Sierra Madre Gold

Have they patched all the possible ways to get the gold out of the Vault ? I've tried everything that was listed but it appears that the shield drops faster than the videos showed and dropping the gold by the door and running to the other side to pick it up has been fixed. Any ideas on how to get the gold out ? I completely hate the fact that I spent all that time doing this dlc and being unable to haul the gold out will most likely make me stop playing this game.

If I Godmode it for unlimited items and run, will it mess up the quest ?

Just get underground hideout/a billion and one other mods that let you teleport out of interiors and voila you have all the gold :) Of course if you just wanna cheat you could always give yourself unlimited carrying capacity I'm sure anyways.

It won't.
For me this trick works, though it must be timed to the split-second:
You get the gold out and put it at the base of the force-field that is the farthest from the elevator, where Elijah can't see you. You report in and tell him to come down, then run like hell to the gold, pick it all up while staying in sneak mode. When he goes past the force-field closer to the elevator, you try to go past. You have to do this the first instant you can without the force-field activating and blocking your way (initiating the fight between you and Elijah). If you get past, then get back up from sneak mode and go to the elevator in the shortest route you can. Your collar will be on a strict time limit.
It usually takes me about two dozen tries to get it: timing the instant you go past your force-field is tricky by itself, but being a tiny bit late results in a boom right before you can click on the elevator.

Trying to play Vanilla without mods or cheats as best as I can. I've only had to console 1 thing so far and that was Veronica's interaction with the Elder not kicking off. If I play again I'll download mods like I did with Skyrim. But this Sierra Madre is just ridiculous, long and gimmicky with no actual rewards besides "the journey". I want my damn gold :P

EDIT : K, I will try the above suggestion (I posted at the same time I spose)

EDIT #2 : That won't work either because the door closes as soon as you go inside. So you can't pick up the gold and go outside until after you go through the options to have Elijah come down.

I love how the DLC is about letting go and that greed kills, but yet everyone is trying to figure out ways to take all the gold.

Muahaha I got it. Was finally able to initiate the conversation with Elijah and immediately use a stealth boy and walk to the doorway before the force field appeared.

Then I was paranoid about walking back to Novac with 2000 pounds of gear dragging behind me. took forever but I only ran (crawled) into some Geckos. Then it took 4-5 trips with companions to transport it to the Lucky 38 where it's now safely stored in my locker. Ahhh. Gold. Greed and persistance paid off, to hell with the moral of the story :P

i know you finally got it

but you do not want to use a cheat or mod,yet using an exploit to get what they game did not intend you to do/have is okay? that is still cheating

the logic in it all lol

and your not trying to cheat but you want to take all the gold and you where not meant to,but you want to play vanilla?

This reminds me of when people would play Oblivion and use the paint brush glitch to reach areas they're not supposed to, and do it for hours. Paintbrushes didn't have any gravity setting or something, so if you drop them they'd stay in the air around the waist of the character, and you could jump up on top of a paintbrush, put down another one, jump on that, etc. It would take incredible amount of patience and effort to get somewhere with that. When you could just, you know, 'tcl' in 5 seconds and check it out and move on with life. If you are really trying to go somewhere the game didn't intend for you to go, why torture yourself? For the lulz? I don't get it. But then, I'm a busy guy so maybe people have loads of time to kill.

Well, using a stealthboy and sneaking to the far door as he opens the shields and going through it sounds like a valid trick, seeing as you are trying to trick him into locking himself into the vault. I was able to make it while being overburdened, without using godmode or mods so yea, I don't feel bad about it.

You do realise that these games are on consoles too, with no way to get any ingame console? Or maybe they were routing for speedruns.

What I don't get is why someone playing the console version would be on Steam about it.

yeb it is the moral of the story and i thought i am the only one who liked the idea (that they told you the hard part is to let go and then put so much gold in the end )
