my modding has been on pause for the last year or so, i just got too much going on. i definitely don't have the bandwidth to make a smaller version, this was a very time consuming model with all the details. my thought at making it so big was specifically to buff large ships and reward having an engineering section, but not obsolete the vanilla power options for smaller ships.

A request. but could we get a smaller plasma reactor even if it has an efficiency loss (less plasma per tank or more energy to convert to plasma) the size of the thing is pretty difficult to work with. Maybe allow the big reactor to bottle the plasma as a crafting recipe and have a smaller unbottler. that would circumvent the difficulty of making a connector specifically for the plasma conduits.

Hmm. I might have set the whole block to airtight. The mountpoints are complicated enough and I don't want to bog down the airtight calculations. Just don't take a nap in there lol.

hey so i made a whole grid and everything is working except all of the plasma generators produce max 250KW not MW. any ideas how to make it produce more?

is there a way to edit the power output? i want to bring this mod inline with the other reactor mods i use, I'm tired of always using the same over powered reactors and want something different.

There is no config in "Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\############\"save name"\storage" so i am guessing i would have to edit the mod directly but i'm not sure what to edit.

I'll consider it when I get the time to circle back to this. Originally I was having this thought like it's just gonna be a perk for big ships and not obsolete all the other in game stuff because the smaller ships will need it. Also connectors will muddy the logistics, I wouldn't have a way to enforce that plasma can only travel via conduits.

Odd request, but figure I'll ask. Is it possible to make/add either a mergeless plasma pipe or a mini "connector" type thing for transferring plasma (not plasma fuel)? The idea is to make a ship with generators and tanks, but leave the reactor process on a separate station to bring the size down. Alternatively, it would allow a smaller ship to run plasma generators and dock with a mothership with a reactor so again, the smaller ship is able to stay small. The only way I can see it now is make the plasma tanks a semi-removable part with merge blocks and just cut the pipes to release fully then bring in a fresh fully filled set of tanks. Thanks for such a great mod!

the reactor uses power to run but it is net positive amount of fuel made for the gens.

This works strange to me. I have whole setup. Generator, piping, reactor. tanks filled with plasma. When I turn the whole thing on it seems it drains a lot of power, not generate it :D

Yeah I agree that since I'm refining the materials, I should gain something out of it. I actually did a recalculation and turns out I'm wrong, made some unit errors and over-estimated energy content of ice. There's actually a very decent gain in energy content for A and B grade!

In fact, looks like energy content gained is higher for B grade (390%) than A grade (160%).

The intention is for the lower grade fuels to kinda just break even or be lossy, they are more for conversion convenience. But the better fuels should be decent gains.

I really like the look and feel of this mod! Sadly it only makes sense if you consider ice to be free.

If you factor in energy content of both U and H2 used by A and B grade recipes, you end up investing more energy than you gain. A grade recipe output should be increased by at least 3x, B grade 16x to make it fuel-efficient.

I'm using Isy's Inventory Manager to auto produce the plasma fuel. However, when learning the recipe, it only recognizes it as "Plasma Fuel" on the LCD regardless of which grade I select to produce. So if I put in a generic quota and check the assembler, it defaults to the basic Plasma Fuel, making from stone. If i remove the stone, then it create the fuel from another grade. Is this perhaps intentional? Or would this be a compatibility issue between the mod and script?

Interesting. Well these are set to use a mod gas called plasma. Other than that I don't have any scripting controlling the gens.. just changed the fuel and output numbers. Hopefully the author of the other mod can figure out the incompatibility.

Yes, everything is connected. After a little testing, I've figured out it is an incompatibility between this and Viable Hydrogen. I would guess there's not much you can really do, so I'll ask that mod author instead.

I'm having trouble setting up a functional network. My reactor is producing gas fine, and tanks are filling up, but my plasma generators don't start working. All are showing a yellow indicator light and Buildinfo is showing they have a 0L capacity, so they seem to not be consuming any gas, and so generate no power. Is this a bug? Presumably they should have some capacity for gas storage that they could then use, so is it buildinfo bugging, or this mod?

Any plans on making special connectors for the plasma gas that would make it possible to transfer between grids? Or a block/set of blocks that allow for both regular conveyor and plasma gas conveyor interaction?

oh, 100%. the idea of an engineering/reactor room like this is damn cool.

and making additions/adaptive mods separate is fine in all honesty.

in my 15 years of fucking around on gmod, seeing how people act and think of mods, i can 100% say that you are just fine.
If you want to cap this mod as it stands here (being complete) no one will mind.
If you make proper compatibility with Aryx, thatll solve alot of possibility overhang.

its all up to you. have fun doing these things. its a hobby, not a job... if you open my workshop, youll know how much i know about this stuff.

If I make a custom sound it will be quieter. I didn't expect so many complaints using a stock Keen sound effect for it.
More gasses+materials for more realistic industrial processes would be cool, but it's outside the scope of this mod. I really just wanted something modular and a neat looking reactor room.. and have been burned by scope creep before. There are some mods out there which add A LOT of new ores and materials.
Aside from the promised thrusters I think any future industrial or interior blocks would be a new mod.

I am all in on the energy and plasma systems that these 3 mods brings.

But, i feel the application doesnt fit a ecosystem of useability.
I just released a new ship called the Vox-Class. its... an office ship. for recruiting, other office crap, so forth. I built it around the MA reactor and gave it some nessels to pull away the overwhelming sounds of the generators.

Its a cool centralized engine/power system. though, from there, it just feels to fall off.
Maybe if there was a dedicated 'canning' tank block. or a use for the Plasma canisters/tanks. Like... hydrogen could be pulled from it in a settling chamber, depending on the type.
Oxygen Plasma is used for treating aluminum, steel, glass, plastics, and ceramics.
In plasma nitriding, the reactivity of the nitriding media is not due to the temperature but to the gas ionized state to high-harden metallic materials.

idk, im just ranting possible ideas to make the use of the system circular. and not just fall off.

It should be compatible with any other mod that uses gas named Plasma.. I did talk with Lynx about it back when I was first testing it but I haven't tested any multi-mod stuff yet.

this merged with the ability be be hooked with Lynxon Drive engines and Aryx weapons, thatd be cool. but ik that such a thing would take alot of time.
