Yes, the units replaced are in ( )
It's not an "ancient pharaohs" unit set, just Egyptian style unit set, made with AoE1 style units.
And I said, it's mainly Dromaderi.
They are both "global" civ reskin, not civ one by one.
I will work on a mod which will reskin unit for civ separatly for each but this will be an "add" version and all the global version will remain.
@LMaquiel
"Camels", in fact it's Dromaredi, not camels, but the unit is named Camels in AoE so I kept the name.
I know Camels were brought to Egypt in -500 B.C. and not before ;)
The unit replaced are not the same.
This pack aim for some AoE1 units and personnal work of mine.
The second pack use Civ3 mods unit made by civfanatic modders to replace infantry and archery line.
The unit replaced is in the description.
Contains the basic infantry and archery line with civ3 egyptian units.
As I've said an another comment, the Cataphract have trample damage, which fit perfectly with the Scythian chariot.
But if you want to use the pack and keep the cataphract it's simple.
Launch the game, go on "workshop" tab, then select my mod, press "open repertory", the navigate to "graphics" and delete the following files : 199.slp 202.slp 205.slp 206.slp 209.slp (those are the cataphract files)
Then you can use my mod without the cataphract reskin until the pack get updated. And even if I update it, you can remove again the file the same way xP
i made all my research like brassbass, but i have done even more so than him. and this is what i know for a fact happened. battlefields just moved away from plains into more of like skirmish type combat in tougher terrain and the way of warrying of the egyptians went the way of the dinosaur. this is also why the phalanx of the greeks was replaced by the tactics of the romans later on. it was better suited to the alpine terrain of italy
@BILLBARAKA
But these AoE 1 Sprites clash HARD with the new ones though.
Which sprites ?
The red dragon in alpha files ? x'D
Maybe for the deadly monkey ? (xD)
Okay, makes sense.
Cataphract conversion is because the AoE2 cataphract is the only unit with Horse that can do trample damages.
That's why the Scythian Chariot is on it. (the total conversion project change entirely the styles of arabic civ sets to egypt like civs, byzantins are on it)
Nice job, though.
Camel coming soon.
This isn't a civilization (Set means "setting")
The archer is the regular archer (archery camp)
Javeliner is the regular skirmisher (archery camp)
Chariot Javeliner replace Berbers special unit called Genitor (archery camp)
Chariot replace Byzantin unique unit Cataphract (from castle)
Chariot Archer replace regular Cavalry Archer (archery camp)
The only unit you cannot see in normal game is the Swordman, which require to be added to scenario with the Scenario editor (Eastern Swordman)
Exactly !
AoE2 playstyle with antiques units, and more is coming !
press "subscribe" button.
Then start your game.
At the moment it is multiple pack with the tag [AoAE] you can find on steam workshop.
Advanced Genie Editor to extract file from Age of Empires 1.
Turtle Pack to extract image from the file and convert them to AoE2 format.
ImageMagick to convert, by scripted batch home made, the pixels into other color.
Gimp to correct thing manually.
All of those programs are free to downloand and use. (and I'm using that under windows 10)
