Green Cities compatibility.

TODO:
- Optimize the loading of road assets.
- Improve the assets report.


This mod displays information on the loading screen and adds new options:

  • Load used assets: automatically loads the assets you have placed in your city, no matter if they are enabled or not.
  • Share textures / materials / meshes: Assets from the same author often contain the same resources. By default, the game does not care and loads identical copies. These options replace such copies by references, saving RAM.
  • The mod contains an optimized custom asset loader that is significantly faster than the built-in loader.

An optional HTML report of custom assets is also available. For additional information, see the figures above.

Some usage tips are provided in the guides below.

@ssgteverett sometimes, a lot of times actually, programs don't clean up their ram entirely. If you played fine, installed a mod and the game crashes on start after removing the mod, it's probably because CS didn't clean up after itself. I'll bet that rebooting would have fixed the crashing, and would likely have fixed the game not accepting the mod in the first place.

If you're like me, you hate rebooting... for many many reasons. But sometimes it needs to be done.

@ssgteverett Cities Skylines mods do not change game files. If you uninstall this mod, it is truly gone. It is just one dll file under the steamapps folder. Just make sure Steam actually removed LoadingScreenMod.dll there.

Same with other mods.

with this mod i have to hard exit my game via task manager. the game dont want to exit

Possible update. Going through my mods list, theres a mod that is a bunch of random numbers, which I think I read earlier in this thread. It turns out to be surface painter. So I unsub to that. The loading screen into the map is back but without the loading screen mod. And I was also now able to get into the actual map. But no mods were active....

Anyone find a fix? All my assets would load and right before it jumps into the map, the game crashes. Deleted handfuls of assets and retried. Now the screen is just black and the loading circle with chirpy, and the circle rotates forever. Then I rage quit out.

I do not get a report output. Any ideas what may or may not block it? the output folder is selected in options. But file is empty!

Tried it...Locked up on loading and Cities completely. Following Crtl-Alt-Delete was finally able to 'unlock' the game AND on re-trying to reload the game locked up again. This continued, even after removing that particular saved game. Even after this Mod was unscribed and removed, the game would continue locking up on the loading phase[this continued]. Eventually, I had to un-install and re-install the game and this corrected the issue...Obviously, there are issues here with the Mod. It sounds good - If it would properly work... Suggestions? No, I did not have a ton of Mods or assests subscribed [some basics], and but a half-dozen saves at the time on the game.

I keep getting this error SimulationManager.late.up.data which will eventually crash my game. This has been happening since the Green Cities release, along with cutting a few mods down.

while its loading right when its scanning the assets, is says at simulation in red:

SIMULATION: (FAILED)
Arguments out of range
perimeter: Index

then, sometime later, it shows a blue screen with tons of people all in one spot.

can anyone help?
