[Idea] Ore yield vary between Planets and Space
Its to big for a Comment, so i start a Discussion here (:

Uff woow thats cool. I already thought about a mod like that, glad it exists. But i have something else in mind. There is pretty quick a point reached in the game where you can do/build everything you want because you already found all the ores. It is realistic that you can find any ore on the planets and space. But this means that you dont need to move much in Multiplayer. You mostly only move to explore or to Fight others. So what i think is a good idea to get the players to move more, expand more and therefore interact more with others is to dont make the Ores rare but what its containing.

Let me explain: Think of Uranium on the earth like Planet, if you find it then you will get from 1KG Ore a maximum of like 0.05L Uranium. But if you find it for example on the Alien planet then you get from 1KG a maximum of 3L. So you can still find every ore on every point of space or planet but the amount of ingots you can refine vary heaviely. Thats unrealistic, but this would bring several new mechanics to the game. Those who live on or near the Alien Planet will probably mostly run on Reactors and can fire a hell of Missiles. While those from the Earth like planet can build much bigger ships because the Iron ore is more rich or those from the icy moon can use more hydrogen because the ice there contains more hydrogen.. and those from mars... etc.. This means that the player now chooses his play style by choosing a planet to start on. And if he wants bigger ships then he needs to trade with those from the earth like planet. And they definitly will want the Uranium, because they are lacking it so hard. Do you understand my idea? Thats a idea that needs alot of thinking. I just thought i share it here, you already did a good job.

Sorry my not checking Discussions, I don't get any Steam notification when people post here (it works best if you post here and leave a link to it in the page comments thread).

So like I think this is already somewhat integrated in vanilla SE. For example, AFAIK, the Earthlike planet doesn't have any Uranium at all, one of the moons (Europa?-like) doesn't have hardly any stone, just lots and lots of ice (lots of hydrogen~), and none of the moons have gas (no atmospheric thrusters; O2 on the moon-moon is hard to come by; etc.).

As per ratios, the only way that could really be accomplished would be by creating new recipes and new ore types, "rich uranium", "sparse uranium" etc.

I think the vanilla way of doing it (simply not having certain types on some planets, with others literally in infinite abundance) basically accomplishes this goal. Though your method would be a much more realistic implementation of it, assuming the game designers don't simply automate dense/sparse ores into their engine in code, it would require dozens of hours of alterations and testing.

As I already have had a hard time updating my mod to ore-focused updates (i.e. as for the last survival overhaul, I still have about 20% of the ores that need re-tinkered with), were I to add 3x as many ores, I'd probably not be able to keep up. Plus it wouldn't work on custom planets.

That said, there are actually a lot of unique engineering challenges already built into the different planets/moons.
