Everything about this is perfect! BUT! I'd still suggest replacing the door at the end of the hall with a window allowing us to select a background. That way we can make it space. just a bit of immersion

@kideternal that is such a bummer, these environments are WAY better than the alternative ones. I've used this one pretty much since I bought my Vive because of how good it is and how great it made the VR room feel.

@itsZerdath/T.TV: Sadly, it does appear that new versions of SteamVR have removed support for original Home environments. (A while ago, they removed the ability for devs to update them, else I'd have improved this one further.) I think this is a shame, as the old environments loaded very quickly and had a small footprint.

I'm swamped with other projects, but if someone wants to take a crack at migrating this to the new Steam Home format, the files are available for download here: http://vroom.space/holodeck-dooropen.zip

Does this still work? It disappeared from my settings and I can't figure out how to get it back.

Very nice work though some of the lines around the door could use adjusting according to this image https://imgur.com/r/virtualreality/BbswJsc

I believe it's source 2. It was mentioned in the commentary of one of the vrhome environments valve released. Well it's not really crucial, keep doing what you're doing.
kideternal  [author] Jun 3, 2017 @ 2:53pm
@WinterMutation Yeah, it doesn't look as nice with whatever new renderer they're using. I may update it in the future when I get time, but right now I'm super-busy with http://patreon.com/vroomspace/
WinterMutation Jun 3, 2017 @ 2:13am
Well that sucks. I can't even get this or any environment to load in the standard compositor since the last few betas. I just notice this looks extremely banded when viewing even from the original static position.
kideternal  [author] Jun 2, 2017 @ 11:05am
@WinterMutation VRHome Beta adds the ability to move around within the environment. Both the model and lightmap were designed to be seen from a static position.
WinterMutation Jun 1, 2017 @ 10:12pm
Looks nice, but in vrhome beta the lightmap is very bad quality for some reason.

Sencillo y fantástico, y gasta poquitos recursos.
kideternal  [author] May 19, 2017 @ 1:55am
@Peachslices @Avatizer The model is installed on your local disk in a Steam subfolder somewhere. It's just a basic .obj file, so if you guys want to do something with it feel free.
kideternal  [author] May 19, 2017 @ 12:45am
@Avatizer Hmmm, looks interesting, I may just do that. Have my hands full just now though on a patch for Magnificent Ships: Volume 1 , and I have to do two more patches for other titles after that. Could be a while!
Avatizer May 18, 2017 @ 9:55pm
With new SteamVR update, can this be updated with the Enterprise hum and maybe some other appropriate sounds coming from the hall?
peachslices Feb 1, 2017 @ 8:23am
I feel like I can walk out into the corridor. Amazing.

Any chance of getting the cide for this? would love to make some edit in Unity for this.

This makes me feel like Moriarty stuck on the holodeck. The enterprise is just on the other side of that door, but I can't reach it.
iTrooper Nov 20, 2016 @ 7:13am
Definitely one of my favourites along with the closed door version of the Holodeck.
smurf Nov 6, 2016 @ 9:53pm
soo... total workshop newb here.. how do i actually download this and try it out?
Psiman Oct 23, 2016 @ 5:48am
Awesome enviroment. Certainly one of the best for Steam VR. I like showing it to friends if it is their first time in VR. It really blows their mind as they don't expect to step onto the holodeck from The Next Generation. It is a really fitting enviroment for the medium.
Squishy_Gummy Sep 12, 2016 @ 12:36pm
Thank you for getting this right. With some others, it seems you are floating in the air, or the scale is not right.

this is my favorite.
glyphery Jun 27, 2016 @ 1:14am
Nice work merging these!
kideternal  [author] Jun 22, 2016 @ 3:00pm
@Trematode Fixed! :)
kideternal  [author] Jun 22, 2016 @ 2:59pm
@spazzium Noted. I've updated the texture to be smoother. (Still ain't perfect, but I don't have the original lighting render setup to do that. It's much better now though.)
Trematode Jun 21, 2016 @ 12:11am
Great work. One thing though, my playspace is 4m wide, and I can see the end of the hallway geometry if I move too far to the sides (like peaking around the door to look left and right).
ITJunky Jun 20, 2016 @ 12:55pm
Thanks.
Quasdar Jun 13, 2016 @ 10:10pm
Perfect. And this sound from TNG is a good match https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD4fpFfFT78
spazzium Jun 12, 2016 @ 3:54pm
The arch texture needs cleaned up. Looks like a highly dithered low resolution texture.
Panchomalo24 Jun 10, 2016 @ 2:57pm
Good grief, this enviroment only has 3-stars? What does kideternal, Kevin, and Critter have to do (within the limits of creating SteamVR envs) to make people happy?! :steamfacepalm:

Nice work
EM BReOILED Jun 6, 2016 @ 3:07pm
Computer Load simulation: Seven of Nine on the whipp-creamplanet in the delta quadrant, chapter 69. Prepare to be asimulated :)
EM BReOILED Jun 6, 2016 @ 3:04pm
and the computer on the wall next too the door is to load simulations or contact the ships computer, open the door or too install safety protocols, (you dont want to bitten in the knee by a klingon:steammocking:)
Zenfar Jun 5, 2016 @ 7:26pm
Excellent and looks great from inside a Vive!!
CoolMan Jun 5, 2016 @ 11:02am
Er, might be worth actually describing what this is?
Jedihermit Jun 3, 2016 @ 10:40am
how do i use this?

The normals look flipped for me. Might be because I'm using DK2?

Great job all!
Dreto May 31, 2016 @ 12:46pm
Wow... leave it to the industry to ruin an amazing thing. Reminds me of the old south park episode "We're gonna sue you!"
kideternal  [author] May 31, 2016 @ 3:59am
@madnesssoft There's this, but probably won't be done for a couple of years (if he doesn't get a cease-and-desist!): http://www.enterprise3dproject.com/
Dreto May 30, 2016 @ 9:05pm
You know, at this point, I would utterly love someone to craft out the enterprise and let us walk around it...
orgy revolution May 30, 2016 @ 12:34am
thanks for the update :)
kideternal  [author] May 29, 2016 @ 5:18pm
I updated it with better scale, accurate height, and readable LCARS panel.

Don't forget to rate it!
Mixologist May 28, 2016 @ 2:32pm
I giggle like a little girl everytime I see this environmet. Well done :csgostar:
