making benches for each type of item would probably be recommended. What i mean by type is: Steel, Hardened steel, star metal, stone, iron

Sometimes when they finish on the hour and they cook or tan what they are doing they do not auto queue back up

So if you have more than 1 placeholder you should only have 1 on each bench fyi
having more will prevent it from gathering what you really want by replacing what you want them to do by adding another placeholder to the queue. So, only 1 placeholder is needed.

the tool has to be what the recipe calls for... for example. a stone pick for gathering stone. a stone hatchet for gathering wood. the recipe will tell you specifically what kind of tool is required and if anything else is needed to kick off. For example, for gold, you need a gold rocknose, and an obsidian pick i think. add food/thralls and that should get you started.

put converted thralls in the table, put the tools for what ever recipe you want in the table, put steaks in the table, and if the recipe needed an item like gossamer or a animal head.. then you put that in as well. then hit play if it didnt auto start. for the advanced tables, you might need to use coal as well.

I guess I am confused on how this works, Do you put the thrall in the table since there is no thrall spot? Then is so do you put the tools in the table also? I did the TAG recipe and it shows in the que. The instructions are kind of vague and only about the process not so much about how it works from setting the gathering and hunting tables up.

so stupid question. How do you use the t3 benches to hunt for gossamer or ichor if the bench converts the gossamer into silk before it can start hunting for them?

does anyone know why i cant use it on my dedicated server? everytime i install this mod i cant connect to my server, i keep getting the "connection times out! could not find server" error, does anyone have a solution for this issue?

hmm, i got focused on the tag thing in the tables that i didnt remember that it was crafted in the player inventory. :(

yea, just went back in and checked. it looks like the video was using fiber to craft it but ive tried just about everything and it wont craft. tried with fuel, without, with food, without, with a thrall, without... nothing. I went in and found the item in the cheat menu so maybe ill just spawn a bunch and use them. Do those get consumed? or will 1 in there be good forever?

How to you add the tag item though? it wont drag, i cant craft it, dbl click it or anything. i saw that video above where it was added to the central area but ive yet to get mine to actually put it in there.

hmm i just dont get what the fast tables are doing for me. They dont auto restart and the processing seems to not work fully. Im guessing that this is just an out of date mod for the higher tier benches. The hunting i hit play, it goes... and then it just sits there once it finished. at least the low tier benches will auto run again. shame really.

sorry, the t2 and t3 benches i meant. just wondering if there could be a toggle added to these benches to process them or not. I like the speed they give, i just dont need things processed as it goes.

Is there a way to prevent the hunting table from auto cooking the meat? i need the raw meat for taming but as soon as a batch comes in, the table just decides to auto cook it.

hi i might be using an older version but i managed to make 4 benches so far (normal hunter/gatherer, and advanced processing ones) and can see all images for the recipes, though the orange phykos was missing an icon. (it could just be me thought but i paste a screenshots for you soon just to show)

oh i didnt know that about 4 items only...(i only tried making a mod for conan about a year ago or something, called Darfari Safari, which only partly worked, to convert darfari drums and other items, back into raw materials, but another modder made a cool looting and disassembling mod which was way better) :)

maybe the arrows could work as follows:
Archer Table craftable building, takes:
10 arrows and a T1 archer = animal carcass item (1 item)
(with higher tier archers needing fewer and fewer arrows)
(maybe the names ones like Master Huntress, or Huntsmaster_Ragnar only need 1 shot 1 kill) :)

and then the animal carcass item, simply gets processed elsewhere with a recipe that gives up to those 4 things back :)

Just a followup - Anyone else experiencing difficulties might want to try unsubbing and then re-subbing to the mod. That seemed to fix my issues. Feel kinda stupid for not trying that from get-go...

@dracahn So it was the missing coal that did it. The crafting squares are still pretty random showing up or not until you're actually crafting. I think it may be bit confused about the requirements to operate. That said could we get a spreadsheet of returns vs input for different benches?

@pgames-food thanks for the feedback. I will definitely use one of those suggestions. The feat/recipe organization has been added to the 'bug list'. So I'll take care of that soon.
As for the second suggestion - I love the idea, but I don't see it being implemented too easily. Everything I'm doing at the moment uses the vanilla recipe system, which only allows for 4 item types to come back. So I could say 'use an arrow to hunt' but you can only get 4 types of items back. So meat, hide, a specific head, and horn.
There's some stuff I could maybe do by using a 'bearer pack' but that's getting very complicated and difficult to pull off. Something I'll have to think about and research a bit more. I know a little on how that system works, but not enough to have any kind of plan. Feedback is still appreciated, so if you have more, let me know.

@OCD Insomniac Hit me up on discord so I can see screenshots of what you're doing. My first thought is the feats - make sure you have all the feats for T2 and T3 benches. Not sure why the T1 benches aren't running. Make sure you're following one of the recipes? I figure you're doing that, so if you have cooked steak + a tool + a thrall + a head you should be getting something back. Please reach out on discord if you're still struggling and we'll get it fixed up. Currently mine is sitting in the middle of 50ish mods and still works.

@xakthos, I'm guessing at your issue, but try adding coal. I don't think I explained that, so that's my bad. T2 and T3 gathering benches require coal to run (seeing as they can smelt things - I wanted to keep that little bit of balance). T2 and T3 hunting tables require Cooked Meat to 'fuel' it. I'll make sure that's clear in my next youtube video.

Hey guys, I appreciate all the feedback thus far.
1st off - i'll re-do the youtube tutorial. Hopefully that will help those of you having issues figure out what's up. Please let me know in response comments what was wrong - this will help me know what to emphasize in any future guides. Perhaps there's something I forgot to mention, and I'll be able to make sure others don't have the same issues.
2nd - I'm adding a discord server for troubleshooting/bug reporting. I want this thing to work, so I'm more than happy to help and fix things where necessary. Don't hesitate to use, and send screenshots.

for example, in the main game, (or with mods), npc often have a few stone, bone, iron arrows on them etc, and the player can make some with feathers and bones etc, but then we end up with arrows that might just sit in inventory, especially if our defenders are sword fighters, or the basic arrows npc thrall archers have are sufficient,

but this way, we when we find a few spare arrows here and there, of different types, it usually is not worth giving them to npcs, like tar arrows,, or poison arrows, in case they fire them into our base while trying to hit the enemy. also a few arrows given to our archer on guard duty, will quickly run out,, but if we can put them into an archery table, or something, we can actually convert those random arrows into something else :) for further processing elsewhere.

hi i saw the youtubes about new updates, and it looks like youve put tons of new recipes and features in, in a balanced way. (i know this takes time as i spent ages on recipes in my rimside recycling mod for rimworld lol, to get the values right for the items, and theres still tons to go) :)

i had 2 thoughts that maybe you could do if you wanted, which might also help players too, which is these:

thought 1) to add a number in the bench name, like TAG1 gatherer, and then Tag2 master gatherer, etc, just so that when all the benches appear in the crafting inventory area, they will appear in sorted, name where each one in the row is the slightly better version of the same one

thought 2) what about a recipe for hunting, which has a chance of gettting a small animal (body/head/meat etc), but it is an Archery Table, where it actually requires Arrows :)

So the higher end efficient and fast gathering tables won't execute but the base gathering table will. The efficient hunter table executes as well but they're all very wonky about making items in the inventory vanish and not always letting the start/stop button for burn time work.

So like OCD I've tried top of the load order and last of the load order. It really acts highly buggy as to how it reacts. Not sure where the issue is.

I'm totally exited about this mod, but having a pretty severe issue. No matter where I put the mod in my load order, I have issues with it. I only get the basic tables available for unlocking (no tiered tables) and when I add thralls and required reagents to the table, I get nothing at all. No action...the grilled steak just sits there and nothing is hunted/gathered. Neither table is working at all. What am I missing? I've watched the videos several times but cannot get anything to work at all. Maybe a better guide video to get it running? Thanks again for the mod...would be crazy useful if I could just get it to work.

@StartEYE No, artisan thrall is just what they call the thrall that goes in any bench. E.G. a carpenter in the carpenter bench, or a blacksmith in the blacksmith bench. Those are generically called 'artisan thralls'.

@StardEYE Sure, I'm open for help. Source control is in the description. If you have anything you want to contribute, let me know. One thing I'm struggling with is the artisan thrall stuff. I don't know how to customize it so that you can add an artisan thrall. I also wanted the UI to look much different, but again, couldn't figure out how to do that. I know it's possible - i've seen other mods do it - but I have no idea how to do it myself. If you know anything about those, let me know. Or if you want to implement them yourself, feel free to pull the code down and make updates and make a pull request. Just let me know before-hand so there's not any merge conflicts.

@PBz Charlie - thanks for the callout
tl;dr: working as intended, but description was wrong. Hunting station allows better tool use, gathering table doesn't. I might add that functionality to the Gathering Table in the future.

Long Version:
Sorry for the lack of clarity. Originally it was just the hunting table, which does work with better tools. However, when I added the Gathering Table, i did not update the description to specify that the Gathering table does not have progressive recipes. It's something I'll consider doing in the future, but for now the tier of tool in the gathering table determines what resource your thralls gather for you. As opposed to the Hunting table that required some identifier of the animal you're hunting.

It uses archer or fighter thralls only. I'm hoping to implement functionality for the utility thralls (carpenters, cooks, etc.) at some point, but that's going to be a bit while.

yeah is it for any thrall?
i basically have about 5 wheels dotted around the local area, and try to capture as many thralls as i can, but most of them are just sitting in boxes and storage, like spare cooks, or archers. can they be used too?

Hi, Can i assign any thrall to the benches? or dose it have to be a tanner for the tanning bench for example.
