for people who playin with enhanced reactors and genes+ mods. er is replaced standard fulgurium fuel rods, so for genes+ crafting works you need to modify GeneSplicers.xml . you can find it at that way "GENES+_MOD_FOLDER/Genetic/GeneSplicers.xml". after opening this file in editor you need to replace all "fulguriumfuelrod" to "fulguriumfuelrod_er". after that crafts must work.

After looking through the files, it looks like the only genes that actually work are Watcher, Fractal Guardian, Golden Hammerhead, Baby Moloch (basically useless), Black Moloch (emp attack and head protection), and Mudraptor Veteran & Spineling Gigant (basically their exact vanilla counterparts before they were buffed)

@Eoin Lynne I’ve got a strong feeling the author just didn’t finish this part. It kinda looks like something planned for a future update. This was probably supposed to be the Mother Crawler gene, and the idea might’ve been to summon Crawlers or something like that. But right now, it’s just an object with no real code behind it.

There is a newer tweaked variant of this mod where some genes are fixed, but the mod doesn't work because its missing a sprite texture. This needs a refresh, because its very good.

Um like 70% of the added genes just don't do anything? I didn't even get error logs, broodmother had an icon but also didn't do anything, the only new ones that worked are your "newest" genes added, and im pretty sure the watcher gene doesn't work either, unless you haven't set up an effect status, not any visable changes in crew repair speed or anything.

Just want to reinforce that this mod is outdated. It removes the new vanilla feature to be able to untaint genes. Which is pretty bad since now genes get tainted when people die.

Either that, or I've seen through the debug commands that there are a multitude of unfinished genes like "Latcher Genetics" and "Black Moloch Genetics", so somebody could also take this version of the gene mod and re-revive it, either way works fine

guys, this mod literally doesn't matter

the mod "Better Genes" does everything this one does except add the other genesplicers, and more, it's basically an updated and overhauled version

All we need, is somebody to please make a standalone version of this mod's genesplicer upgrades and upgrade system and then the Barotrauma community is set for gene mods!

I'm playing in a group with this mod and everything seems to be working. We have just outfitted most of our not bot crew are rocking two perfectly mixed sets of genes but we are having trouble finding the overdrive chips.

Wondering if this effects percentage of gene drops. been playing a while and Im halfway through section 2. Me and my fellow doctor haven't found any genes whatsoever. need some help here

Amendment for psilotoad genes - its only cure the husk infection like the antibiotics so dont expect anything special from this gene.

The mod adds many genes to the game, but several of all the genes are not added (they are not ready at the code level), and most of the added ones are impossible to get. This is done so that the player does not get a gene that is not finished. Right now you can get 4 genes from this mod, the rest can only be obtained using mods for spawning things (like sandbox menu) or cheats (commonly through the game's console if you know the item id).
The 4 genes:
fractal guard - almost instant repairs
watcher - allows harness an abilities of a watcher, and provides a boost in damage resistance
psilotoad - works like broadspectrum antibiotics (don't damages with the neurotrauma)
golden hammerhead - literally the crawler + mantis.

Why doesn't it work? I see the "vomit" effect on enemies, which is caused by the "psychosis" effect imposed by the Watcher's gene. But for allies this gene gives a buffs i cant remember.
