Hi could you give me some more details;

  • Singleplayer, or multiplayer?
  • What are you trying to replace?
  • What are you replacing it with?
  • Is the item you're replacing it with whitelisted?
  • What version of the mod are you using?
  • Have you tried re-installing the mod?

Please let me know at your earliest convenience,
- Crazy

I'm trying to replace Stone Blocks with Stone Bricks and I am in single-player + I do have this stuff whitelisted.

Just to confirm, you did specify 'Terraria:GrayBrick' in the whitelist, rather than something like 'Gray Brick', 'Terraria:Gray Brick' or something like that, right? A reminder that the whitelists refer to the internal IDs of blocks and walls, rather than their normal in-game names, and this IS important to functionality of the mod's whitelists.

Additionally, Walls use their own independent list of IDs.

Just in case, I'll link both pages here.

Having made sure that I set the Blockswap whitelist correctly, I can personally confirm that Gray Bricks do vein swap correctly, so I'd chance a guess that either the whitelist target isn't properly set, your version of the mod is outdated, or tModLoader did a funny and corrupted the install and you'll have to uninstall and reinstall it.

I did do Terraria:GrayBrick
Then to also confirm, you did also make sure to go into the OreExcavator World config to turn "Allow Blockswap Excavations" on, right? It comes enabled by default, but disabling it disables the vein swap, even if you have the whitelist set correctly.

It's also worth pointing out that you may have inadvertently whitelisted Gray Bricks under Player Settings - Block (Dictates which blocks can be vein mined) rather than Player Settings - Blockswap (Dictates which placed blocks can replace other blocks when placed.). I realize it's a bit silly to point out what should be the obvious, but I'm just trying to cover the bases here.

If those aren't the cause, then check your mod version under the Manage Mods submenu from the main menu, and make sure you're using version 0.6.9.

If all of those are true, you do have Allow Blockswap Excavations enabled, Gray Bricks are whitelisted under Blockswap, and you're on the latest version, then tModLoader probably did some funny business, and you'll need to reinstall the mod.

Also be sure that alternative functions are not disabled in the player configs. These features will turn off if you use something like a mouse button keybind.

Sounds to me then like you might need a reinstallation.

I agree with the reinstall, unfortunately it's rather common for the mod author installations to be corrupt. Please try a reinstall and if the issue persists I'll look into releasing a patch.

I'm sorry for not being as helpful as I usually am, I'm studying for exams this week.

Keep me updated,

Alright, I'll look into the code and see if there's potential for an issue. To be clear;

  • You have the excavation key bound, and you have an item you're attempting to place whitelisted.
  • You have all replace features enabled.
  • You are not using mouse buttons for your excavation keybind.
  • You are on a singleplayer world.
  • You are using v0.6.9 of Ore Excavator.
  • You have a pick in your inventory able to mine stone.
  • Issue persists with a fresh install.

All of this information is correct?
Let me know and I'll start testing immediately.
