Does this still work?

Great little mod, Thank you... I wonder if its possible to charge my suit if i am in range ;)

See it as a sender and all batteries on other grids in its range are receivers. You would simply waster power if you would carger your drone batteries... with the power from the drone batteries.
Malpherian Feb 8, 2022 @ 6:28pm
You state this does not charge batteries on the same grid. Does this mean if you put this on your drone it wont charge its batteries?

Or do you need to land your drone on this (with it attached to a separate grid for it to charge?

I guess I am not understanding the point of this (Or how it works) if it can't charge batteries on the same grid....

Not at the Moment as I'm taking a break from SE. However I highly suggest the Tethers Mod as it has similar mechanics to charge Batteries without the need for a connector.

@Sadragos Do you have any plans to refine or flesh out this mod?
Sadragos  [author] Feb 20, 2021 @ 6:42am
@Rantalunta Yes, this Mod is in fact a WIP just to proove that it is possible and was thrown together in a few minutes actually. It was not planned to make this a "big mod" or anything :)

The copyright thing I've added to all my public mods. I've spend day working on Tiered Tech Blocks (the mod that was copied over and over without attribution) can be easily identified as I used a special naming convention inside the sbc and created every Icon myself - both of which was used - with the same file structure etc. It was a clear copy without doubt - even if it was an older version, that does not make it better.

To be clear: I've absolutely no problem if someone creates an alternate version of my mods for personal use (unlisted / friends only) or even for public use. I've always only asked for the proper attribution. Unfortunatly only about 20% of the copies do that....
Rantalunta Feb 20, 2021 @ 6:24am
I dont want to reduce your acomplishment, since you have learned how to do this and spent a good time creating and testing. All without payment. For people who dont have the time or wish to get into modding themselves. And hopefully for fun :)

All the credit for this goes to you. Thx for this mod.

PS: I play mostly singleplayer and have no server, nor do i publish mods from other people, so i am not that guy.
Rantalunta Feb 20, 2021 @ 6:24am
Regarding the copycat: have you looked at the code? Did he copy it?

I think this mod could easily be reproduced from scratch by a decent modder in a day. You have a few checks for nearby grids, some calculus to manipulate the battery blocks, some logic to decide which to pick - no rocket science imho.
Also the idea of wireless charging or power transmitting. There are phones charged wireless, Nicola Tesla had ideas about it and there are several mods for SE, here is one from 2015
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=584639195 which involve wireless power stuff. So here also nothing revolutionary new.

So a person _could_ create this on his/her own and put it on a server and claim credit for it.
Without even knowing you made something similiar.

excellent! charges a tiny hoverbike (made from mod small blocks only, 6 small blocks long only, 3 wide, 2 height) like a gem.

the obvious next step, when you feel like it, it is a new model than the battery's one. i would suggest to offer two variations of the same, one stack-able (typical square block) and another more aesthetically pleasing that could have only on side to attach it (like gyros)
Bodyboarder2528 Dec 14, 2020 @ 5:11pm
i know someone that does nice models so you dont need to use the battery one

it does help yes, and in my case, when it comes to the major mods, ( see my below comment ) we take the further step over and above of actually filing a copyright in 3 key countries to cover NA, EU and RF copyright laws, thus not counting on ONLY Steam EULA and the games EULA for it under the law.

One other thing as well is in our code there is a DRM system in various ( many ) location's that checks the mods encoded number in game. No match ( which it will do when its a copy of the mod and not the original ) or the mod size check sum is wrong...all scripts stop working. Dead mod lol. Have had a few people come to me saying hey the animations aren't working or the lights in the blocks are dead or I get no display etc etc...... Blam, caught )

Alot of the clones stopped after we sued 5 individuals in the courts.... and of course won.
Sadragos  [author] Dec 8, 2020 @ 12:00pm
It will scan for any battery no matter the type or size - I designed it specifically to charge tiny drones or rovers, that look ugly with a connector.

The copyright stuff is really annoying - until a few days ago I was totally okay with copies as long as there was an attribution. But then I joined a Server and the owner boasted with totally custom and special thing, that he made in hours of work... bla bla bla... it was a straight copy of my mod.

I've seen, that you have a copyright file inside of your mod (I checked the components to use gray-water type-ids - does that help or do you still get many clones?
Skallabjorn Dec 8, 2020 @ 11:10am
and yeah I have run into the same issue you have with re-posts of mods... I dont warn any more I hit them with the DMCA AND I have my firm contact Steam for info on civil action on the violation. ( the advantage of having a Digital Media Rights firm in the family businesses chain )
Skallabjorn Dec 8, 2020 @ 10:44am
Is this specific to a certain battery type or any battery within range?
