Immersive Taming

Taming "The big guys"
How does one go about taming a titan/giga? I know they are combat tames, but I don't know the stipulations on combat taming... Can I be on a battle quetz with turrets and stuff? Can I have multiple dinos? If so will they stop attacking when threshold is reached? What if they don't stop automatically and I need to whistle, but it's too late and another tame lands another hit? Can tribe mates on dinos assist in the combat? Any other useful info for me?

Thanks!

Damage from any source that has the same tribe ID as the tribe taming the dino counts towards the taming progress. This includes tribe mates, ridden and non ridden dinos and although not tested, should also include turrets and damage from other structures.

Once target prevention in unlocked (for both combat and non combat immersive tames), un-ridden dinos of the taming tribe don't actually deal any damage to the dino being tamed. Only damage instigated by the player, either by fists, weapons or ridden dino, would harm the dino for taming purposes after this point.

There a short grace period of a few seconds after target prevention unlocks so you can stop attacking, and not hinder the tame.

There are a few points to note though...

If the dino is trapped in a taming pen, or if it cannot reach you and then flees, you won't gain taming progress for the damage you inflict, but the damage will still hurt the dino. You'll be notified by UI that the dino is unimpressed by your cowardly tactics, and will only respect you if it's a fair fight. If you continue to damage it while it's unimpressed, you very well may end up killing it before target prevention unlocks.

Dinos being combat tamed also pursue you, so if you decide to escape to a distance where the dino would normally lose aggro, it's likely still chasing you down.

Wow. I really love the depth you went in to for this. And the foresight...

Thanks for the answers! And with those, I still have no idea how I'd tame one of them if it finds my warquetz cowardly (which... I mean... It kinda is... But they are kinda mean too!)

I'm curious about that too, as those two are quite OP We once had thrown 12 100+ rexes against a lvl 4 giga and it didn't do very much. Will the giga have tamed stats in the fight?

trying to tame a giga right now and i have no idea how to fight it without cowardly tactics. i'm solo, by the way. i'm thinking that the fight usually stops at half health, so maybe if i use cowardly tactics till just before that point, THEN fight it fair, maybe it will count?

edit; did not count! almost got there with a bunch of big strong dinos but with heavy losses. gonna increase taming speed and try again with some good but not so-good-i'll-miss-them rexes.

Yeah, how do you fight the giga? without being a coward?

I just did it with 10 bossworthy rexes and a yutyrannus. Nobody died so that turned out to be overkill for the level 145 giga, but considering how I nearly lost my favourite wyvern to her on the first go, it was better to be safe rather than sorry. The land-breathe-escape tactic was just too unreliable and risky.

Apologies for the necromancy on this thread. Once the target dino has been sufficiently damaged, how do we complete the tame? Do we need more specific baits or do we switch to meat/veg for the rest?
