Are you using Notepad++? If not, download that and use that to read the file instead and it'll make a lot more sense, and it will be a lot easier to make the appropriate changes.

I can't seem to find any lines starting with the "+LWClasses" bit that he mentioned.Is this supposed to be in the .ini file XComGameCore in the MyGames/Xcom2 Locale?

No, XComGameCore.ini is in steam installation folder. You could find it in here:
SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\872274632\Config\

delete the "+" lines from XComGameCore.ini，every LW2 class is back without problem.

+LWClasses="LWS_Shinobi"
+LWClasses="LWS_Sharpshooter"
+LWClasses="LWS_Ranger"
+LWClasses="LWS_Gunner"
+LWClasses="LWS_Grenadier"

+LWClasses="LWS_Technical"

I suggest download a Notepad++ as well. And dont forget backup files first.

I removed the lines with "+LWClasses" in XComGameCore.ini within the SOClasses_LW2 subfolder of this mod (file contents are exactly the same as @Forest_noir's file). I was mid-campaign when I did this. I've had maybe 3-4 more rookies get promoted and none into the original LW2 1.4 classes. They were already infiltrating when I modded the code.

Will this take time to start promoting to original LW2 classes? Or have I stuffed something up by deleting the specified lines of code mid-campaign?

You have to remove the whole line or put a ; in front of it like this:
;+LWClasses=“LWS_Assault“
Do that for all LW classes you want to have available.

Commenting out the +LWClasses lines only seemed to make the classes available in the GTS to train rookies. I have yet, in six liberated provinces, to have any soldiers roll any of the original LW2 classes. Those that I do have were trained in the GTS.

No, commenting the lines out should do the trick, at least that was the case before WotC. How many soldiers did you get since then? Maybe it is just bad rng...

My barracks is well over 100. I've had to do it a few times since I found the mod for some reason, it keeps resetting. I started this campaign with the mod, and those changes, for the record.

This is also only LW2, I am not playing WOTC.

then the delete the lines , wich honestly isnt any different from doing a ; before +LWClass but maybe it works for you , because i can confirm that commenting them out in the XcomGameCore.ini works , atleast for me and others
