I have Text HUD API installed into my server, but cannot get any of the mods to work including this one. Is this MOD still supported with current game patch?

This sounds like it should be marked as old cause most of these features are built into the game.

I know keen has their own GPS but this seems to be the only mod that ever showed your current GPS on the hud. Is that still possible? I'd love it if I could get a GPS readout in with the other stats on the lower left.

This came out before Keen put their waypoint / GPS system in game. After they did that I sort of stopped supporting it, as competing against an vanilla feature is kind of useless. Just use the ingame GPS and request Keen add grouping.

Logged in today. All my Waypoints are gone. Did /wp list "0 Waypoints" and i had 6 Points with important locations and Positions from ships out of Range

I like this mod because of the coordinates display at the top of the screen. (makes navigation easier)

Yes, this mod came out before GPS was ever added by Keen, which basically allowed GPS without using the GPS system.

It was kind of a workaround, and basically used dummy stations with no physics to display a hud icon. It worked pretty well before Keen introduced their GPS. I've left this up for legacy reasons, and some people still like using it as it has grouping.

A faction member added a handful of wp's to the faction list. is there anyway to remove those wps.

yes i realize that, but you cant put it into a group by doing it that way. For instance, I'm out prospecting and i want to mark all ores and put them in ore specific groups, right now it takes a long time to do that.

If you do a /wp add "Name" it will use your current location.

I still use this mod and completely avoid the vanilla system, it is WAY easier to toggle groups of waypoints, plus the colors is awesome. It seems to me that Keen is actually actively avoiding implementing mods' features, within reason. For instance recently they added basically every armor block that hadn't been modded in. I REALLY like that dynamic and I hope they give you a lil credit when they must at some point implement your full features.

Please if you add more to this mod, consider being able to toggle on/off the hud at the top and secondly moving the coordinate variable to the end of the command and allowing any input, without coordinates, to automatically default to your position.

This I feel would be perfect then.

This mod has groups, toggles and coordinates displayed for you. It's not obsolete, but a lot less useful than it was. If you want to be able to toggle just waypoints off your hud, you can do that in this mod.

Hey Tyrsis is there a way you could convert this mod into a 100% client side mod that doesent require server support frankly i am sick and tired of keens crapy implementation and some servers are dropping this

Hi Tyrsis Quick question I have dedicated server and try set up server waypoints so every player can see place worth to go , or set world on sectors ... issue is when I type in waypoints nobody can see them ... I can make my own 1 and I can see them but when its coming to server waypoints you cant , can you tell me how to setup server waypoints please?? thanks for that ... Mod is really good

oh a bit of a feature request.

it seems as though the waypoint add function is missing a overloaded constructor for the name and text fields using current location.

if you want to use both name and text you need to enter all the data manually

Even if keen adds these features the fact that they bound it to broadcasting and have a time out that makes them vanish over time renders the keen implementation a stupid overly complex and a down right turd compared to your useful intuitive and easy to use chat system

keep this around forever as an alternative to keens bad software design.

speed, it would be "/wp list" then enter. Find the name listed in there and then use that exact name in the "/wp remove <text>" command

can someone explain how to remove a waypoint? i inserted the name of the waypoint . it wa called curious. i entered it [ /wp add mywaypoint neutral curious x y z]. but now i type [ /wp remove curious] am I typing it wrong??

Once you figure it out it's brilliant. Love this mod. No longer am I just estimating what direction I'm headed or where the action is.

Every time I hop into a server my go to list of commands are:

/wp add The_Center 0 Neutral 0 0 0
/wp add X+ X+ Neutral 900000 0 0
/wp add X- X- Neutral -900000 0 0
/wp add Y+ Y+ Neutral 0 900000 0
/wp add Y- Y- Neutral 0 -900000 0
/wp add Z+ Z+ Neutral 0 0 900000
/wp add Z- Z- Neutral 0 0 -900000

This add seven points with which to easily navigate. One at the very center of the Universe. And 6 at far out points. Why 900,000 and not 1,000,000? Because I don't want the two extra characters for 1 million showing up on HUD. That is, the One (1) and the comma (,) I'd rather have:

Y+
935,073

show up on HUD than:

Y+
1,035,073

Y+ 900,000 is 2 hours and 24 minutes away from Center at 104.4. So plenty far for navigation.

Plus I can mark, and find, my "super secret base" without having a beacon or antenna.

@Chez: I finally figured how how to get it to work on a dedicated server, and it's sadly simple. When starting the server, under the section called "Mods" (this is directly under "Admins") they are NOT talking about "Moderators". Just put the number for the "mod" in that section (in this case: 363037395) and it will add it to your server. I've got a half dozen mods running perfectly now. Not sure what the equivalent is in the single-player game, but mostly because I haven't tried it.

@engineered_kill: you can make navigational waypoints for yourself, two for each axis which would be six in total.
