm new to PC gaming, I fairly got the hang of modding Skyrim very well, and incorporating certain mods here and there to have a stable game.

On the other hand, trying to mod FallOutNewVegas, seems like it's all new to me again. Considering the fact people are recommending me FOMM. Still learning from that of course.

But, thanks!

I usually overlook things way too much for some reason. So, I'm definitely learning more about FONV Mods.

Hey guys, not sure if anyone is reading this, but with Ojo Bueno. I need the 4GB mod right?

I just realized this last and messed up on something.
Lucas McCain Jun 4, 2015 @ 7:09am
Yes, that would definitely be a good idea. It's pretty easy to set up though.
