Suggestions
From Dave:

"It isn't realistic to balance the arena (an early scene) with a minigun weilding troll, imho. I haven't seen the equipment lists (I know they're Dragonfalls, but dunno how/where they're implemented.

It may just be a matter of pulling out some of the early tier gear until you escape the caryard. While it's possible to grind up to couple hundred karma there, it shouldn't be balanced expecting you to do so.

Enemy scaling does not exist in this mod (yet? Possible ever?) Neither does crew scaling.

Do certainly appreciate the suggestions/playthru notes though. (I suspect this post will sound very critical, but it really isn't.).

Might I suggest creating a thread for your suggestions? They're easier to track & respond to that way."

1. I'm referring to the last 2 two enemies in the arena, not the earlier ones. The troll decker in the SNES is nearly impossible to defeat unless you have the assault rifle that you can only get after defeating Jester Spirit. In this version, I can defeat this troll decker with just a rifle that I buy from the Old Town Shop.

2. I've did some grinding by entering all rooms with enemies and make sure to have enough karma before entering the caryards. My point here is did you want player to grind like hell just to pass the heavy dudes? how about those who enter the caryards without proper preparation. I think it's better to nerf the dudes but buff the other enemies. make sure the player at least can leave the caryards without having difficult times. (only need to pass the dudes)

3. I don't understand this part.

btw, I have a suggestion about the template for the baddies:
- Tenth Street: Fichetti Security 500, Beretta Model 70, Street Sweeper, AK-97,Baseball Bat. Their ranged/close combat should be 2 with no specialization of weapon skill (this will disable them from doing extra damage from their weapon)
- Old Town: Ceska Black Scorpion, Uzi III, Benelli Rafaello, Semopal vz/88V, Machete. Ranged/Closed Combat: 3
- Downtown: Ares Predator, Ingram Smartgun, Mossberg CMDT, Heckler & Koch G12A3z, Heckler & Koch G12A3z, Katana. Ranged/Close Combat: 4

PC's spells (fireball especially) - seem pretty underpowered on the Aneki level - maybe if visiting the dog shine after Drakes Volcano? or have upgrade spells as 'loot' for killing the Drake boss?
ConTraZVII Apr 2, 2018 @ 12:08pm
That's a good idea. Stealing Drake's fire breath and adept it as Fireball III

@Dean Amx - nice! shame Jester spirit doesnt have a thunder spell we can steal :P jokes aside - definitely like your take on that idea

Some interesting spells you can get as a loot after defeating a boss:
- Mind Wipe/Blindness: A spell that Dog gives after you defeated the Rat Shaman. Target ignores all enemies. Lasts 2 rounds. Require: Spellcasting 3.
- Powerbolt 2/Manabolt 2: Jester Spirit
- Flamethrower/Fireball 2: Drake

Didn't get to run a balance pass yet, but at least I got some changes in
- Cheat to allow players to get their shops back in sync even if they already passed the trigger points
- AK98, Uzi, and Benelli are available from the Tenth Street Business man.
- Return visitors to the OT Weapon shop, can open the shop interface with fewer clicks. (You need to go the long way at least once)
- Updated Doc M's inventory. It updates twice as you progress through the adventure.
- Fixed Slim so you can't buy his contact multiple times as well as other conversation fixes.

I'm plannning to play through to the arena without spending any karma on weapon skills and then testing the fights with the different starter weapons... Then I'll be able to figure out the proper balance (I hope)
ConTraZVII Apr 3, 2018 @ 5:20am
Thanks! I will test for balance!

1. That's help!
2. Why give the Uzi and Benelli? They're stronger. Basic weapons should be Fichetti Security 500 (the player got from the dead guy), Beretta Model 70 (please replace it with Uzi), Street Sweeper (Please replace it with Benelli), and please add Baseball Bat. Someone needs a proper melee. Maybe you should remove the Rebar as well.
3. Thanks. That's better.
4. Alright. That's cool.
5. Slim?

The new patch is not updated. How can I retry to update?

UPDATE: It's solved.

OK, I've tried this version and these are my comments:

1. TENTH STREET

Like I said before, you should replace Uzi with Beretta Model 70, Benelli with Street Sweeper since they are cheaper and likely more "basic" guns than those. Would you mind if you increase a bit the nuyen you can get from enemies since it's really hard to collect nuyen to buy those weapons. For the balance, maybe you should equip the baddies with basic weapons like:
- Fichetti Security 500
- Beretta Model 70
- Street Sweeper
- AK-98
- Baseball Bat

It may clear now where they got those weapons (jk). Btw, the model of the businessman shows holding an AK but it disappears after you learn the Lone Star word.

2. CARYARDS

Since you will update them probably next Monday, I have my proposal:

2.1 GANG MEMBER
*Problem: Sleep all the time.
*Difficulty with minimal grinding in EASY mode (Minimal Grinding: Enter all baddies rooms and kill them all in Tenth Street once): Easy

2.2 HEAVY DUDE
*Problem: Too hard to hit.
*Idea: Decrease his HP or make him easier to hit (by lowering his Ranged Combat skill). In the original game, he has 15 HP and AP (Attack Power) of 2. Maybe we can put Ranged Combat 2 here without Pistol special skills.

2.3 HEAVY DUDE (2)
*Problem: Too hard to hit. I lose several times.
*Idea: His HP in original game is 20 and the AP is 4. Maybe we can follow this suite (or it already is?)

2.4 MAGE
I think the Shaman should be changed to simple mage with no other abilities. Just Powerbolt 1 weapon. Proposed HP: 30. Spellcasting: 4

2.5 MAGE (2)
I think you put Ferocious Orc here but the original game has the second mage. My idea is to put Powerbolt 2 as the weapon and special abilities like Flamethrower 1 or Fireball 1. HP: 36.

2.6 SAMURAI WARRIOR
The only problem is he does not use melee attacks when you go near him.

2.7 FEROCIOUS ORC
HP: 50, RC: 4, Weapon: AK-98

2.8 GANG LEADER
HP: 30, Nuyen: 6,000, Weapon: Please change the shotgun to HK227 SMG.

2.9 TROLL DECKER
HP: 40, 14, Nuyen: 7,000, Weapon: Please change the SMG to Minigun.

2.10 REPLICATING MAGE
HP: 50, Spellcasting: 3. Spell: Flamethrower: 3, Nuyen: 8,000.

And the final thing is........

PLEASE NERF THE WASTELAND GUARDIAN!

I find it really hard to face him every time even though I have defeated the Replicating Mage in the Arena.

memory fuzzy - are these bosses fightable if player has not already got all the initial basic ingredients for the spells? was thinking jester boss battle would be the perfect time to upgrade health spell to lvl 2 - but then i don't know if we got the initial spell yet? Maybe it doesn't matter? Dog is the guide - not the boss of PC player - so deviating from the original there - would make life easier for the player and the programmer.

Regarding the guns
All of them are tier 1 weapons with similar stats.
The benelli has 4 shots and 10 damage while the sweeper has 2 shots and 12 damage. (I think those are the right numbers, its from memory. I know I chose the weaker of the two.)

Pretty sure the Uzi was also 2 points weaker than the other tier 1 SMG... (I only remember the ammo counts at the moment of 24 and 30...)

Why do you think the bat should be there as opposed to the rebar? (I didn't compare the stats, but seeing as how the baseball bat only does 2 damage i figured the free rebar was more than enough for melee fighters... I made heavy use of it in my runthrough before beta at least)

As for Slim, he's a merchant near Doc M. He'll talk to you after you get your bomb removed.

WEAPONS:
I'll have to check the costs, that is definitely a good reason to swap them. (and its fairly easy to do so). I paid attention to damage as opposed to cost.

ARENA:
Last I checked we matched the original order. Its entirely possible it got out of sync during an update though...
Their stats had originally been based off the original. They have since been tweaked so at this point I don't know how they compare from memory.

WASTELAND:
Can you give a little more detail on what happens when you face him?
For me he would get a rather hard painful off, but then I'd kill him before he acted again.

Yes, I am pretty sure the bosses can be fought without getting anything more than the first spell.
You have to collect the ingredients and report to dog to learn spells, so if you simply ignore the reporting side you can get to the bosses without them.

I do want to rework some of the magic you learn... but haven't had the chance to seriously consider it yet. I do like the idea of being able to upgrade after certain points. It shouldn't be hard to update the dog conversation to let you upgrade after bosses. I'm already tracking the progress for the shops, so I can just apply the logic to the chat...
Geeked  [developer] Apr 3, 2018 @ 8:17pm
well - as it currenty stands - fireball needs to be upgraded to at very least lvl 2 by the time Aneki level - otherwise it looks like a paper spell. lvl 2 healing is not such a problem - but best upgraded before drake volcano level.

Yes, we can get the Heal spell once we meet Dog after Kitsune gave us the leaves and then he appoint us the task to kill Rat Shaman. I think we can make the prize for killing the Rat Shaman is getting a Powerbolt Level 1. Then, Vladimir. I think we can get Blindness spell from killing Vladimir (we learn from using the Strobes). Maybe we can have Mind Wipe spell after defeating Jester Spirit as it will be useful to fight multiple enemies in Drake Tower.

As for Slim, he's a merchant near Doc M. He'll talk to you after you get your bomb removed.

1. If you play Shadowrun Returns, you will see that they sell Street Sweeper first before they sell the Benelli. It's because Benelli is more expensive ($50 more expensive) and has more damage potential than Street Sweeper (Benelli 12 DMG x 2 SHOT = 24 POT while Street Sweeper has 10 DMG x 4 SHOT = 40 POT. You see 2x fold damage potential there.) And Benelli needs Ranged Combat 1 to use while not for Street Sweeper.

2. Uzi is not the weakest. Beretta Model 70 is. Beretta is $100 cheaper than Uzi. Even though it has more rounds in the mag, its damage is lower by one. And Uzi requires Ranged Combat 1 while it's not for Beretta. Again, you will get the Beretta for free and need to buy the Uzi in the original game if you choose SMG path.

3. I think Rebar is not available in the original game, right? I don't see it used and sold anywhere during the Dragonfall campaign. What I mean here is for the player who want to use Melee path. I propose that we drop the Rebar and have the Businessman to sell the Baseball Bat. Then the player can upgrade it in Old Town to use Axe, Katana, etc.

You can see the weapon chronology I put here: http://shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Shadowrun_Returns/Weapons#Sort%20by%20Type

4. Oh, that Sim. We need her to sell new programs.

I have a better idea. How about we're able to choose specific weapons when we pick a firearms from the dead gang instead of just Fichette? You know, like most of the Shadowrun series do. Fichetti Security 500 OR Beretta Model 70 OR Street Sweeper OR AK-97 OR Baseball Bat.

1. Yeah, please swap them. $50 means a lot in the earlier games.
2. Tell me if you need the original data (Or you already have the?)
3. I have killed all the arena fighters but I can hardly fight him. It shows 62% to hit and I always miss the hit. And he's deadly with the shotgun either. Maybe you should decrease his Ranged Combat a bit.

Yes, I think we need to make a path about it either. Since spells come out late of the game, most player will spent karma on Ranged Combats and ignore the spells. Maybe we can consider what Geeked said there.
