I wish this was ported to AOE2 DE. It is so great.
Loxodontox Mar 16, 2023 @ 11:14am
Damn, I wish this was in English for DE. This is easily among the more difficult campaigns to beat on Hard in Chinese when you know not a single word lol. Level 1 is one of the ONLY custom or official campaign levels I have not been able to beat in Chinese. @bassi did you also do the Genghis Khan custom campaign posted by Cly? That is the other apparently older custom campaign I have difficulty with--meaning, unclear how to beat. I guess I will just load HD back up lol. BTW, The Rise of Tamerlane II is 11/10!
Monroe Jul 4, 2022 @ 3:17pm
I'll give that a shot. Thanks @Bassi
bassi  [author] Jun 28, 2022 @ 1:47am
@Monroe: ok! That's not a campaign-specific bug, but a general bug that can happen from time to time. Just restart the second mission and end it by cheat "(I R Winner"); most of the times that already does the trick and the next scenario unlocks.
Monroe Jun 27, 2022 @ 9:39pm
@bassi

Correct, I beat the second map and the third did not start. Only gave me the option to beat the first and second again.
bassi  [author] Jun 14, 2022 @ 2:09am
@Monroe: What do you mean by "campaign restarted after beating the second map"? Did the third scenario not unlock?
Monroe Jun 13, 2022 @ 7:49pm
Campaign restarted after beating the second map. First and second maps were great and holy hell tough. Recommend it for pro players. Disappointed that the campaign bugged on me but still worth a thumbs up for the two maps I did play (since they aren't tied by a storyline).

Much less than the 5th.
Khabul Khan after red became your enemy, only twice.
The Tamerlane one had this issue when the orange spawned on map. Reloading a previous saved game make me suspicious about the reason of random crashes.
Hulagu no problems
The Toktamysh no problems too.

The problem in the Jamuhka scenario is when red comes to help Kushluk (and they are your enemies) and later when everyone is inside Genghis Khan base. Other than that, the scenarios for me was a good challenge.:AOEKnight:
bassi  [author] Nov 26, 2021 @ 8:34am
The other four scenarios did not crash? @Coranhon
Coranhon Nov 26, 2021 @ 8:00am
Sometimes in your campaign, any of the scenario crashes because of a spawning enemy. If I reload it, some ''event'' happens like intended. I read that someone didn't go after the rescue of Burtei, probably he doesn't saved. I did and after the 1st crash, the intro to the horse stealer happened. But after the 2nd flag captured, the game just closes itself.
bassi  [author] Nov 26, 2021 @ 7:40am
@Coranhon: Thanks for your comment. I have no idea why the scenario crashes for you. You are the first to report such an issue. I feel this is not a trigger related bug though, so it is unlikely I can fix this myself..
Coranhon Nov 26, 2021 @ 5:59am
I finally finished the campaign but in the end, tried to get the 3rd genghis khan flag but the game keep crashing, even a load game crash afterwards. A save from minutes earlier was fine but why this scenario keeps crashing after rescuing Burtei, is beyong my comprehension.

Loved your map design, objectives and the difficulty but a game that menaces to crash (probably because of all triggers it have?) is not enjoyable. I wish i could read the aftermatch description too but had to cheat.

@Anthrakhnosis: Thanks! I designed several campaigns for Age of Empires II DE.
bassi  [author] Nov 17, 2019 @ 3:41am
thanks, a lot! @Creeping Goat.
Creeping Goat Nov 16, 2019 @ 7:22pm
Just finished your new one @bassi. It was excellently made and very fun. I played on standard difficulty because lolnoob but i never found it too difficult. There was a good amount of pressure from the enemies but nothing that couldnt be handled. I also liked the first part of mission 1, very nice addition.
bassi  [author] Nov 16, 2019 @ 6:47am
thanks, @Creeping Goat!
Looking forward to your feedback. :)

God bless you bassi for gifting us these lovely campaigns. You never disappoint.:steamhappy:

For all of you who cannot get enough of Mongol themed campaigns:
I have just released the very first custom campaign for AoE II DE:

-- The Golden Horde --
Available in aok.heaven's download center now:

DoomedPaul772 Nov 12, 2019 @ 4:03pm
They are both very strong, also while you still have to do most of the work, yellow is somewhat more helpful if you do their quests early.
DoomedPaul772 Nov 12, 2019 @ 4:02pm
@[8thAL.G][Pvt]Ziu: I remember that one being especially hard. You always have to kite attacking troops to your castle. It took me hours, but I eventually built up to beat the White Horde, Timur and the Blue Horde in that order.
The last King of Scotland Nov 12, 2019 @ 12:48pm
bassi i still have problems leading tokhtamysh to victory please help . Both hordes are painfully strong, the slavic uprising and timur are an additional pain and the golden horde allies dont do much.
DoomedPaul772 Nov 10, 2019 @ 1:20am
Is the siege of delhi going to be used for the official tamerlane campaign?
bassi  [author] Nov 6, 2019 @ 3:56am
@DoomedPaul772: Those are all interesting ideas, which would definitly make a good campaign. We'll see what the future will bring :)
DoomedPaul772 Sep 5, 2019 @ 6:37pm
There's a lot of Mongol conquests that haven't been broached in detail. Do you think you might make a Kublai campaign in the future? I could see 1. Conquest of Dali 2. Toluid civil war with Hulagu against Ariq Boke and the Golden Horde 3. Battle of Xiangyiang 4. Conquest of Goryeo 5. The invasion of Southeast Asia 6. Battle of Yamen
DoomedPaul772 Sep 5, 2019 @ 5:28pm
That sounds interesting, so I guess the first one would be the conquest of Kievan Rus and the Kipchaks? The original game touched on it briefly but skimmed like much of the campaign, put the Merkits in Cumania and made everyone frailer.
Are we going to need the DE?
bassi  [author] Sep 2, 2019 @ 9:39am
@DoomedPaul772:
It will be a 10 scenario campaign about the Golden Horde, from the beginning until the decline.
DoomedPaul772 Sep 2, 2019 @ 8:55am
What campaigns are the new Mongol campaign you're planning going to be about?
DoomedPaul772 Aug 31, 2019 @ 6:56pm
Thinking what else could be done. There's the defeat of the Sejluks, Kublai's campaigns against the rest of China, Korea and Pagan (last would need Rise of Raja).
DoomedPaul772 Aug 31, 2019 @ 6:52pm
Very well made scenario, one of the best I've played! It was very hard and I had to save many times but defeating it was rewarding.
bassi  [author] Jul 20, 2019 @ 3:40pm
@Farimba: No, it is not.
Druzhina Jul 20, 2019 @ 12:33am
Is this campaign related to "the last khan" in the definitive edition?
bassi  [author] Jul 10, 2019 @ 11:32am
@Medve: Try tasking him in a group with other units; that should solve the issue.
Medve Jul 10, 2019 @ 7:21am
On the first misson, when you can controll the monks, one of them get stuck on the building :(
Poxo Jul 5, 2019 @ 4:39am
2nd:

As stated the 1st day, some things I didn't enjoy that much:
- Too many heroes to take care of, at the start where you are microing them is nice, after 1 or more hours I don't really want to take care of them.
- The lack of enemy economy, at some points I could really feel that it was just a matter of keep pushing and they will eventually crumble, i'd prefer if somehow the enemy could have some type of real economy and killing it would affect their army production.

--
For those who have problems winning, there is a 'repetitive' mechanic that you have to do on this campaigns:
1st secure your base/eco, with castles, you need to be able to have an untoched economy for a while
2nd produce your best unit combo, usually mangudai+rams, if you are limited to castle age add light cavs
3rd keep pushing and don't drop population, 15 stables and 5 castles are not too many.
Poxo Jul 5, 2019 @ 4:36am
Finished, probably one of the best if not the best B&D campaign I've ever played.

Playability, perfect, i didn't find any problem while playing.
Balance, not the best dificult curve, clearly the hardest one is the 1st one, 4th is probably the easiest. I didn't trade in any of the scenarios and I didn't feel like i really need to, however i could see how many resources were getting tight at some point (this is good).
Creativity, we have seen many mongols campaigns but f**** it, this is brilliant and beyond any other before.
Map design, insane, everything looked 100% how i would like it to be.
Story/Instructions, the fact that's not a real campaign/one hero is something meh, but in general the history is interesting in each scenario, with a short of epic feeling and not being long.

kud13 Jul 4, 2019 @ 7:47pm
When playing as the Mongols, any problem can be resolved with the appropriate combination of Mangudai and rams
bassi  [author] Jul 4, 2019 @ 11:44am
@Ziu: Yh, it's pretty tough. There are playthrough videos on youtube, maybe watching them could be helpful.

@KasasPoxo: Ha, yes, this is a very, very questionable design choice I did there.
The last King of Scotland Jul 4, 2019 @ 11:34am
Toqtamysh's mission is way too hard. The white horde is a pain. Even with the help of timurids and other khans they just screw you up
Poxo Jul 4, 2019 @ 10:53am
Just lost the 5th mission, one of the guys I had to save died, he was in his own castle but it changed ownership to Genghis Khan GG 11
Poxo Jul 3, 2019 @ 2:13am
hey again.

Just played the 3rd mission, loosing after 2 hours because i killed the enemy king is not something i liked 11.

2nd and 3rd seem easier than previous one, since it's easier to get stone enough for a castle. Once you have 2/3 castles on each side you just need to prepare the army for the attack, once again, good games :)
bassi  [author] Jun 27, 2019 @ 4:06pm
@KasasPoxo:
Thanks for your detailed feedback, I think the points you bring up make sense. The KoD was made to be challenging for very experienced players and looking back I have to admit it's a bit rough on the edges and too tedious here and there. My later works are more balanced and so will be my future projects.
Poxo Jun 27, 2019 @ 2:25pm
2nd part:

I don't like the idea of having to many units to take care of, specially playing it on Steam, on one of my tries, after dealing with the two nomad trives and the chinese i was told to met with the king, however, my mangudai king decided to stop in the middle of the run and fight Kithan alone, he died, after 2/3 hours of gameplay and at a point i knew i had won.

Anyway looking good and challenging, warming up for TLK campaigns ^^

Btw any plans on doing a Teutonic vs Lithuania campaign? featuring lake Peipus battle / Tannenber or the Nordern Crusade?
Poxo Jun 27, 2019 @ 2:25pm
Finished the 1st scenario, a couple of coments:

The start is rough, but after one or two tries the player should learn how to deal with it, should be easier if the initial troops could be upgraded somehow, anyway i liked it.
The ending was too long, at some point i kind of feel i was just smashing troops against my enemies while constantly checking not to get defeated by a sneck attack, could be cool to add some short of fake eco for the enemies, so if you raid their farms they lose some strengh till they get up on vills again, or maybe with houses, limit the number of houses/tents they have so destroying some of them makes an impact in the game (ofc the AI should rebuild them if you don't keep preshing)
bassi  [author] May 31, 2019 @ 11:04am
@okidoki: it will cover the rise and fall of the Golden Horde and will include 10 scenarios.
okikoki May 31, 2019 @ 8:07am
Bassi what will be the name of your campaign?
Check Your Posture! May 9, 2019 @ 7:25pm
Why not have the gate "Locked". That way the king can't get out and maybe find another way of getting the castle produced unites out. Or maybe just box the king in?
bassi  [author] May 9, 2019 @ 5:48pm
@Remco ت : that's exactly what is done: A looping trigger should keep the unit in its place, a common trick used in scenarios since ages -- yet buggy in HD, sadly ...
Check Your Posture! May 9, 2019 @ 4:29pm
I found a way to win the scenario. It took a few tries but it worked.

What I did was first wall off the exit of the canyon with houses. (I made my wall close to the final part of purples base) Then I put all my unites on no attack stand (to avoid accidentally killing the king) and began destroying all the production buildings and castles in purples base. The king only started to move when I was at the last part of the base so I was lucky in that. I kept making trash and rams until all buildings and unites were gone. I brought Hulagu to the flag but nothing happened because you also need to purple king. I started to delete my forward production buildings but kept my house wall intact. After deleting my buildings the king suddenly walked to the flag and I achieved my objective!

I'm not sure if I was very lucky or if this works reliable.

@bassi, thanks for the reply, should this not be fixed fairly easily? Make a task object for the king with looping on?
