It's not technically The Roman Empire, it's The Holy Roman Empire Of German Nation (practically germans). Search it up on wikipedia.

dude hard to break it to you but the roman empire didn't exist in the 1600s

not really europe 1600 infact its very far from it

for exampel ottomans controlled egypt at the time aswell as controlling greece.

spain also controlled southern parts of italy (Naples) and sicily along with sardina plus they did not have such big holds of africa

can we chose other civs?

Fantastic map/scenario. Hosted it and played Franks, which I gotta say.... seemed pretty tough compared to all the other starting positions. But survived til my Goth and Hun allies prevailed. Anyway, good fun and overall nice balance!

Hey Guys! After much messing around in senerio editor i figured out the solution for only being able to play as franks. In the player tab under player type you will need to switch players 2-8 to "either" as they are set to AI. Save the senerio and you can switch players. NOTE: the civs and teams will not change so you will need to manually chang the teams and or civs based on what you want to play. @Croboss Maybe you can make this change so players who subscribe don't have to make this change manually?

I'm not really sure why that would be happening. In that case i would recommend playing a multiplayer game and having someone else host if you would like to be a different player. Not sure what you could do in singleplayer...

Hi, great scenario! The only problem is i can only play as France...
Usually I can just switch my player number, just like in any scenario i download, but somehow i can't with this one. For example, if i load the Middle Earth scenario or any other one i have, the player number is inside a black slot, yet as soon as I switch to this scenario, the "black box" jus dissapears, and I can't change the number... It's so frustrating xD
Can you think of anything?

mrk_ck: Well i'm still not sure how I would do that as the triggers still relate to the players being in the correct slot and color. You could still play it with players in different slots, some of the triggers just wouldnt work.

ThePelicanThing: It would make sense, since this was made before the forgotten empires were out we made the scenario with what we had, and thanks :D

It would be nice if Russia or Poland were Slavs. Goths as P-L feels really out of place. Perhaps Berbers as Africans as well for historical accuracy? Otherwise a fantastic scenario.

You should be able to pick whatever civ you want and it should be fine, those set civs are basically the ones that match the time period and areas

would anything happen if i pick something other than the set civs? like dynscs or crashes or would everything be normal?

You should be able to just change your color and number and you will be a different player

To the creators: do you think you could edit it so that there's verisons where a different player is player 1?

great map. very well designed. needs work on single player though. problem as it crashes if you try to play on scenario. so i changed it to a campaign scenario then it worked. but only as blue. have to edit it so player 1 is someone else. also no triggers for making alliances in single player which as france you need if youre playing on hard difficulty. impossible otherwise

Eagle, I'd check but for some unknown reason I cant play singleplayer. It crashes when I click singleplayer. It trys to download something but steam is always busy.

Can you make a new version including Portugal, please? :D

So here's what I did. First I unsubscribed, then restarted Steam. Then I re-subscribed and opened the game. I went to Edit Scenario and changed it so that I could play all 8 players. Then I saved it as another scenario. Still only was able to be blue

I guess, what I meant to say is, where do I go and what changes do I make?

I think the game layout updated a bit and some stuff changed

Eagle the reason why it still doesnt let you is steam re-fixes it instantly :) so go there, make changes and save with another name. that shall work.

Actually, I tried a few other scenarios that I'm subscribed to, and the same exact thing happened. I was still blue. But they made me the civ for the player I chose. Weird. Maybe I need to update the game or something

General Daniels: If they arn't in the map then they wern't very relevant or really states at that time.

Eagle942: I believe it should let you play the player with the color that you choose. So if you picked blue, you would be France. I might be wrong on this... but try it.

Cihangir Akkurt: We havn't really worked on the map in a while and sorry to say but I don't think we are going to be uploading a new one with a bunch of changes, but in any case, thanks for the suggestions.

where is hungary? where is italy? (italian states)

Also can you fix those cliffs a bit? for example in norway and anatolia, there are gold mines between cliffs and sea, but no place to build a mining camp. so you have to load-unload villagers to collect it with transport ships.

I found the reason behind why we cant choose other factions, when I checked the editor only the player 1, aka france, is marked as either and the rest is AI only. Thats why we can only play with france. If you can change it people can play with every faction when they are playing SP.

I don't really have a download link for it, and to put it on voobly you would need to get the scenario in game and then transfer it.

It are possible to send me the link of the download because I subscribed here. But I do not receive the link of download with age of official empire on voobly.

The problem is I can't click on my color. On all other scnearios I can click, but in this one it seems locked. I unsubcribed then downloaded again but still the same problem persists.

You should be able to change your nation by changing your color and civ to the right ones

Well this is mainly a multiplayer game so people are supposed to change diplomacy in multiplayer

How do we use diplomacy? Computers dont respond to changing to neutral

Yeah, Poland-Lithuania is always one of the first to go.

Factions are not entirely balanced. In order of best to worst, here is my guess:
p8: turks
p7: huns
p3: saracens
p6: spanish
p1: franks
p2: britons
p4: teutons
p5: goths
