Hi cybrxkhan, just wanted to say I love you for making this mod, take all the time you need to update life comes first, we'll be here :)
TurtleShroom 8 hours ago
When this Mod updates, will it be compatible with the Oriental Empires Mod innately? It had a compatibility patch years ago, but it has not been updated since V1.14 .
Astraph Nov 8 @ 5:12pm
NGL, my current campaign idea (a missionary along the Silk Road) is kiiiinda dependent on your Silk Road stuf... But as Kangarus said, RL comes first, patience is a virtue, so I just sit here, checking the page every now and then (and learning Dwarf Fortress while I'm at it XD)
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 8 @ 12:50pm
I've just put out a second dev diary to go over the Aslian Flavor Pack and new Southeast Asian stuff coming with RICE's update to AUH, check it out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/1orzs23/rice_mod_dev_diary_59_aslian_flavor_pack/

I've also uploaded a second version of the RICE beta on GitHub, with additional stuff and tweaks - please see the top of the description for the GitHub link. It is NOT savegame compatible with the first beta and will NOT be compatible with the official update to 1.18.
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 8 @ 11:27am
@Kangarus Thank you for the kind words :)
Kangarus Nov 8 @ 5:43am
I'm looking forward to the update as much as anyone else begging for updates, but I also appreciate that real life is a thing and that patience is a virtue. Therefore, take what time you need @cybrxkhan.
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 7 @ 9:09pm
@CitesSkyliner I've worked closely with Rajas of Asia for years and we're in fact helping each other with the AUH update (as well as Oriental Empires). Plus, it's not too much effort for me to stay compatible with them. For Iberia, it's one of the more content heavy areas of RICE, as it has the Granada and Galicia flavor packs, and misc stuff from updates like the Sicily, Sardinia, and Sus flavor packs. I hope to return there too in the future as I love the region, but as Garlhax and Vandegrand kindly said about me, there's only so much I can do. There's many places I want to explore, like central Europe, so we'll see when I get to that.

@Andreses Currently RICE is not up to date with patch 1.18, so there may be bugs. If you're using the RICE beta, have you tried running RICE without any other mods, not even minor mods?

@Just A Jackal: Thanks!

@Lord Bobromyl (Deus Vult ✞): It'll hopefully come later this month! 🙏
Update pls
Just A Jackal Nov 7 @ 11:32am
I love this mod and I'm patiently waiting for the official update :)
Andreses Nov 7 @ 6:50am
Hello, I wanted to know why when playing with the Rice mod I appear wearing temple clothes, I don't know how to fix this and if in the comments you could give me some solution.:)
Vandegrand Nov 7 @ 1:15am
I also agree with ingerain7. CitesSkyliner calm down. There are a lot of things to do in real life for everyone. If cybrxkhan need some time then we need to give that to him. You choose this mod so you should respect the creator of this mod.
glitched Nov 6 @ 11:21am
all my homies hate CitiesSkyliner
Garlhax Nov 6 @ 8:03am
CitesSkyliner, Ingerain7 is right, and there are two packs in the Iberian Peninsula, plus and official DLC I think there's plenty of content, besides, there are other mods that also add so much to that zone, not to Madrid specifically, but still. Also, I don't think Madrid would make for an interesting pack, Toledo was far more important than Madrid in this time period
ingerain7 Nov 6 @ 7:22am
CitesSkyliner, you're truly pushing the limits of patience. A huge thank you to cybrxkhan for what already exists and for supporting this creation. Demanding anything more is simply impudent.
CitesSkyliner Nov 6 @ 7:18am
and also cybrxkhan: A lot of the Iberian peninsula is devoid of packs, I think Madrid should get its own pack in particular that allows greater interaction with the city and if there is a university that as well. Also I noticed there are no flavor packs for Paris nor Rome. These are great cities! Should they not have a pack? I appreciate the diversity but if you want to play in western and Central Europe you dont get much in traditional countries!
CitesSkyliner Nov 6 @ 7:12am
cybrxkhan: Rajas of india is no longer compatible with AUH. So maybe stop worrying about compatible with that mod?
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 5 @ 9:19pm
@prusbartek Thanks!

@Pyrrr94
@Skorri
Right now, I'm hoping sometime in mid to late November, depending on how much bugfixing I have to do. It's probably 80% done content-wise, but I'll be on and off busy this month (bad timing lol) which will delay things a bit.

@ingerain7 They are certainly under consideration! I know the Hungarian plain and the Balkans are a bit bereft of RICE content compared to other places atm, so I do want to do something in that vicinity eventually. There's also been some players on my discord channel who've kindly collected some great recommendations and ideas for me over the years for Hungary. However, I will say no guarantees when I'll get around to it as there's so much I want to do and so little time lol.

@CitesSkyliner You are free to make your own sub-mod if you like. I don't really have time or energy to maintain a bunch of little mods for every preference under the sun.
CitesSkyliner Nov 5 @ 7:01am
@cybrxkhan By just looking at your mods you can do small mods.
CitesSkyliner Nov 5 @ 6:54am
@cybrxkhan I somewhat understand your point about hunting but why not make that a sub-mod instead? Also for kalends even if it is late in game it still matters. Example: The zealous byzantine emperor is celebrating kalends in 1452. Does that make sense? No! After you reach the point when kalends should turn off and it is still on the game becomes unimmersive.
ingerain7 Nov 5 @ 5:38am
Hello! Are there any plans to make an expansion for the Magyar culture? They feel kind of empty in the original game.
Skorri Nov 5 @ 2:49am
Hello this is my favorite mod in all of ck3 I was wondering when the AUH update is?
Pyrrr94 Nov 4 @ 11:40pm
Hey @cybrxkhan big fan of your work especially viet and rice. Just wanted to ask if you know if there is an approximatly time when rice update would be ready?
prusbartek Nov 4 @ 10:35pm
Very great job dear autor! Keep going to work. Very good job! The best mod to CK3 a ever seen
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 4 @ 6:18pm
@CitesSkyliner I can't modify hunting events without touching vanilla code which I won't do to ensure maximum compatibility.

I originally planned for the Kalends to go out of fashion based on various circumstances, but did not have enough time to implement that when I worked on it last year. Maybe when I have more time in the future I can revisit it. It went out of fashion very late in the CK3 timeframe so it's not a high priority.
CitesSkyliner Nov 4 @ 9:21am
I also think some events should be turned off throughout time and some being turned on. Example: Kalends should be turned off after a certain point for most faiths unless you are pagan.
CitesSkyliner Nov 4 @ 9:17am
I thought of a really great idea! cybrxkhan could you reference crossbows in hunting if certain conditions are met? The text in game would reference fellow hunters using them. Maybe you could also make a 3D model of a crossbow if there is no vanilla one?
CitesSkyliner Nov 4 @ 9:07am
"However i do what I can to show changes over time such as cultures adopting upgraded versions of their traditions, or decisions/activities getting different bonuses over time." That would be amazing!
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 3 @ 9:24pm
@thekidld The mod is currently not up to date, so you shouldn't be using the normal Steam version with 1.18. Also, old saves from 1.17, whether vanilla or modded, will be borked with 1.18, so you should roll back to the old 1.17 version of the game if you want to continue a game started on 1.17. If you're not sure how to roll back, you can go here: https://ck3.paradoxwikis.com/index.php?title=Patches#Rollback

If you are starting a fresh save on 1.18 and meant that the same historical characters look different however in 1.18 vs 1.17, however, then that's because 1) the devs seem to have reworked character graphics in 1.18; and 2) DNA is only defined for very few historical characters, most actually are randomized, and this random seed will change from version to version and if mods are added, it has nothing to do with the mods or version in and of themselves.
thekidld Nov 3 @ 8:14pm
Hey does this mod affect character DNA? Since the major expansion happened my characters look completely different from my save on 1.17.1
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 3 @ 7:17pm
@Thessian I believe they should be compatible, yes.

@CitiesSkyliner That's more an issue with the vanilla game in general, but I guess RICE doesn't touch much on really broad stuff like that since I stick to regional content. However i do what I can to show changes over time such as cultures adopting upgraded versions of their traditions, or decisions/activities getting different bonuses over time.

@N*rd: Thanks!

@owenza777 You're welcome! Thankfully I did get early access which saved a lot of time, but sadly I'll be a bit busy in November so it'll take a little more longer, but hopefully not too long.
owenza777 Nov 3 @ 5:49pm
Thank you for posting in the description that you're already working on the next update. :) I appreciate that you knew we'd all come flocking here for hope.
N*rd Nov 3 @ 10:55am
keep up your amazing work
CitesSkyliner Nov 3 @ 7:05am
However you did ignore my comment about how the medieval always feels the same no matter what year it is. Please respond!
CitesSkyliner Nov 3 @ 7:05am
Thank you for a speedy response! And thessian I am pretty sure they work together.
Thessian Nov 3 @ 2:59am
Hello cybrxkhan, and thanks for you fantastic mod(s)! I wonder if your RICE mod is compatible with PiGu's MedivalArts mod. I think your mods could be great together.
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 3 @ 12:31am
@FryFly I was given early access so it helped me save a lot of time, but from my many years of experience modding one just has to get used to the reality that updates may come inconveniently. It's one reason why I don't modify vanilla code, it makes updating much easier.

@CitesSkyliner I have decided not to post the beta version on Steam because I don't really have time to provide support for a buggy WIP version of the mod, and I also don't think many people will understand the beta won't be compatible with the full official update. With the current version I can just tell folks it's not up to date yet and that's that. If people are interested enough in the beta they can install it manually, and it isn't really hard to install once you figure it out.
CitesSkyliner Nov 2 @ 3:42pm
@Fryfly: Many people do not like the constant updates, They are hated here and in the cities skylines community. It least we can play with more content even if many mods are broken.
CitesSkyliner Nov 2 @ 3:41pm
Hey this is a major problem for me with any CK3 playthrough: The game runs from 878 to 1453 but the events and much of the gameplay stays the same. Everything is upgraded but the events act as if nothing has happened. Especially with the introduction of gunpowder in the late game. Nobody references it in any event I have seen.
CitesSkyliner Nov 2 @ 3:37pm
Thank you dev team! However, could you give us the github beta here separately? People love this mod and besides the beta will probably work better in then whatever buggy nightmare the current mod is in 1.18.
FyrFly Nov 2 @ 2:22pm
Dear author...are you hating the numerous updates also? You probably don't need to hurry too quickly. By the time you have updated for 1.18 they will put out 1.19 and all our modded saves will go to crap! Definitely not your fault...just an observation. Great mod BTW! Thank you for your efforts. Really wish there was a way subscription included a choice of past updated mods. The other mod site has that option.
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 2 @ 11:40am
@Mikhail: They will also be considered for sure!

@Unqelos D'Orayta: The existing Manichean content will work with the Mingism religion added in vanilla, I intentionally coded most of it so it's technically tied to the Light doctrine for Gnostic faiths like Manicheism, not Manicheism per se, since back then I helped Rajas of Asia implement their version of Mingism. Actually, Chinese Manicheans already have a bit of extra flavor too, especially if you play as Chen Pingshan (the landless adventurer Manichean) in 1066. So, these will remain more or less as is with the new update to AUH!
Unqelos D'Orayta Nov 2 @ 6:34am
You guys already have Manichean flavor, especially for the Uyghurs. But around the 867 start date, Fuqing and Fuzhou are becoming Manichean centers in China(along with other places), will you adapt your existing Manichean content for more suitability among Chinese and East Asian players? I really want to do a Manichean run in China.
You need to do a Flavour Pack of the Jurchen/Manchu
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 1 @ 2:02pm
Hello everyone, just put up a dev diary going over the new content coming with the WIP Hangzhou Flavor Pack! See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/1olyitm/rice_mod_dev_diary_58_hangzhou_flavor_pack_and/

Another dev diary will be up for the Aslian Flavor Pack hopefully in a week or so.

@Mikhail: Hopefully the dev diary will answer some of your question :)

@Odoxon It will likely cause issues/CTDs. I put up a beta version for RICE 1.18.0 which is stable(r), but since it's still buggy/incomplete, it's not recommended for serious playthroughs and will not be compatible with the eventual official release of RICE 1.18.0. If you're fine with messing around with some jank/bugs, see the GitHub link at the top of the description for info on how to get the beta.
Odoxon Nov 1 @ 1:19pm
Can you still use the mod with the current version of the game or will it cause issues?
What yo will add in the 1.18 update?
cybrxkhan  [author] Nov 1 @ 12:28pm
Hello all, as I mentioned previously, work is still ongoing to update RICE to 1.18. If you're interested, I have an open beta up on GitHub (see link in description), but it is buggy and not intended for serious playthroughs - if you use that, please read the instructions.

For those wondering what content I'll do in the future, I intend to do content for other places in Asia in the long run, including Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Southeast Asia, etc., but no guarantees what and when.

@Mechero It will include most of the old content, alongside new content. A few things will be removed (mainly some of Guiyi content since it intersects with PI's new China stuff), to make it easier to update to AUH.

@Tilarium Thanks for your tireless service o7 I've added a picture to the top saying the mod isn't up to date in clear bold words so hopefully that'll get the message across to most folks lol
Mechero Nov 1 @ 12:21pm
For 1.18 do you plan to release it with the current mod content or do you plan to add new things before releasing the update?
tilarium Nov 1 @ 11:29am
@CitiesSkyliner

cybrxkhan [author] Oct 30 @ 12:50am
Thanks all for your eagerness and understandnig!

For those asking about a timeframe, I don't want to make any guarantees, but best case scenario is in a week, but more realistically I expect maybe midlate Nov. The current WIP beta build is stable(ish) but there's still a lot I have to polish and some bugs to iron out, given how big AUH is so I don't want to put it out with any serious problems.

@von_das Yes, Hangzhou as in the capital city of the Southern Song :)

@Wulfhund I'm also disappointed in SEA, and will definitely adjust the culture setup even if it's a little outside what my normal scope would be, as I want to lay a good foundation for future RICE content in SEA. I'll leave more balkanized setups to mods like Rajas of Asia, but even as an anti-granularist I think further tweaks can be done, so I hope to have a "what vanilla could be" setup so to speak :)
CitesSkyliner Nov 1 @ 10:49am
Amazing mod but the mod breaks the game right now. Could you please update to 1.18?
