After the release of Vanilla Factions Expanded - Empire, a lot of you have requested that we tell the other side of this marvelous story - the story of Deserters. So many of you have requested it that in fact we made it our priority to release the Deserters faction expansion as soon as it was reasonably possible. What initially was meant to be a small mod about stealing stuff from the Empire, quickly became a grand new campaign against the evil nobility. We didn’t stop on just a few new quests and a new weapon - this mod comes packed with content to make the anti-imperial playthrough not only viable, but also oh so fun!

An indepth visibility system will track how much the Empire knows about you, and will affect everything that occurs in your game against the Empire. Higher visibility might result in larger imperial raids, less time for the empire to send reinforcements to their compounds, higher contraband prices and even quiet absolver raids.

Our goal with this mod was to make you feel like you’re a part of the bigger movement happening across the entire planet, but still in secret. You will be able to contact other deserter cells to send shuttles to pick you up, cause distractions and taunt imperial forces. You will be doing all that by trading intel - which is a new resource obtained directly from the empire via a variety of different ways. I encourage you to check the infographics to find out more about what we cooked for you!

For obvious reasons this mod requires Royalty DLC.

Q: Can I add this mod to an ongoing save?
A: Yes! However, you will need to wait for a new Chased Deserter quest to occur before you join the deserters.

Q: I’m an enemy of the Empire but I’m not a deserter! Why?
A: Two different things. You can wage normal war on the Empire and make peace with them later. Being a deserter is permanent, and only occurs when you actively harbor imperial deserters.

Q: It doesn’t make sense lore-wise that XYZ.
A: Ok, you do you.

Q: Can I continue playing the game after reaching the new ending in this mod?
A: Yes, but bear in mind both the Empire and the Deserters will cease to exist.

Q: Is this mod compatible with Combat Extended?
A: We do not handle CE patches. Best ask Combat Extended team on their discord/steam page. Do not ask here.

Is there a way to undo the permanent hostility of the Empire?

I got to ask i tried looking but can't find one so is there a setting to remove the intel going out of date? the options for me getting some tend to take so long I tend to lose it before the next option to get more leaving me with no way to buy anything from them. I jut started completely ignoring the quest to join them and when i do go the path I keep an external note of how much I have so when I want to buy something I deduct it from my amount and spawn in the amount of intel needed.

Does Imperial recruitment bring intel? I have a freeholder-ranked pawn under control, but it doesn't lose rank or drop intel

Anyone know of anyway to disable or reduce the secret deserters that show up in other peoples trade caravans? Almost every single visitor has 1-3 deserters that randomly go hostile when a trade caravan shows up, every single caravan is giving massive relations down because my people immediately gun them down

First of all, I adore this mod. But I was wondering if there is anywhere I could find the music for this, because it is incredible but sometimes my crap computer can't quite handle how big this mod is when it is in a large modlist. Thanks!

@Commander Link
You aren't permanently locked out of making peace with the Empire. Progressing the deserter questline will result in (2, from memory) offers from the Empire to make peace so you'll stop killing nobles.
However even if you couldn't...what did you expect? Why should the Empire care about making peace with what is generally some backwater mudhole that has maybe 15 people living there?

@Link - Choices have consequences. You even said that you understand that this is a "you" problem because you neglected to read the mod description. Why are you venting your spleen here when you have no one to blame but yourself?
Commander Link Apr 27 @ 9:25pm
No, Triel, it is not a "Skill issue", this mod makes it so if you accept a deserter, you can NEVER make peace with the empire again, but in vanilla, you can make peace with them even after accepting a deserter by attending peace talks or sending them gifts
Triel Apr 26 @ 9:48am
Hey link, the deserter quest is a vanilla thing and it makes you enemies with empire there too. Skill issue.

this is you problem link XD

Hey, I am having a bug issue where I click to accept one of the assassination quests, but it doesn't actually accept it. The intel disappears but I don't get a quest.
