Hmm, I *may* pick this up again at some point. It's low priority though. It's open for unofficial maintenance in the meantime though.

echoing other sentiments, hoping for an update to this as well. it is something that affects any colony, even high end supercolonies, and provides a bit of balancing.

Great mod I like your attention to detail. And vomiting from anesthesia is very common typically they dont let you eat 12 hours before a surgery because you WILL throw up when you get administered.

Ah, I see where you com from. Well, generally after surgery you have little appetite for food, so vomiting is hardly a problem. But in rimworld there is no way to simulate a loss of appetite.

avil - Apparently one of the side-effects of general anesthesia is nausea, and I thought vomiting was the best way to represent that. Not hyper realistic, but I think it could lead to some interesting circumstances for storytelling.

Of course, it's differs on the surgery. I had surgery on innards myself, and got issues with muscles. I could barely sit without exhaustion, and it took me almost a month to recover. But vomiting? Whats vomiting about? Why? Whole hospital of post-surgies, and noone was vometing.

As someone who has been put under with anestesia recently because of an infection in my appendix, i can say these are definetly balanced. Though recovering could possibly be made to be very minor but last 3-8 days.

@Elledal: I can confirm that. I literally can't remember a thing around two weeks after my surgery and it's about 4-5 months later now. Although according to my family, i just laid in my bed most of the time, the rest of it comprised of me walking around saying "HEY YOU DIDJA NO I HAD A SURGERY!" *collapses*

It's a function, though, there shouldn't be any reason you can't call that function when applying things I wouldn't think. Like I said I don't know anything about rimworld modding but I've modded other stuff in similar code bases, so you might be right.

i think if you took the ageFractionChanceCurve stuff you could lock Alzheimer's to older patients.

Alzheimer's in Rimworld, amazingly enough, has a 0% chance at 42% of life expectancy (go go early onset representation!). I suspect that this math is fuzzy in some way so at 42% LE you have a teensy, weensy chance and then at 43% you have some chance between 0% and .06%.

If you tried this and I'm retarded and it doesn't work for some reason then okay whups. I still think Alzheimer's should be a anaesthetic malady because it's the truth, IRL.

Aw. Maybe make it cause some kind of new moodlet that lasts a long time, instead of a condition like alzheimers? Anaesthesic Dementia or something, have it last a couple quadrums? I don't know if that's easy or hard to do or not, knowing nothing about rimworld modding.

Same chance as the nerfed alzheimer's chance but now it's just a malus that goes away after a period of time instead of a permanent condition.

Hmm, I may backtrack on Alzheimer's completely then; it's really not a popular concept. I don't particularly feel like doing a 'LITE' version.

Yeah, Alzheimer's is a no, unless it's restricted to older patients. RNG is my bane and I've already dealt with one Alzheimer's colonist, after which I'd be happy just removing that condition from the game entirely.

Alzheimer's now has a roughly 1 in 258 chance of occuring now. I'd say that's a fair compromise.

I might download the manual version so I can modify it so it's skewed heavily toward older people (I am okay with 1 in 150 applications of general affecting my pawns aged 65 and older, on average, but that seems extremely high for a younger population. I'd push it more toward something like 1 in 500 or so, since it's alzheimers in RW is pretty serious) since that's what the research shows.

As for "The" SeanMacLeod I hope no one believes that dude. One study done many decades ago showed a sort of maybe positive link between aluminum and dementia, no one else has been able to replicate that and there is definitely not GENERAL CONSENSUS. General consensus is reserved for stuff like 'yeah, gravity is a thing' or 'yeah, evolution is real', not 'yeah, that thing the dude stocking shelves at the healthfood store told me is real'

I may or may not change it so that anaesthetic will go on for a quadrum in that case - which is 900,000 ticks, up from the current maximum of 135,000 ticks.

Or there's always the dropbox installation where you can add that stage yourself. Shouldn't be too difficult seeing as everything you need for that is already in.

I realised that I didn't clarify how the anaesthetic actually affects people over the course of those months: Their memory is impaired, first and foremost- however there is a small chance that some memory's won't return! Which is quite a worrying concept when you think about it...

.....but there IS general consensus that aluminum oxide contributes to Alzheimer's development, which is why I never smoke from an aluminum pipe.

Well, I'm not making any tweaks anyway. If you've got a problem with it, either don't use the mod (you probably don't anyway), or get the manual version and tweak it yourself. I rarely get balance feedback, and it's just like going to somewhere you have no clue how to get to, without directions.

I don't understand the Alzheimer's thing. There's no scientific consensus that general anesthesia causes Alzheimer's. According to the numbers you give, about 1 in every 150 administrations of general anesthesia causes Alzheimer's. Does that seem realistic to you?

hmm no i feel ya bud i thought the same when that mastbator mod "came" out.... was pretty much like when fallout 4 first came out the very important mods like the quailty of life and PA mods were the only ones, then the F cup anime breast phikics mods was sure to come eventually and yes they are the top 10 DL mod now on nexus? why ... becuase boobies thats why....

@Dominus Pizza This is a component of my Surgery Tweaks Mod, so it's technically already included.

@Oktakon Very true. I've been at the game for just under 5 months, and I just find it particularly degrading how some mods completely irrelevant to the lore (although admittedly seemingly very-well written), or something as perverse as... monstergirls, gets more press than mods that actually have relevance to the core game and balance enhancements.

I don't mind the little chitchat, but I'll cease to update any of my mods.
