plasma grenades cheaper or ... something?

Just unlocked plasma grenades. They cost 1 elerium core each. Seems a bit much considering many guides recommend having two full squads of fighters ... that's a lot of cores to pay for the grenades.

Anyone know of a mod to make these cheaper? Or unlimited? Or am I doing it wrong?
