Hey guys, the continued mod has been updated to use SYR Processor Framework :)
Mlie May 17, 2024 @ 5:19am
Since this mod has been reported working in 1.5 I added it to the No Version Warning-mod

If you don't want the error to pop (even if it does nothing), i uploaded a 1.5 "fix" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3234444700

For those waiting, works fine in 1.5. Just ignore the error.

1.5 update waiting room...
kongkim Mar 29, 2024 @ 6:37am
Will you update it to 1.5 :)?
Sollis Gratis Feb 24, 2024 @ 9:51pm
Simple mod, but exactly what I was looking for. No more, no less. Big thanks.
Simbach Vazo Feb 4, 2024 @ 7:10pm
This is, word for word, exactly what I was looking for. Nice work and thank you for this.
Arswind Nov 11, 2023 @ 12:26am
No klin?
Panda Oct 20, 2023 @ 3:45pm
Alternative way for brick backing would be nice, Like brick kiln, which must be immune to rain, what will require wood as fuel and, as result, more work but less time for same result.
Paprikahörnchen Aug 3, 2023 @ 3:48am
Hey, love the mod! Thank you for it :)

I've got an idea. Maybe make it possible to place it under roofs but it needs a sunlamp! Or a specific tempature. (Not sure how adobe really works in reallife, lol)
ComradeSocko Jun 29, 2023 @ 10:17am
Any chance a VFE- Architect patch could be made? Specifically for bridges and floors.
Bluewolf Jun 10, 2023 @ 3:29pm
Any way to that the alert message when a batch of bricks are done baking can be removed? it gets annoying when you have multiple baking frames
Nebula May 30, 2023 @ 10:37am
Could you add an option to the mod where its still forced to be outside but allow a roof over to block the rain? my biome rains like every 4/5 days :c
Regina George Apr 10, 2023 @ 12:02am
I really like the idea of making a whole base out of adobe, especially in areas where there's little stone but lots of food/ growing area, however, it's hard to actually MAKE adobe bricks when you only get 15 bricks from 50 hay, every two days, and you have to make sure it doesn't rain in those days at all.
Regina George Apr 10, 2023 @ 12:02am
I love this mod, however, I have some issues with it.

Firstly, it only produces 15 blocks for 50 hay. I feel like it should at least produce 25 (like chunks do when you cut them into stone blocks), or more. Secondly, this process takes so long -- two days, again, for only 15 blocks. I feel like one day for 25 blocks, or two days for 50 blocks would be more worthwhile. Thirdly, I wish there was a way to produce it under roofs -- I think it specifically needs to be produced outside and not under a roof, however, half the time when I'm waiting for the bricks to dry, it ends up raining, and there's nothing I can do to save the bricks from the rain. I get that they need to be hot/ in the sun for the bricks to dry, but maybe there could be something 'incoporated' into the baking frame which makes it have a roof/ peice of cloth above the frame so you can protect it from the cold?

ill attack adobe with plastic explosives, coward.
cuirithir Mar 16, 2023 @ 8:58am
>As well, it is somewhat unsightly and ill-suited for art and decorations. It is at its best when simply used for walls, floors, shelves, etc.

I've worked with adobe in RL, and it can be quite beautiful - especially if the walls are given texture or pattern. Once you whitewash it to protect against elements, you can paint it any colour you desire.

I know it's just a game, but adobe can be very beautiful and incredibly durable like concrete, unless you attack it with a high-powered firehose :D :D

@Mr.Lemming

So i uploaded my small patch mod that let you build dry racks under the roof and removed the "not working under roof" message.

kongkim Mar 6, 2023 @ 12:00am
@Mr.Lemming Thx, i fixed it by making a small mod that let me build it under the roof and removed the message :)
Mr.Lemming Mar 5, 2023 @ 11:36pm
Now, how do I remove the warning message... ?
Mr.Lemming Mar 5, 2023 @ 11:36pm
@kongkim just build roof over it after you've built it. They still work but you get a message saying "Building unusable due to roof" but they still work and stop getting ruined by rain.
JomoKiN  [author] Mar 4, 2023 @ 5:06pm
@Black★Rock Shooter At this point that is very likely. I'm not playing Rimworld atm, but once I come back I'm looking to redo this mod for SYR, along with adding additional features.
Black★Rock Shooter Mar 4, 2023 @ 10:53am
will the update to SYR be a separate mod?
Tenchi Mar 3, 2023 @ 8:58pm
"This mix mix then needs"
kongkim Feb 20, 2023 @ 5:57am
Really like the mod, but what can be done if it start rain?
Vartarhoz Jan 30, 2023 @ 9:13am
Yea primitive workbenches mod adds oven version of this mod. You cook bricks.
Hykal Jan 5, 2023 @ 4:37am
Gonna also throw my 2 cents in with the whole raining thing. For one, that much hay for that few bricks isn't worth it to not just spec into stonecutting. And needing to roof and unroof all the time is a bit PITA with how random weather can be. If we had an oven or something similar, that'd be more worth it.
JoeOwnage Dec 22, 2022 @ 3:28am
Patch for medieval overhaul turning all steel recipe requirements to iron would be pretty high tier
Garolf Dec 21, 2022 @ 3:44am
Thanks for your mod!! Its really nice.

But i think you could workaround the "raining problematic" with progress.
With enough bricks you could build an oven (mats:15 * X bricks).
Oven + 5Wood(per use) + 1Mix(per use) = faster (like 1.5 days) and indoor.
lol Dec 14, 2022 @ 3:51am
Been waiting on the sir update too
Beastcruel Dec 11, 2022 @ 11:06am
@Abraxo agreed! a little wonky because you cant build new adobe layup tables under the skylights tho, gotta build them outside then transport them in i think
Abraxo™ Dec 11, 2022 @ 3:41am
dubs skylight is a nice feature when ya combine it with adobe ^^
Nevloz Dec 11, 2022 @ 12:16am
hmmm 50 hay + 3 days wait = 15 bricks? That seems super inefficient
Annabellee Dec 10, 2022 @ 11:00pm
Like the mod and can’t wait for the syr framework update.
Ribera Dec 9, 2022 @ 1:16am
You could make frame stuffed also for Metal type, not only wood
Rince Dec 8, 2022 @ 11:21pm
building not usable due to roof
but its usable
wierd
vardicdestroyer Dec 8, 2022 @ 6:21pm
Interesting, you might want to consider how that update would play with mods like Dubs Skylights, which I use. You're going to have people [like me] building a roof over your frames, then sticking skylights in the roof so the sun still shines on the frames, but they are protected when it rains. Don't know if that's something your mod will need to take into account or not, I'm not a modder.
JomoKiN  [author] Dec 8, 2022 @ 6:03pm
@vardicdestroyer That's simply a byproduct of VEF's inability to make sunlight a requirement. In order to emulate it, I made it so frames can't be placed under roofs, but they still technically work if you built the roof over the frame after the frame is built.

Once I push the update to switch over to SYR's framework, frames will be able to be freely built under roofs, but the lack of sunlight will hinder the progress greatly. It also means rain won't ruin your bricks, and simply pause them instead.
vardicdestroyer Dec 8, 2022 @ 5:32pm
So I've discovered putting the adobe baking frames under a roof generates a building unusable due to roof warning, but my pawns continue to fill and remove bricks from them even with a roof over them. Either the roof warning is a false flag, or some thing is not coded right and the roof is not stopping the function of the frames. Since I'm playing on a really rainy map, I need the roof over the frames or I lose a lot of bricks.

@kongkim, in my game 50 hay makes 1 adobe mix, which makes 15 bricks after baking. How in the world are you getting 75 bricks out of 25 hay? Share the secret?
kongkim Dec 8, 2022 @ 10:37am
Looks really good, but turning 25 hay into 75 bricks seems a bit wird and out of balance?
MistressTessie Dec 6, 2022 @ 8:31pm
New here, just found the mid. reading the last 2 comments.
Maybe make the cost, materials, time waiting? etc. make options on which ever people want these. :D
Abraxo™ Dec 6, 2022 @ 9:48am
yea nice mod, fits into my medieval world but you should increase the costs. prop add clay that you can get "mine" near rivers or just add a workspot that needs access to water like watermill. so fixcosts like 30 hay and 50 clay = 75 bricks. cuz when you use the expanded mod collection you get tons on hay and food with barley etc.
no fun Dec 6, 2022 @ 6:13am
You're gonna get a lot of scope-creep requests to make this more and more OP, but I'll say it's in a really balanced place right now. I'd probably even up the hay requirement a bit, as it's pretty cheap to produce a truckload of bricks currently. Otherwise, great mod! :Dumpy:
Beastcruel Dec 5, 2022 @ 7:47pm
you've apparently scratched a big itch in the rw community hahahaha
The Blind One Dec 5, 2022 @ 5:32pm
@jomoKiN

Interesting developments.

I'll stay subbed to this mod to see how it develops further :steamhappy:
