Disclaimer regarding Timelines DLC: it is my policy that all current DLCs are required for my (major) mods, Timelines is not an exception, however, scenarios in Timelines were not updated for VRO balance, it's practically impossible to do due to hand-crafted nature of them.
Instead, with VRO on a new game or save load all blueprints closed behind completing scenarios will be granted for free.
If you want to play through Timelines, please do so in vanilla, all unlocks/progress will work with VRO as well.
VRO MOD REQUIRES A NEW GAME START (vanilla saves won't work) AND CANNOT BE SAFELY DEACTIVATED

TL;DR
VRO is a major overhaul to how combat is implemented with the aim to make it more varied, enjoyable, less player-centric and less arcadey (to my taste at least). This is done by changing parameters of every ship, weapon, missile, engine, shield as well as adding numerous new weapons, missiles and even a few ships. The main drive for me to create VRO was that I felt the huge potential in X4 and how its made, where the player can have a real impact on the universe. Some aspects of the game also felt very underwhelming to me, specifically how combat felt, and I was struggling to get the best enjoyment from the game. New and updated weapons, ships, general combat overhaul and "feel" of combat mechanics is the focus of the VRO.

Dear shuulleech, take your time with the update and thank you for all the work you have been doing! VRO makes X4 all the more enjoyable and I say that as a long term Veteran of the series. Thank you for making this mod and thank you even more for supporting it further. It really is a godsend.

At least ships prestige value is missing with VRO ships. Like experimental shuttle should have HIGH but with vro its NONE.

About to test it on the new beta. Anyone else try it? Also, if I enable it on an existing game, will the ships start to slowly appear with the new assets (from the assets mod)?

Curious - I started a playthrough with VRO (and the weapon variety pack). Xenon PEs are doing ludicrous amounts of damage. One volley is one-shotting fighters and wiping out heavy fighter shields and 80-90% of their hull.

Is this intended? I'm not certain if it's coming from VRO or a weapon variety pack, but I'm going to restart a playthrough withought VRO to test.
