Oh man with some white paint it could be the admirals jacket from one piece
Games  [author] May 26 @ 4:34pm
My reference was this was a trenchcoat worn over the shoulders, I just searched "coat worn over shoulders" But I believe the coat style is termed as "Bold Shoulder" or "Coat Slinging"
MolluskRateReducer.2007 May 26 @ 11:45am
Joking aside, What is this kind of coat style? I keep trying to look it up, typing "trenchcoat cape" to no avail. What is it?
xylemblu May 22 @ 2:14pm

I want it badly even tho I don't even play spy.
mikta May 9 @ 7:45am
@NovaFrederick I think you're from the phone like me. Select the last image and wait for a minute. I'll switch to gif. Looks gigantic and unlike anything if view from the back.
mikta May 9 @ 7:41am
Have you considered making it hand on only one should while secured by a chain. It could be made way smaller this way.
slenderman May 9 @ 6:30am

to reply to your comment class recognition is important because its lets you know at a very quick glance; what class your fighting/what team hes on. If you remember that one glitch that made that spy cosmetic red at all times, people could fool players by standing in front of them and just could shoot people without even being expected. you did fine on color recognition i just think the saturated color doesn't fit spy scheme and i just personally don't like it. what gets me though is if you see the spy from behind it takes far longer to recognize that IS the spy due to how bulky it is. its a fine concept that i genuinely like. but i don't want a flawed cosmetic. Im not a modeler for tf2 but i do 3d model, I personally don't know any records besides making it thinner but I want something like this realized because this IS cool.
JAS-C May 9 @ 1:03am
@SynciNG dude, it is literally the thin line across the coat is paintable, what do you want? It can be extra layer of customization for someone, like why not?
NovaFrederick May 9 @ 12:23am
More than anything right now I wished there was a way to 'preview' this ingame to get a good grasp on how it would look ingame, regarding the whole silhouette debate.
Myahster May 8 @ 10:25pm
While it certainly messes with Spy's silhouette, it is a nice cosmetic.
T60MKVI May 8 @ 9:35pm
NNNNNNNNNNICE
Makironii May 8 @ 5:15pm
the color is fine, it's a lighter shade of the Balaclavas Are Forever paint and nobody complains about that paint so i don't see what the issue is :aushrug:
Woshee May 8 @ 5:01pm
This is like the bullet vest for medic, make yourself a walking "hit me" target LOL
SynciNG May 8 @ 4:11pm
Remove the style and paint region and you got yourself an acceptable filler miscellaneous.
mikta May 8 @ 3:43pm
Quoting myself "...for one that should have never been added in the first place...". So, I don't think Smoking Jacket was a good addition either. Muted team colors are part of Spy's visual identity (another argument for maintaining purity) originally created by the developers and all cosmetics were made accordingly with it. So, no wonder something that sticks out like a sore thumb can't be matched with anything else in the wardrobe.

I do agree it's not **immediate** problem. As of know, players do know about exceptions like Smoking Jacket and its color because there are only few of such exceptions but, in the long term exceptions allowed to pile up would cease being mere exceptions.

True about legs (wearing turn-coat btw) but, arms silhouette being obscured from the back makes me concerned now. As I said here, my main problem is color of the second style.
Games  [author] May 8 @ 3:21pm
I mean, smoking jacket uses a similiar red and I've never seen a soul complain about its colors (aside from lamenting that it doesn't fit anything, I'm talking specifically about readability)

Also, I don't think it's optimistic at all considering a spy already plays so drastically different from every class that you can immediately discern who it is even if it's a little muddied (important to note his stick legs, which are a big part of readability imo, are kept unchanged)
mikta May 8 @ 3:13pm
Using uncharacteristic tone of red (on a very large cosmetic at that) is not "some" readability. Also, your 90% assumption is extra optimistic as if Spy can't be a threat that one must be able to acknowledge quickly.
Games  [author] May 8 @ 3:03pm
i still don't understand why spy's class recognition is even a problem, the man is invisible or disguised or Dead 90% of the gameplay you see him in, and the times you see him it's really always very obvious what class he is. Spy is kind of a unique case in that he can entirely afford to compromise *some* readability for a better more appealing look
mikta May 8 @ 2:58pm
Not a single character has raspberry red in its color scheme. Moreso Spy who on purpose uses washed colors for better class recognition. Niki Minaj skin would have been pretty unique as well.
Makironii May 8 @ 2:39pm
@mikta why should it never have been added? it's a really unique cosmetic that has a lot of potential, and it changes nothing of the silhouette which doesn't matter anyways
slenderman May 8 @ 2:02pm
Far too big in the back and the saturated second style makes this a no go. If you fixed those two things I think this would be a fun spy cosmetic.
mikta May 8 @ 11:35am
@Makironii fitting cosmetic for one that should have never been added in the first place you say?
CYBERJUSTICE May 8 @ 11:02am
It looks too big on spy and might make it hard to tell who he is from behind. You rely on a characters silhouettes to figure out what class they are.
Makironii May 8 @ 6:19am
this cosmetic and especially the 2nd style to go with the Smoking Jacket is swag as hell, opens up a lot of loadout possibilities
ImAware May 8 @ 1:15am
Deadlock wraith lookin ass
h™ May 7 @ 11:49pm
Spy's arms and legs are already so thin that I feel like the rest of his body appearing larger in silhouette form become more of a non-issue.
PeopleLikeStuff May 7 @ 10:32pm
Don't get me wrong, it *looks* cool, but it completely changes his silhouette
