Does sadly not seem to work.
Doesn´t crash or anything but it just isn´t showing up when you start the game.

doesnt work anymore? this sounds like exactly what i was looking for. :( i hate the vanilla system. shouldnt be in a strategy game other than warcraft. i hate positioning units based on who needs xp rather than whats best for the situation. and the snowballing effect as a result omg who thought of that. my single promoted warrior can probably beat death robots ffs.

Please someone fix this. or make something similar.

i think levelling speed is too flat. so you get levels very slowly in the early game and very fast in the late (as your army grows bigger). and the players who don't fight much are very easy targets. maybe the first level should be 10 xp, then rise ~1.5x per level? (10, 25, 35, 50, 75 etc)
also the first tier doctrines should be a bit weaker imho

@Killin: Yes you do, hit the X key to bring it up, it doesn't have a UI button as that causes issues with CQUI and a large number of people use CQUI. Also make sure that you are not using any other mods that change unit promotions, such as the new Warefare Expanded Complete Edition mod as that will prevent this mod from functioning correctly as intended.

Warrior Monks (and units using this tree) don't have any promotions.
Do you plan on adding this as a new Doctrine Tree?

Also, is this even still being worked on at all? ;) (last update was in March)

A group of modders have just released an updated version of the Warfare Expanded mod which if used in conjunction with this mod will cause a conflict, particularly as the new Warfare Expanded has created/introduced 4 new promotion trees, Naval Bombardment, Close Air Support, Marine and Fire Support. I was wondering what are the chances of a compatibility patch for this mod and Warfare Expanded incorporating the new promotion trees in this mod? I'll wager it might take a bit of work to do.

@hortanium: By missing do you mean the button to access the tree is not visible without CQUI? If the answer to that is yes that's because it was done intentionally that way to prevent a mod conflict when using CQUI by Ewok, this mod's author. If you want to access the doctrines tree screen when not using CQUI all you have to do is press the X key on the keyboard, and then press it again to close the doctrines screen. Otherwise this mod should be working exactly the same as when you are using CQUI, as this mod doesn't touch the UI at all other than adding that button to the CQUI interface.

If is use CQUI I get the doctrines tree. If I don't use CQUI mod the tree is missing.

I love this mod! A suggestion: the recon tree could help scouts be a little more competitive in battle, because it's difficult getting experience with them and filling out the tree. Maybe have them be range-killers early on or something along those lines?

I'd love for you to make that espionage tree too, because spies are tons of fun. Thanks for all your work, it makes the game much more enjoyable for me!

there are some units that are not able to level up and get stuck on 15xp. Battleships, Ground Attack plane to name a few. A few naval industrial and most air units have xp bugs. Other wise this is a great addition and I enjoy the mod.

Also, I found out the real reason why I was losing accumulated EXP for my Recon class units. It wasn't that Firetuner command I'd been using nor Firetuner, but because I hadn't had my Recon units gain any EXP from combat, just from finding Goody Huts and Natural Wonders. Once I had a Recon unit have a fight it "saved" the EXP gained and as a result Recon units doctrine EXP is no longer getting "lost" because I alsways make sure that they have a least one fight now against a barbarian scout (even if I have to add 1 in using the Firetuner it still "saves" the doctrine EXP) or another barbarian unit.

@EwokBaconBits: I've noticed with this mod that whenever you have previously chosen a doctrine choice for a unit category (eg. Recon) before saving the game and then closing it, that the doctrine is not automatically added to new units produced after you load up that saved game again and start a new turn. It appears that it doesn't add the doctrines to new units produced after loading up a saved game and starting a new turn until you unlock another doctrine choice from accumulating enough EXP, even though it technically should automatically apply the accumulated doctrines once a new turn is started if I've read the description above correctly. Is this functioning as intended, or is it being wierd?

But on that note the mod is awesome apart from how AI seem to get special forces so early and become invincible. Doctrines make promotions much less cluttered and more realistic.

Warrior Monks do not have skill tree. Unique unit (kind of) with unique skill tree, but it was left behind for some reason and without upgrades.

@Mk Z: No worries, your welcome. It'd help if the mod description above stated that you can access the doctrines screen by pressing the X key, but for some reason EwokBaconBits hasn't included that fact in the description as far as I can see.

@Mk Z: The button isn't included in this standalone version, it's a feature of the CQUI version which is currently non-functional as CQUI has not yet been updated for full compatibility with R&F, as I understand it anyway. To access the doctrines screen in this standalone version all you have to do is press the X button on your keyboard, and it will appear on screen. Of course if you map another function to the X key it will cause a conflict, so naturally avoid doing that by not mapping anything else to the X key.

It makes melee units too strong. Calvary is almost useless (besides taking cities) with this mod installed. If the melee perks were balanced more, this would be an excellent mod !

@EwokBaconBits: I found out what was resetting the xp whilst using the Firetuner. It's a command that I found in a forum on CivFanatics, for resetting the map in the Firetuner when a change to the terrain is made involving water (i.e replacing it with land, or replacing land with water). The command was supposedly able to eliminate the need to reload a save game that the changes were made in before being able to exploit the change fully, and it had the side effect of resetting the accumulated doctrine xp in the process.

Ok so I tested the save and it was working for me, I'm not sure why the Firetuner would cause a problem but perhaps its possible.

I also just updated it so that the load order is correct, so you shouldn't need to delete the UnitPromotionsPopup.lua like you were before.

@EwokBaconBits: I have a question: are the different doctrines meant to have their accumulated xp (e.g. 56/160) get reset everytime you load up a save game whilst using this mod? I hadn't noticed this at all previously but it is now appearing that if you haven't (yet) reached the next doctrine promotion before you save a game in progress to come back to later, it resets the accumulated doctrine xp for a doctrine back to 0, even if you already have at least 1 doctrine promotion selected and enabled. Is this supposed to happen? I recently have started using Firetuner in game to tweak the terrain and features of my games in progress, so could it be causing this issue somehow?

The solution is to delete UnitPromotionsPopup.lua from the mod folder for the Better Report Screen mod, and it should work for the older Unit Report Screen mod too if it has that particular file. Hope you find that information helpful.

@EwokBaconBits: Please feel free to disregard the comments below about the new version of Unit Report Screen and that conflict I have previously reported, as the author of the new R&F version of Unit Report Screen has provided me with a solution to the problem, which has solved the issue for me perfectly, allowing me to use both mods concurrently again. :steamhappy:

In the meantime, I will just have to continue to live without any Unit Reports Screen, as this mod for me is the more indispensable of the 2 for my games; the vanilla unit promotions are far too underwhelming and shallow for my liking, especially if contrasted with the sheer number that were aailable in Civilisation IV and its expansions, or even in Civilisation V and it's expansions.

I have taken a screenshot of what it looks like that I can upload to Civfanatics if that will prove useful for trying to resolve the issue, and I am happy to upload any other files that may be helpful for resolving the issue there as well if you are happy (and able) to look into the issue. I have also said the same thing on the workshop page for that other mod's author as well.

There's a new R&F compatible/updated version of the Unit Report Screens mod, called Better Report Screens vanilla/R&F by a different author to the original Unit Report Screens mod (because that versions author has not updated the mod for R&F and despite apparently still being online hasn't responded to any comments post-R&F). However, just like the old version this new version is causing the same issue with the promotions from this mod not appearing at all in the unit promotions screen. I have just notified the author of the new version of that mod of the issue. The common denominator between the 2 versions of those mods and the issue with the promotions screen with this mod active is R&F, as the original Unit Reports Screen and this mod were working perfectly fine together pre-R&F.

@snake_doc: The doctrines button you're referring to is only a feature that is enabled when CQUI is active. To bring up the doctrines screen without CQUI you press the X key, it works perfectly fine even though it doesn't have the button to click on.

really like this mod. i had issues late game when I could not select promotions for boats it was blank. also i have since disabled CQUI as its broken and now I cannot see the option to choose the doctrines. it used to be near the upper left but that icon is gone now. i can unit promote but not access the tree of doctrines. i am on a new game early period so not sure if there is a certain tech to learn first.

@cobber51 Hey no problem, I'll try to think of a work around for the australia UU for moar mods though this may be impossible. I'm going to at least put it on the front description as incompatiable (if people look there any more lol). Thanks for letting me know.

@Dr Chaz I don't know when CQUI comes out. As for my mod it still should work without just press x, you wont see the icon however till CQUI. Although you may already be doing this and just asking about CQUI, which I don't know yet.
