Area of Recruitment Guide
Basic Information
- In DeI, certain units are only able to be recruited in certain regions.
- Basic AoR units for all factions are recruited through the main city building line and are available to any faction that owns the specific region for that troop type.
- Rome's special Auxiliaries require Marian or Imperial Reforms. In pre-Marian reforms, Rome's auxiliary barracks will recruit Italian allied troops.

- Requires Roman Auxiliary Barracks and Marian or Imperial Reforms for most units. Units that exist in all reforms are marked by the letter regions.

- All factions have access to the following mercenary units. Carthage and Egypt have special factional mercenaries that they can recruit anywhere.

One thing it might be important to clarify is if the Flag units or the No-Flag units are AOR.

After latest update, im not able to hire some AOR units such as Campanians, not as Rome nor as Epirotes even though i control area where they should be avaible. AI seems to be able to hire them. Why cant i?

AI has the same recruitment AOR as the player.

amazing mod and feature. just curious as to the reason why there is a maximum cap to the amount of foreign units you can recruit? is the reasoning for more diverse gameplay or is it more historical? i believe the capis 8 or 10.

I have a gerneral question even when it does not belong here . How do i know when a smaller settelment have walls are there some special regions or is it the ''fortified'' building chain

Only Knossos is a small settlement with walls, all others are provincial capitals. This was done to fix a missing battle map bug.

What is meant by "dominant culture"? Does it need to be 100%?

That is no longer a requirement in the mod since we have the population system now. I will update the guide.

Thank you, I just was a bit confused (euphemism for dumb, i suppose) but now I have figured it out. Also had to do with the reforms wich I didn't understand, but then saw the YOUTUBE GUIDE... All good now! Thanks again! This is the most amazing mod for a TW game i have ever seen, and it ever beats the Master of Strategy mod for shogun 2 slightly for first place!

Hello, when I played as Epirus, I found that I couldn't recruit Spartan Thorax Hoplites , although I had finished the Thorax reform. It still remind me that I need reform level.
