the game itself can just fail on its own due to race conditions and bad coding in the updating code.

My W11 is running inside a domain and GPOs that does not allow either onedrive or telemetry or the use of microsoft account and still got the restart loop. Looks more like a workshop issue to me (like sanitazing mods UID)

but Windows11 comes with OneDrive pre-enabled, and that garbage software also breaks mod installation externally, so its a strong contender for "worst update bug cause"

usually this issue comes from the very buggy custom mod installation code Klei wrote

Forcing mod update worked, not update mod version but looks like it updated something anyway. There is something fishy with the steam workshop.

update your mod, thats fixed in the last version.

Looks like the duplicity style editor part of the mod is making the game crash when trying to add traits complaining with hair_033 missing stuff when editing an existing duplicant with everything installed including the new cosmetic pack.

not related to the mod, issue is in your system, likely onedrive related.

okay thank you, but amazing mod apart from this problem btw. u did a really good job! im kinda new to the game and im already enjoying it :)

then you have someone else preventing it.
skip the "restart pls" message with escape, then restart your game manually.
alternatively try unsubscribing + resubscribing while in the main menu.
finally, go report to klei that their mod updating system is ~garbage~ broken

i dont have onedrive on my pc, i've even reinstalled the mod and the mod updater, none of that is working.

that is not the mod, that is your game getting blocked by onedrive.

i think the mod is glitched, it keeps telling me its updated and to restart like an infinite loop

Hi, Love the mod, but i keep getting a crash since the update, specifically whenever i try to add a new trait to a dupe(in-game, not in the printing pod or on starting a new colony)

And i only have spaced out dlc if that makes any difference

I resuscribed to the mod, have the last version but : no option in mods menu and DSS didn't work even in my actual game or when I start a new one :/

I can confirm that its working through the Steam workshop. After resubscribing, restarted the game and the mod version 8.6.1 is listed now.

workshop seems to be functional again

game said mod "failed to load, restart required" 4-5 times. I uninstalled the one in the local folder. redownloaded from the most recent link in this discussion. slapped that in the local mod folder unzipped. loaded the game 1 more time. then re-enabled all the mods and restarted. now they all seem to have loaded.

incase anyone is having issues this might help^^^^

Guess the just released QOL update broke it again. Game crashes on every launch attempt with this mod activtaed. :(
