Aside from the tips others have given, here are a few more:
Let me know if any of the above help.
Mordor should be powerfull, I've found it very chellenging enemy but not unstoppable.
My only problem is that while I started new game as Variag I've found it too easy to play. Mordor and the allies are too powerfull to play but not too powerfull when you play against them (game being chellenging is ok).
ps.
The best M&B mod ever.
im on 9 playthroughs now. there is no excuse for the glaring issues and unsorted bugs or even worse, the working as intended ♥♥♥♥ block issues :/
This is good advice.
I've found doubling the influence and rank increases is also useful. You really cannot stop Mordor with the war starting as early as level 8. They just seem to obliterate Gondor.
I also play with cheats enabled, but the only one I use is the reveal map function. It's really useful for planning where to send your troops and seeing how big which armies are and where you should be helping out.
The Westfold or West emnet always fall, it's sort of expected really. To lose at least 1 Rohan settlement, imo it's not too big of a problem, Rohan only need a little help on account of only facing 2 enemies at once (lol).
It's Gondor who really need help, they always lose West Osgiliath and Cair Andros, very little the player can do to stop that, but it's when the orcs move on lossarnarch and the other cities that Gondors defeat is inevitable. Factor in the near endless numbers of their war parties and you begin to realise it's suicide starting the war at level 8.
And I have found the defend village quest to be much harder when in Gondor, Rohan defend village quests are doable but still pretty tough going imo.
I have been able to win the war when I first played the mod 6 months ago but something changed how Gondor behave or something now and it's an endless stream of battles to even slow Gondors defeat now.
Might be tied into how some of their commanders will be killed off.
Incidentally I believe the key is starting in the North, beating the far northern factions quickly then moving south asap.
With the extra forces freed up there Rohan gets more strength in the Centre conflicts, which leaves you the player free to go and try to save Gondor.
Although this does take time, and i'm not sure this strategy even works now considering how rapidly Gondor fall.
Might be worth trying though.
Something else worth trying is when you're given the quest "capture an enemy commander", capture Gothmog, the largest Mordor force. And put off completing the quest until the last second.
Oh and when you talk to guildmasters when they give you the quest to escort a caravan you have unlimited time to escort them. So you can abuse this to keep 1 caravan assisting your forces if you need a few extra allies to help you out in combat.
Kinda cheesy but it helps when you're struggling for getting men.
How about the excuse none of us are paid for this? How about the mod is open source and you're free to contribute?
What bugs? Have you reported them? Have you even looked at our Trello board and seen how many things we're working on?
♥♥♥♥ block issues? Like what?
It's just a few victory cheers and the troll damage given a bit more reverb and beefed up a bit so it sounds a bit more over the top.
Not a pro sound editor btw.
I guess google drive might work.
Might actually have a shot and redoing a few more, I played around with adding a little synth sound to the elf victory ones so you get a little "holy" sort of sound. Might think about doing something similar for the other races.
With others I altered the volume so it's a little louder, ones like the "elf elfsong" were a little quiet for me.
With most there's a bit of an echo to the yells (reverb).
Looking through the files i've altered so far
arrow hit body 1-3 (original sounds too much like an arrow hitting wood and a bit loud)
dwarf 1-9
elf basic victory 1-5
elf yells 1-10
lothlorien yells
mirkwood yells
rivendell yells
gondor yells 1-6
troll death and grunts
Which in the whole file isn't a huge amount really. Most of the basic sound effects are fine, the orc/goblin sounds are pretty good as is.
I like most of the basic rohan sounds imo though they could use a little fixing with volume.
Would probably alter some more of the human sounds, maybe make the nazgul screech a little louder.
I did all that cos I have an old version of ableton on my pc and did some dabbling with music. Not very good music but enough working knowledge to tinker with basic sound effects I think.
