does these settings go along with modded weapons on a server? or do they only apply to vanilla? and using modded weapons with this ammo does that affect the bullets still ?

The ammo should work in vanilla weapons; most likely the latest patch broke it. Will fix it soon, dealing with serious family shit at the moment.

The fictional country of Chernarus is a post-Soviet country as we know it from Arma 2 LOR. Standard external brick walls according to soviet standards are MINIMUM one brick thick. BUT! Brick in LENGTH, ALONG, not across. This means a wall at least 250 millimeters thick. Plus, according to the old standards, the bricks were filled, without gaps. Even if you do not take into account soviet standards, where did you see the outer walls of a brick building with a thickness of one brick across?

This is possibly the most important part of what @RebelSchutze said and I want to double down on it; our in-game values were set, in part, according to measured penetration and terminal performance with respect to a test case, but if vanilla doesn't have all of their material values set to realistic values (they don't), there will be some unavoidable discrepancies. That said, I'd still say we have the most realistic ballistics in DayZ.

@Pushitik This game also is a light ballistic simulator, not Call of Duty. Bullets do slow down, lose damage, deviate course, and ricochet depending on the material type, material thickness, and angle of impact. If you are familiar with this game or have playtested this mod you would know that. Obviously just because you can penetrate a brick wall with a certain cartridge doesn't mean it's smart to stand off at a long distance and shoot at it because of those terminal effects. Reducing a target's cover efficiency means being as close to him and positioning yourself as perpendicular to his cover as possible.

What we did was built a ballistic calculator that converts real life data to in game data and made a mod. There maybe some slight discrepancies in material penetration because we cannot/do not modify cover and material values from vanilla, so the relative 'hardness' between those objects are subject to the developer's interpretation.

@Pushitik that depends on what kind of cartridge and bullet you are using. 7.62x51 M80 ball which is a lead core FMJ has more than enough capability to smash brick at close range. M855 can as well with a couple of shots. A steel core .3006 M2AP (modelled in our private expanded version) can penetrate a 14" live tree and a tungsten core 7.62x51 has a much higher capability than even that.

Dude, have you tried shooting a brick wall in real life? Even 308 win or 7.62x51 does not penetrate it. And even if they penetrate some obstacles, they often change directions. Your overrides with penetration are very far from realism.

Hey so I have been trying to use this on my private 1.21 server and just a heads up, somehow this mod broke my ability to equip most vests and helmets in the game. With this mod loaded, can only equip the reflective vest and the new medieval chest plate. Could not equip plate carriers, stab, press, or hunting vests etc. Same goes for most hats and helmets, the baseball caps and new medieval helm were the only ones I could get working.

I figured I'd let you know before 1.21 goes live because this mod is fun and I've been missing it already!

@Kreslavskiy We modify some of the same things that sGunplay does, like sway, so there may be some weird mixing of numbers but nothing *should* break. Try it and find out for yourself.

i will test. yeah i havent checked legacy in full details yet. it uses the old gun mechanincs from 0.62, wich we all love hehe. as you guys said, dayz was buildt upon a simulator so that gunplay is needed back

LegacyGunplay afaik doesn't actually modify the recoil in the weapon configs, pretty sure it uses a scripted approach, so they should be compatible but I suggest you test them together before running it on your server.

Just reloaded i again ad sill getting ----[Error] Mod Error: the workshop id is 0, this normally means the author of mod has not updated the mod. Manually set the publishedid in D:\TCAFiles\Users\marka6\8941547\@Reb's Ballistics - Vanilla\meta.cpp to the workshop id or ask the author to update the mod.

@tongo On further testing, it appears that the deflection value (~48) was causing issues, bouncing off at angles it shouldn't have been, so we've lowered that and it should make it more consistent, will take effect on next update.

@tongo This game is built on the framework of a military simulator, not a COD copycat. Like in real life there is a minimum arming distance. When the round sits on the ground it plays the hit sound effect for 6 seconds until the projectile despawns.

tested the mod on my vanilla server, bullet ballistics and penetration for MP5, AK47 and FAL seems to work fine, had some problem with M79 40mm grenades, I've launched them into police station windows at Berezino, in several cases grenade entered the ricochet loop inside the room, it bounced for 3-4 seconds in total then no blast happened, besides that great mod!

@Cala that would require donator support, building and supporting mods for life takes alot of time and time away from real work.

We will eventually release a patch for *some* snafu weapons since they actually have some unique ballistic capabilities (ie., 7.62x25 ppsh, .3006 BAR, or 5.7x28mm p90) but I am not interested in copy and pasting the same values for 100x different AR and AK models that will all perform the same.

@Nokilev creating support systems and dependencies on a game that behaves like a beta and still is being constantly updated + other mods is just not something we can do without some serious donator support. That is high skill, time consuming work.
