The Wasteland Expansion

This content is again in beta and under surveillance. From now on, Wasteland Expansion introduces the Lizardman's return as a playable faction playing alongside the Nomads. Expect to find unbalanced things that are supposed to be corrected in upcoming patches.

This expansion will feature the return of the Nomads as its own race in the world of Athla. Nomads as a race have been included in the project in what began as a campaign project only, where I finally decided to expand the content further with a new race. Most of the planned nomadic content around race has been included and integrated into the campaign, so they are playable and fully set up.

So far, players will encounter bugs and traces of what could be the remains of the Human race. There could be abilities and requisites that can be leftovers from other races. The Nomad race strives to be balanced in comparison to the other nine vanilla races available in the game. So any inconsistencies that may seem inappropriate should be reported.

The Wasteland Campaign
This is the campaign following the after story of what happened to the outlaw faction Nomads. You will progress the campaign with two different leaders and move on Athla's world map together simultaneously with the characters. The Wasteland Chapters follows Sundren's and Edward's campaigns simultaneously in the background, explaining a story point from a different view. You will encounter familiar characters and new faces as you progress with either hero. The Wasteland alliance is the main faction in the story, and on the world map, your colour will be orange.

I'm developing a series of scenarios that are taking the original campaigns of Elven Court and Commonwealth a bit further. This by adding a third story branch that follows the same timeline as Edward and Sundren's stories. Reynald and Tanner will be the main leaders of the story, and you will intervene with both characters in almost all scenarios.

Main content:
Released scenarios:
Mission 00 – Jungle holdout
Mission 1a – Pirate coast
Mission 1b – Monster hunt
Mission 2a – Storming the fronts
Mission 2b – Green infiltration
Mission 3a – Perilous alliances
Mission 3b – Glory for the brave
Mission 4a – Desert warfare
Mission 4b – The smuggler's route

Mission 4d – Tale of the firstborns
Mission 5a – Sundren's revenge

Released scenarios of Horn of Kesh:
Final Mission – Horn of Kesh 6a (Reynald)
Final Mission – Horn of Kesh 6b (Reynald)
Final Mission – Horn of Kesh 6c (Reynald)
Final Mission – Horn of Kesh 6d (Tanner)

Unreleased scenarios:
Mission 4c – Placeholder
Mission 5b – Placeholder
Final Mission – Horn of Kesh 6e and (6f?)

Regarding campaign and mods
Each scenario utilizes new things and progresses differently with scripts. For example, the player can only use one leader at a time and progress with fewer heroes on each main story branch.

The campaign only uses base content available from the original game and DLC. This ensures compatibility and does not force players to use other mods only to play this campaign or depend on other mods to receive updates.

New custom content
To further establish the content of this campaign, I also intend to add custom things. I will make this out time, but the priority is to finish the campaign with its story, while the new content will be secondary and included as a bonus.

Released content so far:
Nomad Race
Lizardmen Race
Royal Tent Dwelling
Syron Dwelling

Things needed to be done for later:
Balancing the Nomad racial lineup
Tuning some icons and models
Altering, balancing and improving the racial governance tree
Updating the campaign content with Nomads
Finishing the Horn of Kesh mission
Adding more and new abilities
Revising text and grammatical errors

Bugs & feedback
The English language is not quite the best currently, and there should be plenty of mistakes grammatically. If you find a mistake, I would be happy to apply changes if you discover something quirky during your playthrough that is either by the quests, story or dialogues.

If you get stuck in a scenario where you cannot press a button or cannot continue at any given moment, please report this, and I will do whatever I can to fix it quickly.

Regarding balance for the campaign difficulty, it is set to be around intermediate for Reynald's story and hard for Tanner's story.

Special mentions
That Human - Helpful insights and additional textures provided for Nomad horse riders.

Huanglukuzhu – Provided some texture refreshments for Nomad City

dpentlow1 – Persint on insight for campaign feedback and other balance awareness

lisk – Helpful feedback and insight on campaign feedback and other balance flaws.

Legal stuff
This mod reuses story content from the original campaigns of Triumph Studios, such as screens, maps, characters and background content. World maps were made using the psd* template provided by Triumph Studios for custom campaign creation.

Custom characters are all part of this campaign and, in scenarios, provide a fun experience for the AOW III universe and community.

Cheers and enjoy

@estaneph

Campaign will be worked on. Especially the prologues. Since the intention is to become overwhelmed and technically you will win the scenario even if defeated. Which is supposedly the idea of prologue. The result and player intention did however result in a more bad player experience.

Please rebalance the campaign. I'm playing in easy mod and its all or nothing. One map, the ia are to dummy to defend ans let her vital fortress without any defense, and the rest, ennemy kept spamming Hex of unites when i only have 2 or 3. Bro wtf:steamthumbsdown:

If you encounter more stuff that feels out of place feel free to post more campaign feedback. Its always welcome to get more things since the campaign was released about 5 years ago and most likely stuff can be little outdated and rough here & there.

Cheers

Nah not all. The very 1st prologue mission is the very first and quite experimental one. Well technically even if the missions end in a defeat the missions is tasked as "winning in defeat". Even if you get beaten and your leader is defeated the campaign will continue but not with the good endings.

It will be updated since it's not clear that you're supposed to lose, flee or survive. Thats why you face 5 overwhelming enemies with spawning forces coming from everywhere. I have not had the time and opportunity to update the campaign since I realize that my intentions of the campaign are not clear and over the course of the year has been yelled at indefinitely over years for the stealth, convoy and defense missions since most players do play the games in standard conquest style.

An update will certainly come when I set up my workstation again. But the campaign will mostly play out better in future missions. Apart from Tanner's campaign which is more frantic style

I hope I don't sound impertinent or offensive, I'm using Google Translate since English is not my language.

I am eager to continue playing this campaign, I liked the second mission, we will see what happens with the next ones

I saw the videos but just the first mission, which is to defend, for some reason it skips everything and shows that the entire map has been taken by him.

That's why I decided to attack instead of defend, I was able to win it because of that, I think that if I defended it would be impossible since I was almost able to win it
shadics ARG. 21 de mai. às 11:02
I don't understand, the mission told me to prepare defenses, which I couldn't because I didn't have gold, the mission told me to defend the positions with my partner, I couldn't because I didn't have gold, so they exterminated my ally without being able to do anything to help him because I had fewer units than him

and then 5 armies from 5 different factions attacked me at the same time without giving me time to create something to try to defend myself.

I already passed the second mission, nothing like the first, the first one felt like chaos, I was even scared that the next mission would be worse, it felt unfair and impossible if I followed the rules that the mission told me.

I don't know if something was broken, I don't know if the mission was intended to feel that way, the second mission felt calm and I enjoyed it.

@Gladen
It's not 25 turns, it's 50, I'm playing it on the normal difficulty, I don't know if that will affect the number of turns

I won the mission but doing the opposite of what I was supposed to do, attacking directly without trying to accommodate anything or setting up defenses

The mission was broken, enemies appeared that did not move because I had already killed their leader and their city.

Even so, the other enemies that I was not able to eliminate began to attack the cities that I had taken, there were so many units that I basically couldn't defend anything, I decided to leave the cities to him and try to entrench myself in my throne city.

I was able to win it in the end, but it felt like chaos, the mission was broken, units appeared that did not move (I had taken their cities and killed their leader), when the attacks began there was no way to stop them, even my ally in all my attempts annihilated him instantly

For info there is also a guy who finished the campaign. Although not the best quality.

@shadics ARG

Hello there. The prologue is been revised quite a lot over the years. Its typically abit of s burner. Some people defend, some people even attack the enemies. I can recommend to take out the most Easter city of Colm to prevent flanking. The goal is to survive, and I believe the goal is still 25 turns, if I'm not brain damaged and forgot that already.

However, there is back up escape route by going north east that essentially force due an escape of Uraina. Fleeing can be done by going north east of the corner by the river. It will prompt a continuou of the missions

A few tips and hints were placed to notify players of certain interests. Enemies do not go over mountains for example.
