On a side note, it acts different from real piston in the sense that it does not create a subgrid when you attach items to it, which allowed me to build a nice infinite drill

NOT BROKEN AT ALL.
Proof? Recently reinstalled the game and
works as 2025, using it right now in a blueprint I just posted.

Just search blueprints from my account

Doesn't appear in the menu of buildables. Mod broken.

@ace, did you think a mod that was last updated in 2017 for dx11 would work my guy???
Ace Nov 30, 2024 @ 11:54am
Broken mod.

Any updates on this mod Block?
I am now getting a critical load error via debug draw in game after the most recent update to Space Engineers. I have the same issue with many of the older mods. Has Keen started stifling creativity in the community?

It looks great and was working pretty good with the large grid, however the small grid version has issues, when placed you cannot manually weld or grind. I was able to use the nanobot mod to the nanobots to weld it for me. I thought that would work ok, but... it also has some random explosions... also even after welding is complete it is like a ghost as you can walk thru it, and cannot grind or repair it manually. the Bots have to do it all. I took and ground down the armor it was attached to and when it fell off... it fell thru the world... I really wish the small grid worked. the large grid is awesome, and I love the graphics.
Also, if you ever get the small grid to work, it would be nice to have a 3x3 small grid... just a request.

The big grid version works
Tyoi Apr 25, 2024 @ 4:49pm
Broken, can not be welded. When placed on a ship/block it is broken. Can be welded if placed alone in open air.
Phooenix Apr 12, 2024 @ 10:59pm
The piston for small grids can't be built. Welder can't target it.

Hello Eikester! I'm asking permission if we could upload this to mod.io. Thanks! (I'm the one that sent you a friend request to talk about it btw)
riddER Feb 4, 2024 @ 4:40am
Hello :)
Attached the piston on a small-grid conveyor junction on the small port.
I am able to weld the head, but not the body of the piston.
The piston cannot be targeted by grinder either, but does fall to the ground if I remove the junction.

The piston works when placed elsewhere.
Just thought you'd like to know :)

Not sure what Emu is on about however this mod STILL WORKS for me. I really enjoy mods by Eikester and I hope he hasn't lost interest.

last update was back in 2017 its past dead
Mabs Aug 22, 2020 @ 2:37pm
I think this is broken. I can't weld it after placing in survival mode.
8bit shadow Nov 6, 2019 @ 11:15pm
looks like for some reason the pistons 'impulse axis' (its force) is set to 0 when placed, increasing it then right clicking it seems to set it back to 100 - fixing it.

not working critic eror

Добрый день. На малых блоках не получается построить поршень.Строится голова а сам корпус построить не получается,он даже не выделяется в цель. Обновите пожалуйста мод.Заранее спасибо.
NeoNexus DeMortis Sep 20, 2019 @ 3:25pm
Love this mod! However, it doesn't count against normal piston block limits, so, how do we limit them?
MythN7 Sep 12, 2019 @ 11:01am
the small grid pistons piston head is the only thing targetable.
You can target the conveyor port on the body part, but ive tried many angles and what not, and you cant cant hit it with welder or grinder.

The way I was able to get them made is the build and repair mod.

But when I had to take then down. I had to target the block supporting it, and after dong that, and taking off the piston head, the rest of the lock just falls threw everything like it has no collision.

Hi, I envy you for your modding skills.

Can you create a piston for our server (and for everyone else who is interested), that is 350 meters long when extended and maybe 15 to 20 meters long when reduced?
Lord Bhael Apr 14, 2019 @ 2:34pm
Yes, the hitbox is wonky. I'm not 100% sure you can classify this as "dead," since @Eikester is still active, or at least I think is still active. I would love to see mod fixed and expanded to include pistons of different length.
seronis Feb 19, 2019 @ 8:53pm
Mod works in both current version v1.188.105 and the current ongoing survival prerelease test v1.189.033. Only issue as of this point is its hitbox for the mouse to select it is 'wonky' but targetable if you search around and try a few angles.
Comedy Feb 13, 2019 @ 6:57pm
Unsure. Is this mod dead?
Chidaruma Feb 10, 2019 @ 11:39am
Good Job! Finaly I can build big slide doors without risk of broken piston.
Arvard Dec 16, 2018 @ 9:45am
This is just don't work
Molten Carnage Nov 10, 2018 @ 9:16am
I think something is wrong with the hit box of the Piston head. When it's head extends next to a correctly placed blastdoor block with the tapered side closest to the piston head, it goes crazy. Doesn't happen with the vanilla and the piston mod with the varying sizes. Tested with no other mods loaded in single player
Eikester  [author] Nov 10, 2018 @ 3:35am
@Morpheus whats wrong that needs fixing?
Molten Carnage Nov 8, 2018 @ 8:00pm
Another beautiful piece of work forever lost due to lack of interest. And I was willing to pay to have this fixed......disappointed :steamsad:
Rantalunta Oct 20, 2018 @ 1:05am
I found one ugly(partly invisible) working long(100m) piston:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1531848699
Could this help to fix that mod here?
Mark F. Smith Oct 16, 2018 @ 8:24am
Do these pistons have stronger heads?
[RS] eagle40 Oct 6, 2018 @ 2:00am
tryed to build 1 could only weld the top part
Molten Carnage Aug 12, 2018 @ 10:03am
Using modded pistons with alpha model and texture to get the right length just to make the boarding platform on my epic starter ship work ........... It's sooo ugly (*SOB) :steamsad:
Molten Carnage Aug 10, 2018 @ 8:09pm
On a more serious note, I got this Epic Spawn Ship that will make you cry tears of adoration just sitting in my Blueprint Planner world, unfinished because Keen's pistons just don't measure up in function and esthetics. Here's a sneek peek https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1474168818 I need the piston for a very visual boarding lift. Can we talk and see if we can make this happen? Big fan, much respect.
Molten Carnage Aug 10, 2018 @ 7:51pm
Oh Great Eikester, at the risk of angering the Mighty Klang, we offer our thanks and praise for the generous and glorious work you have done. We, moding illiterates, humbly beg of you for an update that our creations not only function again, but radiate the beauty of the Great Eikester's Better Pistons.

Umm, too much? lol
Molten Carnage Aug 10, 2018 @ 7:35pm
Mod is partially broken thanks to Keen. Issue with collision boxes. Pistons go crazy when pushing a block though a hole made with tapered Blast door blocks. Vanilla pistons have no issue with this test but vanilla pistons are too short and ugly.
yugomataio Aug 4, 2018 @ 6:21am
whats the word on the its in my mod list waiting to be used
Stinky Brat Topper Mar 20, 2018 @ 1:38pm
Does this still work?
Fascist Pig Bank Feb 26, 2018 @ 6:39am
Can you make them in different sizes please Eikester?
Dragon Crisis Core Feb 11, 2018 @ 8:31pm
For those having issues with pistons make sure impulse is above 0
Jonieq Dec 15, 2017 @ 4:21pm
Do not work now
咸鱼提督阿巴瑟 Dec 2, 2017 @ 6:55pm
need 1*1*5 1*1*10 3*3*5 3*3*10 Piston
StarScream Nov 23, 2017 @ 4:16am
good working piston
Lynnuxx Nov 20, 2017 @ 1:17pm
Possibly the game is a bit bugged since the last two hotfixes. Wheels are not working as well anymore, too.
Marcus Aquila Nov 19, 2017 @ 11:23am
Okay, they are working again, though not as smoothly as before it seems. Retracting is a bit jerky.
Marcus Aquila Nov 19, 2017 @ 8:43am
Will do.
Eikester  [author] Nov 19, 2017 @ 7:34am
try them again pls
Marcus Aquila Nov 19, 2017 @ 7:06am
Not in my world. :(
