One thing I always wanted to do but never could bring myself to do is overhaul the Empire faction in the Royalty DLC. For such a mysterious, powerful entity in the political sphere of RimWorld, there is surprisingly little content around them. When I wanted to make a Royalty focused playthrough, I quickly realized it’s just a ‘normal playthrough’ with ‘royalty sprinkles’ - so not really what I wanted.

So I did what I do best and sat down with my trusty google docs to design a complete overhaul to the Empire faction that will finally allow you to feel like a proper imperial nobility. From intrigues and art exhibitions, to hunting down deserters and protecting from the acts of terrorism, with this mod you can really make an Empire-centric playthrough and make a play for the Imperial throne.

With new permits, structures, apparel, vassalage system, royal honors, Great Hierarchy and titles, this mod is a powerhouse for those wanting to roleplay as the Imperial family, but it will also work just as well for people who only want one or two nobles in their colony.

For obvious reasons this mod requires Royalty DLC.


















































































Using RuntimeGC or any mod that clears world pawns will result in the Great Hierarchy being broken. Use ‘Regenerate Great Hierarchy’ dev option if that happens.

Q: Does this mod add Deserter content? Can I fight the Empire?
A: No, this is VFE-Empire, not VFE-Deserters. Being hostile to the Empire makes 95% of the content in this mod disabled.

Q: Is this mod save game compatible?
A: Yeah! You can’t remove it after you add it though!

Q: It doesn’t make sense lore-wise that XYZ.
A: Ok, you do you.

Q: I don’t see the Royalty menu button at the bottom of my screen!
A: You need to join the Empire by gaining a titled pawn for the Great Hierarchy UI to become accessible.

Q: Is this mod compatible with Combat Extended?
A: Yeah!

Q: Does this mod work with Medieval playthroughs?
A: No, Royalty is an Ultratech faction.

I think the janissary gear research project is in the wrong spot. It looks like it belongs above Marine Armor, but it overlaps shuttle research.

Its probably an interaction with another mod, but I get the following when I launch a gravship. Not sure why this mod would effect that, but the name comes up in the error message. Im not very good at interpreting error messages.

Question to see if i have a bug to file or don't understand something. I have two honors "titles" on one of my pawn, i have equipped them on her in the interface and i have the "Bestow honors" widget on the UI. Clicking it does nothing however. Am i missing something? Is it because she's a single pawn mecanitor colony.

So i have a problem, i want to get the Novice title, but my pawn has too much honor and is valid for an Acolyte title. Result - only get the option to host the acolyte-level ceremony. Problem is, this requires a throneroom. I can't say to the empire "hey, guys, let's just give me the Novice title for now maybe?" Empire says "no, no, you are clearly valid for a higher title so get back to us once you satisfy the requirements". Would be nice if you could choose to do a lower rank ceremony as long as conditions are met if you can't or don't want to get a higher level title. As it is i'm locked out of receiving the psylink for a long time for a really dumb (albeit fittingly beuracratic) reason.

So i noticed something not sure if its a bug, but even tho i turn the new texture for the shuttle off with Vanilla Textures Expanded (since i like the vanilla model a bit better), the new imperial shuttle texture remain, i tried moving this mod below it, but it simply won't let me at all, only way i been able to get the Texture for the new shuttle to Go away was to simply turn this mod off, so yeah not sure if there is a conflict or error between the mods as i don't really get any errors, but if possible could you add a setting for this mod to toggle the New Shuttle work, since that setting doesn't work on the Vanilla Expanded Textures whenever this mod is also active.

I've been having a really frustrating bug occur where sometimes when the Empire sends tithes or aperitif it will land on an overhead mountain tile which immediately collapses rocks on that tile and destroys whatever they were sending
