At one point I had over 100 trade cogs raising 123 Gold per trip and took my Gold up to about 800k before I got bored and sunk them all. Whilst I probably could have played it as you intended I managed to get at least a week of play before I finally killed off the excess units and used them to wipe the final castles. The enemy monks were just the right amount of nuisance that I had to keep alert to stop from losing important units.
I had kept Alba's port alive for the trade. So I had to keep forces stomping on the Woad warriers and their barracks. Easily resolved when I captured 6 Elite Boyers.
Excellent scenario. One of the best single gamer scenarios I have seen. This is what makes AoE2 still a great game worthy of keeping installed.
when i got it
instantly downloaded, was worth it
Although the betrayals are annoying, still a fun Campaign 10/10. If you station 2-3 Elite Beserkers + a hero (since Beserkers and heroes heal themselves) at the Jarl Halls the revolts are easily quelled.
I can recommend anyone to try it out.
few critiques though: since it's an amazing mod these should not deter you from trying it out.
- Ragnar's sons start spawning well before you capture/rescue/save aslaug. (probably time dependent and I was slow, but ye)
- random viking army from the east came out of nowhere and wiped me, had to reload lol.
- WHERE THE HELL IS LAGERTHA.
- suffers from the same problems as all AOE2 campaigns: can be cleared with range units that have a longer range than others. (in this case the elite longboats)
- I know the rebelling factions are supposed to do that, but eventually it just became a nuisance having to go back and wipe them out. Not difficult, just annoying.
overall it's an amazing mod with nice sound effects, good story and I had 0 bugs.
By custom, I always try to finish the games without losing a single soldier or building ... so I attack with small groups that can quickly escape at the slightest sign of trouble.
At the beginning of the game, I used Ragnar and left a war group in the one place where they would not be at risk of being attacked: exactly in front of Jarl Hall.
When you asked if Bjorn had already been born, I figured that he could have appeared without being noticed and went to look for him... after moving the swordsmen, Bjorn appeared and the game continued. Remember: there is no work so well done that a fool can not ruin it.
Now, I can thank you for the kindness of answering my question and praising this scenario.
Definitely one of the most extensive and fun games I've played in AoE ... and note that I've been playing for almost 20 years.
Congratulations!
So far, I've played for 30 hours, killed 1365 evil people and destroyed 356 buildings.
The problem is that some trigger must have been lost... It may be possible to attack York Castle without siege machines, but that would certainly be very costly. The castle of Mercia had not Murder Holes but York (and Wessex) possessed. On the other hand, one of the counties has a siege workshop, and I suppose by that time I should have been using that building.
Btw, I have visited all the lords of all countries several times.
Can anyone tell me which trigger I lost?
Thanks for listening. Sorry for my bad English.
After looting the monastery and taking possession of the first Jarl Hall, I took the second (northwest) and the third (northeast).
Then I explored the map. I found a war party on an island in the south, then the three lost Vikings. I was lucky to find them before Blizzard recruited them to Heroes of the Storm... after all, they were unemployed for a long time...
I sacked the island of Mann, and then I found and recruited some shamans. Thanks to the rebellions in Northwest County, I used the shamans to recruit 8 longboats. With these longboats and ten more knights of Wessex, it was a simple task to destroy the barricades and kill the odious tax collectors.
Meanwhile, in spite of killing them, the covetous French continued to send tax collectors. To end the problem, i decided to raze the Frankia.
Then I destroyed the blue cathedral and also sent the kingdom of Alba to Valhala.
(to be continued)
But it has been along time without any of your works, hopefully soon you will release another campaign¡
