You're doing everything wrong, the skin works correctly, watch the video tutorial and the list of mods in the description carefully.

Yes, it's a quick and simple skin, I could do it for the SCS trailers

I can confirm the skin still works in 1.5 with the latest trailer revision (August 21). The truck has to be a Highline S and the body a 4.4m box.
Seriously cool skin!
Any chance the trailer skin on a standard trailer???

Seems to not work anymore on the actual truck. I've re-followed the steps a couple of times now, redownloaded the mod, tried it on a fresh profile with only the mods as requested and only the box shows up as how it should. The truck stays black. Just FYO :)
