Description
NATO Overhaul
For all who thought the Vanilla NATO was a little... lackluster, presenting: NATO Improved!
The aim of this mod is to present each flavor of NATO in the base game in a new way using a more up-to-date projection of equipment, gear, and structure. Most assets used are already present in the base game, or simply a re-texture, so it is easy to pick up.

Version 2.7: Released!
Included in Update 2.7 is the inclusion of a large number of new assets, including those available as soft dependencies from CUP and Aerodynamics Lab. Examples include the M1 Abrams, M2 Bradley, F-14, F-15, and F-16. More texture options are available for many vehicles for unrestricted creative flexibility. A direct-fire version of the Mk45 is also available as an alternative to the artillery version. The JCA UH-80 FFV patch has been removed, and a similar config edit put in its place. Many sounds and effects have been standardized across mods for a smooth experience between all assets in the NATO Improved factions.

Overhaul Features
1. New NV Goggles: ENVG-B, directly inspired by the real-life ENVG-B.
These use the Vanilla NV model, with the TI vision mode added. Weight has been changed to 2.5lbs (as calculated by ACE) based on data from the following link: https://www.peosoldier.army.mil/Equipment/Equipment-Portfolio/Project-Manager-Soldier-Maneuver-and-Precision-Targeting-Portfolio/Enhanced-Night-Vision-Goggle-Binocular/
Available in all colors. APEX ENVG has been upgraded and reduced in weight as well.
2. NGSW-inspired MX rifles: The MXA2 has adjusted sounds, ROF, and magazines. Sound Suppressors are now found on the barrel of nearly every infantryman's rifle. RCO optics can also be found as the standard rifleman optic.
3. Combat Helmet Adjustments: The standard Combat Helmet now has the same armor value as the base game's Enhanced Combat Helmet. I don't think it was the headset providing that extra armor anyway.
4. New Classes:
Asst. Autorifleman Dedi.: Asst. Autorifleman with the 2 HMG magazines in his pack swapped with 4 MX SW magazines.
Asst. Heavy Gunner: Backpack contains 3 150 round belts for the SPMG.
Gunner (Autonomous HMG/GMG): Carries an autonomous HMG/GMG backpack and UAV terminal.
Marksman (Mk18): Alternative version of the MXA2 M armed Marksman.
UAV Controller: Rifleman-style unit with UAV Terminal.
Rifleman (TWS): Rifleman with a TWS scope. Makes for buttery smooth targetting with the ENVG-B goggles.
Rifleman (SMG), Rifleman (Light, SMG), Recon Scout (SMG): what it says on the tin. Thought the Vector needs more action.
Rifleman (Shotgun): Thanks to Aegis, shotguns are now available.
5. CBRN Subcategory: Units equipped with the proper equipment and hoses configured.
6. Paratrooper Subcategory: Units equipped with parachutes, and typically "heavier" gear than normal.
7: Reworked Special Forces category, heavily inspired by Delta Force.
8. Airplane and Helicopter Groups are available.
9. Enhanced ACE damage settings for vehicles - no more unfun explosions after one hit by a 40mm shell.

General Improvements
1.Unit gear standardized across factions.
2. All units and vehicles found in any variant of NATO are available for every faction.
3. Loadout adjustments based on weapons and ammo carried.
4. Appropriately colored weapons are issued across factions.
5. Combat Helmets are now issued for most infantry who would normally be seen with Light Combat Helmets.

This mod does NOT override vanilla factions. New BLUFOR factions will be added for for Arid, Tropic, Woodland, Desert, and Navy patterns.

Yes, I know the XM5/XM250 was picked.
My current headcanon is that the MX/MXA2 was a competitor for the NGSW program, and the caliber difference can be waved-off with a magic wand for now.

-CUP: M1 Abrams variants, M2 Bradley variants, AH-1Z, MQ-9, C-130 texture options, M220 TOW-2 (BGM-71E), USV SeaFox.
-Aerodynamics Lab: F-15C/D/E, F-16C/D B50/52, F-14F (US Navy), F-14D (RACS).
-D2X 2035 Crossover: Texture options for A-10D.

Also Planned: NATO (Urban) faction/subcategory using textures created for my Total Warzone - Warzone 2100 Factions mod. Potentially new combat uniforms as well.

Suggested Pairings
Many features in this mod can be enhanced when other mods are loaded simultaneously.
-ACE: Adds overlay to APR.
-Spectrum Device Functionality - Rebuilt, Adds more functionality to the EW Specialist outside of Enoch.

Known Bugs
1. Woodland AA/AT gunners assemble a tropic launcher. I have no idea how Aegis makes the olive static launcher disassemble into the same backpacks the tropic one uses, and then assemble into the olive one. Check the configs for yourself.

Well yeah a mission's not gonna use custom assets if it's not configured for it. This is not a vanilla replacement mod - this adds custom faction and unit classes. Vanilla replacement is out of scope for my projects.

I used the Vanilla nato fac for it, that might have the issue, but theres also 2 other non vil ones, ones by CUP and the other the DLC ver. what ones the correct one to use?

Probably due to some bad inheritance, probably explains some weird behavior I noticed in another mod of mine which also adds that plane. Thanks for the heads-up.

This mod seems to cause some sort of bugged behavior with the Aegis C-192/C-130 vehicle transport. Only the pilot's seat is usable, the copilot's and third cockpit seats do not work. Only affects the Aegis versions of the vehicle transport C-130, though - the NATO Improved C-130J (VIV) and all infantry transport versions of the plane across both mods seem to work as intended.

For now, Aegis CSAT does approximately what I had envisioned. I actually do have a Russia-equivilant mod on the very back burner that's mostly complete, save for some updating to my current standards, which adds a set of woodland/arid Russia and Spetsnaz factions, where Spetsnaz units use no-pat uniforms and sanatized vehicles. Actually, the one thing that forced me to put the mod on permanent hold is now resolved (and is currently going to be in my next release of Total Warzone as well)
