@Cole It should be compatible, RICE should be compatible with most small to mid mods like that one

@Tire the Inflator: Usually that's not a mod issue, it's just the game not recognizing your mods as being the same - it's a pretty common issue across all PI games, especially if there's trouble with updating mods, and there's nothing really much modders can do about it. I would suggest both of you downloading the manual install version of the mod off GitHub (see top of the description for link), and installing that. That way it's likelier the game will recognize the code as being the same.

@Mozart The logs are often not helpful for detecting CTDs, due to being filled with what are more like reminders than actual gamebreaking bugs per se (the case you mention is something like that that has appeared more in the last vanilla patch). If you keep crashing in 892, do you notice any recurring patterns or behavior? For instance, does it happen when you're doing a certain activity, ending a war with someone, etc. Are you running any other mods, including other cosmetic and minor mods? And is this on a save that was started when all those mods were updated to the latest patch, and not added partway through?

@FunGaming44 Game rules were added in the last version to turn struggles off, but please be aware this may lead to unpredictable behavior or issues with struggle-related content.

@bob_iron Yeah someone reported that to me earlier and I was able to reproduce it. I'm guessing some changes to *something* is causing a CTD when the game tries to switch the player to Zhang Yichao. I'll have to disable that until I figure out the issue in the hotfix. For now, I suggest picking the first option or starting as someone else and switching to Guiyi after the AI chooses.

@Lin Nacume: RICE's Rus decision does allow you to keep any of those heritages - the way it works, the new Rus culture will get the heritage of your capital county's culture. You'll also be able to choose the language too, though that's a bit more restricted. Maybe you're looking at a decision from another mod?

The game keeps crashing around 892 and the crash log is filled with the same error that says

First of all, I want to say that this is a cool mod, and I was really looking forward to its updates. I like the author’s approach to its content.

However, I’m disappointed with the decision regarding the formation of Russian culture.

When playing as Rurik the Viking, I face a choice: either to adopt the decision to form Russian culture and lose all Viking bonuses, or to hybridize manually, but then follow an “unhistorical” path.

Wouldn’t it be better to make the formation of Russian culture similar to the Norman culture in France? The player could be given a choice: to mix Vikings with Eastern Slavs and get their heritage, or with Finno-Ugric peoples and get their heritage, or with the Pechenegs, getting Turkic heritage. After all, we’re playing a sandbox game. :lunar2019smilingpig:

just got giddy like a kid on christmas when i saw it updated. thanks a bunch boss, i literally couldnt get myself to start a new lengthy campaign without it. thank you for all the hard work, and thx to all the translators as well :D

But I don't know if it's just me, but every time I play as the Guiyi Circuit (even with RICE the only mod in playset), the game crashes after choosing any option other than the first one (where you send your uncle to the Tang Court and continue playing as Zhang Huaishen).

@thekidld I don't touch most character's DNA save for a few that I added myself. I strongly do not recommend installing this version of RICE in the middle of a save game, especially since it comes after a major vanilla update, as this can cause unpredictable behavior and issues.

Does this mod affect character DNA? I had a save with created characters and they all lost their DNA after the expansion. Could this mod be affecting this?

@leqwan I forgot if you were the person I talked to about the river travel thing previously but the East Slavic tradition, Land of Towns, does unlock the ability for travel along major rivers, yes.

@bsteltz2 Are you talking about the conqueror trait? I don't do anything related to that as that would require touching vanilla code which I don't do.

Does this mod affect conquer chance I had a game without the mod at 90 percent reduction and had no conquerors with the mod I am constantly having 2 at 90 percent reduction no inheritance chance. I notice chola has one at start but there are random others ones besides him.

@Stephince Thanks for the update!

@CS Thanks for catching that. Tested this on my lunch break and I can reproduce it when I play as Zhang Huaishen and choose the 2nd or 3rd event options that try to switch me to Zhang Yichao. It doesn't happen if I choose the first option to remain playing as Zhang Huaishen or if I'm playing another ruler. It appears the vanilla game changed how the effect to switch player character worked, so it doesn't work like it used to I think.

For now while I figure out a fix, I recommend to choose the first option, or play as a different ruler and then switch over to Guiyi, I haven't encountered the issue that way.

@PandaAlbinos Thanks! I do want to do something for the Caucasus down the line, though I've partly waited as I want the devs to fix up the map there first as from what I know it's not ideal. If you know of it, the Rajas of Asia mod is currently working on some major improvements and additions to the Caucasus region, including Armenia.

@Gef A lot of those catalysts are based on vanilla catalysts, many of which only trigger for landed rulers, and I can't really change a lot of them without modifying vanilla code which I don't do for compatibility reasons. Might be worth giving the devs feedback on the official CK3 discord or the forums if there's others like that.

There is one little oddity that occurs in my games that i'm curious about. When i negotiate the Danelaw the kingdom that is created is called Englaland. Is that a typo in some code somewhere? It's not an issue because I just manually change the name in game.

On the previous versions landless adventurers were considered involved in the Struggle, but their actions didn't impact struggle progress (like using hooks etc.). In Sicily specifically I could only progress the struggle as an adventurer by taking a university decision, but spending hooks, for example, didn't do anything. Is that intentional?

I think the updating was fast, but it felt like forever. Mainly because after playing with RICE CK3 quickly becomes stale without it.

Update to Khans of the Steppe and the Manichean Flavor Pack is out everyone! Thanks all for your patience and understanding.

Remember you may need to unsubscribe and resubscribe for mods to update properly (multiple times if necessary). Please start a new game with this version of RICE, as it comes after a major vanilla patch.

A hotfix or small patch may be out in a week or so to address issues I did not catch.

@Headhunter2 In the updated version the Khitan will be changed to nomad gov't to avoid conflicts with vanilla's new stuff. (The devs have mentioned previously they will give Khitan a unique gov't type in All Under Heaven to represent their situation better thankfully.)

Stopped by github and downloaded a functional version of RICE for 1.16 a few days ago.

Wanted to note that when I hit the end of the pillage dynasty legacy track I encountered a bug: instead of unlocking the 'terrorize' raid intent, that legacy removed the greyed out 'terrorize' and the 'capture' intents from that drop-down menu entirely. (The menu had 2 entries instead of the usual 4.)

I disabled the mod this behavior stopped.

Great mod, I love it, and I love that I saw you make a commit an hour ago even more!

@Headhunter2 I think the mod dev said that the 1.16 version of the mod exists but as a WIP you can get from github, I'm still holding out for the official update for the mod thoughever

I have been playing with the current version of RICE for nearly 100 years in the game, and it still runs without any issues. However, due to the 1.16 version of CK3, the Khitan in 1178 starts as a nomadic regime, which conflicts with the current version of the mod, resulting in the Khitan Khan having no direct territory. This mod has greatly enriched my gameplay experience. I Sincerely hope to know the updated date.

@Chandler I suggest you do the same with VIET, yeah. While I don't think there were major changes between 1.15 and 1.16 for VIET, I still recommend saving the older version of the mod to be safe.

@Ser Noko: It is not updated yet. I strongly advise not running the current version on Steam with the 1.16 version of CK3.

@Chandler: For RICE, I recommend downloading the manual install version of the mod off GitHub (see top of the description for the link). That way you have a version of the mod that will work for 1.15 (make sure you aren't subscribed to the Steam version if you're using the GitHub version so the game doesn't get confused)
