In TLD, given that there are no Native-like background choices and to make character creation easier (for the devs and I think, for the players too), the player's character is simply a clone of a tier 1 troop.
So in this instance:
A Lossnarch character = Woodsman of Lossarnach
Lamedon Character = Clansman of Lamedon
Pinnath Gelin = Plainsman of_Pinnath Gelin
and so on...
As such, the player's character take on the stats of those troops. And if there are slight inconsistencies with the troops, either the original TLD balancer did it that way for a reason, or it was simply an oversight which we are currently actively correcting, as seen in Invain's efforts the past few months for other troops.
Then I will stick to my lovely new 28 pts + 16 skills character and consider myself not cheating by doing so.
(This was actually more for me, cause I didn't have a lot of time to play the mod, so I provided this option so I can do a quick start. Looks like people like it too)
