10 December 2025 Update

Equivalent to Nightly Patch Version r4284

Gameplay
  • Refactor animal ambush conditions, scaling, and mission template; assign regional battlefields instead of predefined scenes
  • Add beast slayer trait
  • Allow player to choose their side when WoTT happens; add chance to be expelled from faction; tweak WoTT faction assignment calculation
  • Chance for lords of a defeated faction to survive and join nearest allied faction of the same race (with exceptions for Erebor/Dale and Dunedain)
  • Fix and adjust a few campaign difficulty settings for volunteers and victory points
  • Reduce quest timer for capture prisoners quest; reduce capture chance for elves and Uruk-hai, disable capturing orcs
  • Adjust volunteer calculation for less levelling; give volunteer bonus to single-camp evil factions
  • Rewrite oath of vengeance quest taken from hero mounds, turn it against a specific target lord, making it possible to actual kill an enemy lord.
  • Refactor oath of vengeance against mountain orcs so it counts kills during sieges, gives a bonus per defeated party, and gives an assessment of player's progress and time left in quest menu
  • Change how oathkeeper/oathbreaker trait works
  • Tweak Moria dungeon crawl and Marzabul dialogs
  • Add option to disable using bow and shield for player and companions; tweak accuracy penalty;
  • Tweak rank reward formula and rank progress formula; reduce rank progress above 3 before the war starts
  • Tweak relation gain and friendship rewards (slower progress, more diverse gear, avoid cheap gear)
  • War start by day (now set as standard) can be set to lower values
  • Rework HP shield for more natural staggering and minor damage coming through (avoiding zero damage notifications); increase HP shield from ironflesh
  • Add support for custom max siege battle size per town; increase battle size for a few towns were it should be safe
  • make trolls controllable but add risk of losing control and even running amok; enable new troll attacks in sieges (which were still using original M&B 1.011 troll code for some reason)
  • Implement terrain based effects on agents in battle; also transfer day/night penalties to the new system, so no more proficiency changes at dusk/dawn; only activates in a new savegame
  • Move and rename Goblin South Outpost to Gladden Fields Camp; assign to Moria (new game required)
  • Scale loot shares with troop level, so player gets more if their level is above average party level (helps with big orc parties)
  • add a "trait marker" item for night troops and berserkers, identifying them in troop tree view


Assets and graphics
  • Improved scenes: Dale town center; Umbar camp siege (sea battle); Hornburg (collision), Khand Camp; West Osgiliath (invisible houses); Lebennin battlefields
  • Tweak dungeon darkness, so it adjusts somewhat gradually instead of abruptly; tweak Moria dungeon lighting and atmosphere
  • Improved mail and scale texture for Mordor orcs and Uruks
  • add a few items, mostly orc weapons and helms
  • Recolour a few flora assets for slightly less lushness

Fixes
  • Improved siege capture point messages and disabled defender reinforcement limit
  • Fix prisoner calculation
  • dead marshes battlefield
  • companions complaining about home faction being weak in WoTT
  • target faction selection for quests where switchable centers are involved

Gameplay
  • Tweak difficulty values (default is slightly harder; hard is slightly easier), add "brutal" difficulty
  • Overhaul "hunt down fugitive" quest for better lore integration, findability, challenge

Fixes
  • Fix loot prop slots and rank conditions
  • Fix night bandits quest (remove newly added agent spawners and scripted props for night bandit mission)
  • Change arena music situation to fight, so no more native music when in the arena
  • fix qst_eliminate_patrols, which could be redeemed by other lords than the quest giver
  • Fix spr_barrier_player_8m so that collision moves when scene guardians let you pass
  • Adjust shadow and portal materials so they work with WSE2

Gameplay
  • Tweak runaway slaves quest to make it slightly easier: Chance of slaves obeying scales with charisma, option to kill group leader to coerce them into going back
  • Partly rewrite sorcerer third stage for better clarity, better AI, and better chance to catch sorcerer if he flees

Scenes
  • Add a prop-based system for placing lootable items in scenes, place lootable items in a bunch of town scenes
  • Add discoverable mini-cutscenes in many scenes
  • Touch up and improve a few secret places
  • Lots of other scene improvements

  • Fix recurring "Do you want to retreat" box in sieges if player is the last one standing

Gameplay
  • Implement final fellbeast model and animation, re-activate Nazgul attacks; great thanks to Giles and Swyter!
  • Theoden starts passive in new games, Eomer starts as Marshall (WIP future minor lore event)
  • Disable Orthalion and Angbor for new games; they will be re-added in a different way
  • Replace Gamling with Theodred in new games
  • Adjust remaining attackers/defenders despawn in sieges
  • Add a chance to recruit single troops when asking for rumors
  • Make Mordor captain helm purchasable again (new games only)

Fixes
  • Fix a bug where a dead player agent could still block an enemy spawn point in sieges
  • Hopefully fix an exploit where slaughtering prisoners would not remove them from the party, thanks to Madsci for improved code!
  • Fix Helm's Deep quest conditions so it doesn't trigger again if failed

31 October 2024 Update

Scenes
  • New Edoras center and siege scenes
  • Implement "ask town walker to lead you to a location" mechanic. Thanks to Madsci!
  • Improve custom lighting in a number of scenes

Gameplay
  • Add optional war start mode by day instead of player level, can only be chosen at game start
  • Add option to disable tutorial pop-ups in game start menu
  • Make player speed buff in towns adjustable in mod options (also increasing visibility of the feature)
  • Rank and influence cheats now increment in 20% steps for easier adjusting. Also, both now work independently.
  • Tweak chance for spawning advance camp, so it is lower initially but increases over time; increase cooldown after destruction and increase fac str threshold and cost
  • Tweak kill/wounded and prisoner management formulas, edit skill description

Siege Improvements and Fixes
  • Improved team assignment, so players always have a small contingent of troops following them
  • Add possibility to capture and disable defender spawn points
  • Fix player team assignment in sieges, so now the flag markers correctly show the agents that the player can command
  • fix siege archer script, so player team archers are not reassigned to infantry if out of ammo
  • Tweak siege spawn numbers

Fixes
  • Maybe fix a rare chance that newly spawned parties have the "looted your items" tag
  • Fix talk context after speaking to secret guardian, so no more "Surrender or die" from town guards
  • Experimental fix that hopefully helps avoid parties continuing to siege destroyed centers; reduce minimal party size for sieges
  • Added a faction strength and siegeability check for sieges in individual lord AI script, which was missing before. Maybe helps avoid rogue sieges and Henneth Annun sieges.
  • Restructure game start menu, so players only get gear notifications for the latest selected starting troop
  • Tweak enemy encounter menu to correctly show friendly numbers if allied parties have joined the player. Also make autocalc correctly count friendly parties. Give player a boost in autocalc by letting them attack the first round.
  • Fix the region names on the overland map
  • Improve town walkers spawned by props, so they can interact the same way as regular walkers
  • Fix a bug in the Night Bandit quest that would disable spawning if center entered from the castle

  • New Cair Andros scenes (siege and town visit)
  • New Ithilien crossroads landmark; fix displaced props in Osgiliath siege battles; town walkers adjustments
  • New scene props, implement a few of Mark7's animated scene props
  • Overhauled West Osgiliath scenes (town and siege), based on old scene pack version
  • New Harad camp scenes, based on Khand camp
  • Improve a bunch of town center scenes (not sieges) for better ambiance and visuals

Gameplay
  • Rebalance throwing weapons' accuracy and troops' throwing proficiencies
  • Rebalance troop level on t6 troops
  • Reassign bargainer and wildcraft to INT, trainer to CHA; add a cheat to respec companions if necessary (credit: RamonNZ)
  • Disable Nazgul attacks for now, until replacement is finished

Fixes
  • Fixed an error in tactics skill description which caused crashes in the Polish translation
  • Fix missing dialog state for healers (resulted in not being able to leave healer dialog); fix speaking to healer from town menu
  • Fix conditions for Helms Deep quest, because there was the rare chance the quest would trigger after Isengard is destroyed
