Anyone find a script that works with this? The last one I used isnt working anymore.
Sovietkotek May 21 @ 11:17pm
Yeah I just set it to welding only and ignore the whole grinding part, too much to think about.
Abisius Xarvenius Carbensius May 21 @ 10:47pm
@andywht
dont know either why it decides to randomly eat stuff and as far as comments and posts inside the bug reports discussion over the last few years go i am not alone with it.

i have done all steps i can do from a moduser side for trying to isolate and solve it but besides it happening in every world i open up with it after atleast 1 bars is a few dozen hours build with just bars in the world as long as the janitor has more selected than just grinding enemy blocks i could neither narrow it down further nor solve it.

there is definitly something going on as i tried some other versions of bars and i couldnt reproduce it with anyone i tried that got updated in the last 2 years.

though id also like to note down that i am mainly use aie in most worlds nowadays and bars just in a few settings and when i use it the rebalanced version of SKO85 where i dont have probs with bars owned by me eating random stuff i own.
andywht May 21 @ 9:48pm
@Abisius Xarvenius Carbensius - I'm playing Survival Impossible scenario right now, with Reavers, Imber and Assert. BAR grinds enemy grids and not touching mine. Plus I have over 70 mods along with it. I wonder why does it work for me and not for you?
@SKO85
doing a clean modredownload (deleting all files related to the mod i have probs with from the main and worlspecific storage folder and the workshopfolder of the steam library in which se is installed before triggering a redownload via resubbing and then waiting till its finished without touching it or doing anything else) is one of the first things i do when i have probs with mods, directly after a modconflictcheck and telling steam to check for file integrety.
so iam pretty sure i got the latest version.

random stuff owned by me getting eaten by a bars owned by me while the janitor is allowed to grind neutral stuff is also a problem i encountered so far only with the original bars since the survival kit is out and not with any of your versions.
SKO85 May 21 @ 5:11am
@Abisius Xarvenius Carbensius, you should make sure you have the latest version. Steams sometimes does strange things with updating mods, Re-Subscribe works most of the time outside the game.
andywht May 18 @ 2:03pm
@Abisius Xarvenius Carbensius - that is very strange indeed. I've read in your answer regarding "janitor grinds neutral blocks", hence made that comment. I have both settings off at all times.
@andywht
somehow i doubt you read my comment fully as you told to turn the "grind unowned blocks" off while i have already stated that if it is on it is eating stuff it shouldnt which by itself should by basic logic already tell that its off due to its problems (which it has for years even before updates to this mod stopped), heck if you go far enough back you will find comments of me saying it and telling others having probs with it that turning this option off stops wheels beeing eaten.
besides that while testing around with just this version of bars and no other mod in the world this results in bars not doing anything at all besides consuming power.
andywht May 18 @ 12:48pm
Little update: I haven't bought last 2 DLC's, but running the latest game version, as it automatically updates with Steam
andywht May 18 @ 12:46pm
@SKO85 - Yes, playing with it right now along with other 70+ mods
@Abisius Xarvenius Carbensius - Set "Janitor grinds not owned blocks" to Off
Abisius Xarvenius Carbensius May 18 @ 12:00pm
@andywht
for me it doesnt work properly even after making a clean redownload.

besides wheels, subgrids with no ownable block on it and random not ownable blocks beeing eaten if you allow the janitor to grind neutral stuff it doesnt do anything.
SKO85 May 18 @ 11:37am
@andywht, are you sure? With the latest game version? I definitely know this is one is broken.
andywht May 18 @ 10:20am

This is one of the best mods of all time.
@The Autistic Page
that isnt due to a mod conflcit its due to this version of bars beeing deadly out of date and already having had probs with grinding unowned subgrids like wheels beforehand while it was still maintained.
i suggest searching a still maintained version of bars and look if you have the same problem there or not and you have there a far better chance to get it fixed.

or you do the same as me and switch over to aie and have fun with robot helpers.
The Autistic Page Mar 18 @ 11:34am
For some reason even when all the settings are correct some of my units GRIND my base or ships. This is when it is set to welding only and grind colors are also off. Any idea if there are conflicts with specific other mods?

For those that can't find the blocks: they are gated by the progression system.

Change the world/global settings. Check the pinned thread titled "Block Settings".
Dr.Theo Feb 8 @ 1:18pm
is there a way to make it more faster?
@fyreeater
dont think this version of bars is getting an update anytime in the visible future, though there are still maintained versions of it out there.
fyreeater Feb 6 @ 8:20pm
Is the build and repair going to get updated. I want to use it. But it has been crashing on some games.
@Swiftie @CaveDweller
this version of bars is atm deadly out of date and looks like Dummy08 is no longer around to update it, but there are others versions of bars out there stil beeing kept up to date or even aktivly beeing worked on.

i for my part switched over form bars to aie as i find that one far more fun.
Swiftie Feb 2 @ 9:30pm
Just jumping back into the game and this mod seems to be dead. I cant even find it in the build menu any more. RIP
CaveDweller Feb 2 @ 3:49pm
@lordgamer7225

I'm going to say doubtful considering this mod appears to no longer be updated. Though I do hope something similar appears. A lot of my builds are designed with this mod as a core component
lordgamer7225 Feb 2 @ 1:39pm
is there any plans to move to space engineers 2?
@McStone
id like to point out that you might want to look for a more up to date version of bars, there are multiple avaible inside the workshop.

besides that the wheels beeing eaten is due to se ownership handling and any subgrid without a ownable block (which wheels are) counting as kinda neutral and thus keeping the default janitor setting of janitoring unowned and neutral stuff results in them beeing eaten.
McStone Jan 15 @ 6:35am
Thank you for this mod, it is an essential on our server and I think most others now. It does, however, famously love eating the wheels off of rovers. Even if it is on the same rover grid while you are actively driving around. Is it possible to add a toggle to 'ignore wheels' from the janitor? Even if this results in a hard exception to ignores all wheels even if painted, the tradeoff to hand grind them is worth not having them get randomly eaten off.

Also, the priority list is broken, it only grids furthers/nearest first.

Thank you again for this most excellent mod!

Yes! Near the end of the description you'll find the link to a script that helps automate a lot of that!

Tell me, is it possible to tell Nanobot to make the missing parts? It's a bit of a pain to do them ourselves. Thanks for your answers!
HeyLookitsParrot! Jan 6 @ 12:45pm
Running into an issue as of late, unsure if anyone else is having the same. but no matter what i try i cannot get large grid build systems to work most of the time, the od time i can get them to weld, but for the life of me i cannot get them to grind, ive set the colours and the priority but no dice. any help would be appreciated.
@Жириновский
that would be the one that is the most up to date one i know of.

Junoh Jan 4 @ 12:44am
@Abisius thanks for letting us know about there being other branches. I'm gonna use the SKO85 one, Nanobot Build and Repair System (Maintained).
Жириновский Jan 3 @ 11:07pm
@Abisius which fork would you recommend? From which user?
Around999People Jan 3 @ 8:01pm
So, is it me or is the grind priority list broken? No matter what I set it to, it either does the further possible blocks or the nearest possible blocks. Oftentimes resulting in it grinding armor before it ever gets to any of the more important bits. I've set armor to the lowest priority. I've set it to the highest. I've set it to nearest, to furthest, to smallest, etc.
@Жириновский
its most probably one of the probs having creeped up over time due to this version of bars beeing deadly out of date and as it looks not having an update anytime soon.
i suggest using a more up to date version of bars.
Жириновский Jan 3 @ 7:39am
I ran into a problem. Downloaded the blueprint (from my other save). 1/4 of the ship was welded, and then the nanobots began to repair themselves (?) Iskra simply jumps on the nanobot blocks themselves and consumes resources without creating anything. How can I fix this? We play on a dedicated server.
Itami Jan 1 @ 9:16am
when they are trying to build a blueprint off of a projector, it will start welding a block and then that block will disappear and will infinitely try to weld that block even though its invisible.
CaveDweller Dec 29, 2024 @ 2:37pm
@ Adrios

are you sure it was repairing and not disassembling? =P
Adrios Dec 29, 2024 @ 1:43pm
Love the Mod, plugged it into my ship and it repaired thing that I didn't know were broken.
Junoh Dec 28, 2024 @ 2:50pm
If you have progression enabled then you might not have it unlocked yet. Check to see where it is in progression. It's probably somewhere in the assembler tech tree.
rdn Dec 28, 2024 @ 1:38pm
help guys nanobot build and repair work in creative mode only the block doesn't show in survival
Coxie Dec 28, 2024 @ 1:16pm
Does anyone know of a complimentary mod that adds some kind of maintenance task. i.e. a nanobot assembler?

I know the idea of the build and repair system is to make it easier to make things. But I think some kind of mod to serve as a material input to the build and repair machine would be cool. For example a nanobot factory that requires iron to build nanobots, and the nanobots only last for so long.

Some people will probably think this is a stupid idea which is fair enough but just wondering if there is anything like that out there?
Reaper [DK] Dec 23, 2024 @ 12:09am
Hallo i have a problem with the mod on my server, i changed the range of them. But the range seems to keep resetting to like 200m. And i dont know why.
Junoh Dec 22, 2024 @ 4:47pm
It tries to grind in the safe zone from my experience but can't grind a block fully.
xblackstargamingx Dec 22, 2024 @ 2:06pm
Will build and repair grind black if the build and repair is in a safe zone and the grid needing to be dismantled is in a safe zone?
