Does somebody know if there is Platin on the moon?
DerpyDeritos Jun 19, 2022 @ 3:32pm
Is there any ice on the moon now tho?
Boobies Jun 1, 2022 @ 9:04pm
Hey mate, great idea. Whilst I love realism and therefore this mod and the earth one, I do think it needs ore or why would it even be placed within a Space Engineers solar system? :) Is that hard to do? I'd be happy to do it once I know how but I do think it needs some ore.

Hello Duke of Lorraine. I am building a new large scale server and would like to use some of your planets. May I republish them to alter their ore maps? I will create a link to the original mod in the description. :) Thank you

Great moon mod, but after I spawn it and land on the moon, I can hear wind. Any idea how to make it stop?
eron Aug 14, 2020 @ 6:22am
Hello, can I use your mod as a base to create the version with the correct selenography?
Doctor Strong May 30, 2020 @ 4:27pm
Hello, how are you? How did you manage to compress the mod with _legacy.bin, and where are the 17 initial numbers generated?

Is Economy Working on this ?

Would be nice if you included ores that the moon actually has, otherwise this is a pretty good moon.
Runian Sep 30, 2019 @ 11:43pm
Q - Does it have all the ores
SwineyPTSD Apr 18, 2019 @ 12:11pm
i cant spawn it its not in the planet list terra is though ¿

Awesome mod, really,

I feel only the need to correct your quote. Neil Armstrong said "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind"

The "A" is often omitted when quoting, as the radio cut out briefly during the transmission, and it was missed. Armstrong latter corrected this statement after he landed. And when you consider the context in which it was used, it makes more sense after the correction.
Engellus Mar 12, 2019 @ 6:21pm
@Duke of Lorraine, does this planet still work with the recent release?
cdl3050 Sep 5, 2018 @ 8:32am
The Real Moon has significant concentrations of Silicon, Iron and Magnesium, among others.
There is water-ice in the bottom of the polar craters.
Please take a look at the wikipedia pages for more details:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_soil
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geology_of_the_Moon

Also, Please take a look at the "Clementine Iron Map of the Moon." There are substantial regions of the Moon which are 14% iron by weight %.
(Other lunar prospecting maps show even larger concentrations of Iron.)

This website has some interesting data points too:
www.permanent.com/lunar-geology-minerals.html

It would be great if you could update the ore-resources part of this mod.

Your Efforts are Appreciated. Thank You.

I followed Doctor Octoganapus' tutorial on youtube. It was enough for me to do my planets, it should be enough for you.

As for converting the heightmap, Paint + Bixorama. But I've heard Photoshop can do it too.
TinkerHat Mar 6, 2018 @ 9:50am
can you make me my fictional planet? im not too sure how to make planets and it wont work for me at all XC
DGW Jan 14, 2018 @ 8:15pm
isn't it one small step for "a" man? niel's transmission cut out. but anyways this is awesome and what a friend of mine is looking for, i'll shoot him a link.
Ƿynnþrýð Nov 5, 2017 @ 6:59am
@Thakao The moon has lots of iron in it's core, so maybe you will have to dig deeper to get to the resources?
Lunacity Nov 5, 2017 @ 4:46am
id really love some resources altough the moon really looks awesome id really sad that teres no resources, what about a separate mod that has resources
Duke of Lorraine  [author] Sep 25, 2017 @ 2:30pm
@Thausent well, it is. The moon was formed when a small planet impacted the earth. That left 2 piles of materials, the heavier one (earth) attracting the heavy elements such as metals, leaving only light rocks to be ejected far enough to form the moon.
Nukelear Chicken Sep 25, 2017 @ 7:09am
Would love to see resource on the moon! It isn't possible that the real moon doesn't have any resources at all.
LunaCrusader Aug 2, 2017 @ 5:20pm
You called?
Ƿynnþrýð Jun 21, 2017 @ 8:42am
I tried that, but Luna doesn't turn up in the list. I have a few other planets installed, and they turn up, but not Luna for some reason. The mod is enabled and everything.

Alexandre Fyne@ Shift f10 and find the moon and place it where you want
Ƿynnþrýð Jun 18, 2017 @ 1:23pm
This isn't turning up in my planet list for some reason. Anyone know why?
MrEvan312 May 21, 2017 @ 12:42pm
Thanks to your fantastic, accurate moon mod, I was able to make a pretty decent little short film. It was as close to "on location" as one could get in this game! The story is set in Tsiolkosky crate and, oddly enough, it seems to have been included where it should be on the moon's surface.

You made the movie happen :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KksqZbP00QA&lc=z13ihvljvmb4gzzho04cjrrrzmqcynkyekk0k

More like Earth being called Sol3.
BigHeehee Apr 16, 2017 @ 10:55pm
@Duke of Lorraine
Well if aliens showed up, or if we actually colonized a planet, we'd start using latin words more commonly to refer to things, such as Earth being called "Terra" and the moon being called "Luna."
Duke of Lorraine  [author] Apr 16, 2017 @ 2:32pm
@ SenorHeehee the latin name not only sounds good to my hears, but also because it feels more universal that way

@ Saccaro you can place it at any distance. But the problem with scale in SE is that, unless using a speed mod, you're still bottlenecked with speed. I don't know the exact details but you need to be quite fast to make a there-and-back trip to the Moon in a few days (so less than an hour at 1/100th scale)
Zach Delaware Howard Spargecarro Apr 16, 2017 @ 9:21am
Problem is if you want the earth and the moon to be a scaled distance apart then you'd have to place them 3 800 in game km away (assuming the earth was 120km)
BigHeehee Apr 15, 2017 @ 6:20pm
I like how you named it Luna.
That feels very 40k. C:
JeSuisLeLama Apr 6, 2017 @ 4:29am
I can't play whit this tow planet, how I wan play withe them?
tommorox2345 Mar 22, 2017 @ 12:06am
yup

Pixaurora Mar 18, 2017 @ 10:16am
this mod is amazing!
Duke of Lorraine  [author] Mar 12, 2017 @ 11:06am
There isn't any ores because I last updated this planet before I found out how to place ores, and I have a busy schredule at the moment. The "realism" is nothing but a convenient excuse xD
NullMagic Mar 11, 2017 @ 4:34pm
I know you mentioned you're not sure if you'll place ores (due to realism, which I respect), however would it be a lot of work to get a version with ores to go along with a version without? If it's too much trouble (as I have no idea how long it actually takes to set up ores) I would probably say don't bother, however I think it'd be nice to have the option for those who are looking for the beauty of the mod without necessarily the scarcity of resources that realism would normally impose.
SoulTechnology Mar 11, 2017 @ 10:03am
even thought theys be much less then earth, id be cool to see the moon with recources. this+lack of atmosphere would make it difficult to survive on the moon in SE. but earth or any other planet in system could obviously have there own risks (players/mobs/or just play a sim-esc game with mods?)
Bailiff, Smack His Nuts Mar 2, 2017 @ 2:55pm
When will you realease the next planet/Moon/Asteroid?
Copycat80 Feb 17, 2017 @ 4:02pm
ahhhh
Duke of Lorraine  [author] Feb 17, 2017 @ 3:53pm
Neil Armstrong didn't pronounce the "a"

Copycat80 Feb 17, 2017 @ 11:03am
sorry to correct you but "small step for (a) man............."
Proscrito Feb 16, 2017 @ 6:08pm
Hey, are you ever going to make anymore of the Scarmony WWII planes? i thought those were very cool and i'd like to see more.
jackik Feb 16, 2017 @ 7:06am
i think the moon looks somewhat more realistic than our terracotta earth. i wish there was some way of applying fog or something the like to it. also nice work!
Duke of Lorraine  [author] Feb 15, 2017 @ 5:11pm
Although I plan to update it, don't expect it to be at the level of Earth. The Moon is so much simpler and monotonous than our glorious planet.
