everything looks nice but tbh i like the Kukri as is. and also I dont like red fire axes irl but for TF2 I like it bc it loos more uniform with teams. very good changes.

I feel like the Syringe Gun is the only thing here that really should be implimented. As MeatwadMeatwad said, most of this is just change for the sake of change.

There's virtually no performance loss with these changes. All the textures are properly compressed and the same size as the default ones. And the material changes barely matter in terms of performance, if at all.

I want to say that these guns were actually available from 2007 to July 2015, but Valve made a mess with the gun mettle update. and they removed it from the game just to make room for the skins... now we want it back! I support this 100%. Senior players know this detail well since 2007. If you watch Crowbcat 2007 Vs 2017 Team Fortress 2 Video. You will understand it Details. before & after gun mettle update of Death of optimization 2007-2015... Bring back this legendary optimization Right now. ! Voted it ! :steamthumbsup:

Mine were inspired by the pre-gun mettle ones yes, and they natively work with war paints and stuff like botkillers

I'd love if the most weapons were redone pre-Gun Mettle update, based on those textures back then. The post-Gun Mettle textures are not very good, and I personally don't like the Flamethrower handle, not only does it look off, but it's not the same color as the Backburner head model.

I don't know if you adjusted these textures based on those older textures, but I think it would be better as the current ones in-game. A lot of weapons lost a lot of details due to the implementation of the Decorated / War Paint system.

Yes, a couple things would be require changing for the War Paints to work, but, I think there might be a good balance where colors don't look so off, and details don't disappear.

It seems this pack is more-in-line with the pre-Gun Mettle stuff, but I'm wondering if the Flamethrower handle matches the Backburner again.

The renders were taken with HLMV++. As I've mentioned before, I'm currently making comparison videos taken in-game. I have one for the cubemaps on weapons like the bottle and syringe gun ready, but the main comparison still needs to be done. On a side note, I'm also working on improving the syringe gun glass a little bit more and changing the formatting of the vtfs to dxt5 since I forgot to do that.

Were those renders took in HLMV? Or was it in-game or SFM? The (currently in-game) Syringe Gun in specific has a problem in some graphic cards where the glass-detail isn't properly rendered, it appears darker.

The new detail actually reminded me of this HLMV problem, as it looked quite similar. This problem doesn't happen on HLMV++, and it's the same problem as the eyes of the mercenaries appearing as grey.

It's not realistic though, and as I said, the current default textures and materials fit the artstyle less.

@Delirium1370 a lot of the stock weapons WERE this detailed when the game shipped out. When they converted the models from v_models/w_models to c_models, they changed all of the weapon materials to be super simplistic in order to speed up the process of porting said weapons to the new model type. If anything, my version fits the Artstyle MORE than the current default weapons do.

@Dekirium1370 I think you may misunderstand the TF2 Artstyle. There is nothing that prohibits the materials used, like metal, to look like real life metal (broad, strong specularity). All the scratches and brushstrokes actually add to the TF2 style, as you can see on plentiful weapons, hats and props.

TF2 characters' hands being huge doesn't change the ability of metal to look less like plastic.

TF2 isn't a realistic game, making items look more realistic will just mean they'll stick out more. Look at how big the mercs' hands are, they can't make something this detailed.

glad you clarified. i still think that level of texture modification is okay. An improved alpha channel doesn't hurt, and specifically for improving the scope on the sniper, the normalmap change seems justified too.

Anton there is texture changes too, mainly just slightly editing the alpha textures of the stock weapons, adding a normal map to the sniper rifle so it can have the cubemapped scope instead of the usual model change.
