I will push an update to this mod with the script updated in just a few minutes.
That script mod and this one are both the same. :)
I test this mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1354870812&searchtext=thruster+upgrade and all my thruster retrieve the colors set with your mod. Similar script ?
But in this case the override thrust slide doesnt disappear.
I know lasts update broke many things.
Some feedback about this issue ?

I know this was an old question but it appears to still be happening in game. I found an answer on reddit.

I don't remember what specs the azimuth thrusters have, but if memory serves they were made pre-planet and thus have pre-planetary dampening values (x5 or even x10 instead of now-standard x1). This means, when you use manual thrust, you use x1 of their power, and when you use dampeners (auto-hovering in natural gravity is inertia dampening, too) they use their own thrust value (which is thruster's base thrust multiplied by dampening value). This means, due to cheaty dampener value there's enough dampening power to easily hover but not enough normal thrust power to even keep you afloat.
To check this guess, try going to terminal and setting all Up thrusters (which are keeping you afloat) to maximum override. Be ready to disable override quickly, though, if your ship will start to sink on override.
I have the same exact issue. Regardless of what I do, "Up = Down".
Graphics are correct. The Engines fire like they should... but I go down.

=>Finally Fixed the Sloped Thruster having a pink texture on it.
=>I am still working on fixing the other remaining thruster showing pink on it, bare with me. :)

I'm not sure if both of these are bugs or intentional choices, but it would be awesome if the thrusters were just a bit more powerful without involving mods to make them more efficient. I already have the 10x mods to make thrusters planet capable :s
The purple texture on the sloped 1x1 thrusters has returned for me as well
