Also in terms of naming suggestions I once made a map which I posted online. Nobody ever complained about something being wrong on it, so I suspect it's okay enough to be used as a reference. Should I post a link or share it somewhere? It might contain a name or two which could be considered.

Hm, something must be wrong, because it should display as "Qart Hadasht"
Argakyan Jul 3, 2024 @ 1:26am
When I load the game with this mod and hover over to Carthage as owned by the faction Carthage, it's still displayed as "City of Carthage in Carthago". Before suggesting name changes I wanted to ask if this is a correct observation?

An MCN version for Terra Indomita has just been released: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3255448130

I like the idea, but it needs more work. For instance, in Judea it has Hevron instead of Hebron, but keeps Bethar. Maybe modern Hebrew pronounces Hebron as Hevron, but then if B changes to V, why not change Bethar to Vethar?

I think that the designers probably had a Roman theme in mind for the game, and so they added some Roman-style features across the board, with names probably being one of them (one of Turkey's northern regions has the Latin word Et in the middle, meaning "And".)

oh ok, thanks for the info!
Great Scott!  [author] Sep 14, 2022 @ 8:08am
The issue has been identified and will be fixed in the next release.
Currently, the only working languages seem to be english and french.
StefanMST Sep 14, 2022 @ 7:05am
Hi there, got the same issue as Wotan. For example Ostia is now named "Prov3_Roman" when the game is run in german
Great Scott!  [author] Jun 29, 2022 @ 12:36pm
I've released a special version for Invictus! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2827761791

@Wotan von Edelsburg I'm not sure what you mean exactly
Wotan von Edelsburg Jun 28, 2022 @ 7:32am
For the German translation it is not permissible, only the Province ID comes out and no name.
Humannumbersomethingtrillion Jun 17, 2022 @ 9:06pm
Are we going to get a version for Invictus?
Great Scott!  [author] Feb 17, 2022 @ 3:32am
I've just released an MCN version that is compatible with Ashes of Empire: Dark Ages / The Last Roman

I likely will, but I don't know when.
Phalanx Nov 28, 2021 @ 4:56am
Do you plan to make an Invictus-compatible version in the future?
萝卜捏白菜 Jul 14, 2021 @ 10:19am
ok,thank you !
Great Scott!  [author] Jul 14, 2021 @ 8:15am
Currently the mod was developed for game languages that use the latin alphabet. So I don't expect it to work with chinese and russian, but you can give it a try.
萝卜捏白菜 Jul 14, 2021 @ 4:14am
thank you !!! Did chinese work?
Great Scott!  [author] May 12, 2021 @ 1:43am
Hmmm, it should take the vanilla names if they are not part of this mod. And for me on a clean install with no other mods this works ok.

Are you using other mods? Can you validate the game files with Steam?

Also, does this happen for ALL provinces, or just some of them?
DJae May 11, 2021 @ 10:56pm
Hi I run into a problem with this mod, the mod changes the names of the provinces that are in the province_name folder, however provinces that arent defined in the mod like PROV4083_Hellenic show up in the game named exactly that, instead of the default base game name, is that a bug or is something wrong with my game, thx
Fallen King Apr 18, 2021 @ 5:09am
Hi, did you find a way to make sure the game selects the proper praenomem by family?
Great Scott!  [author] Apr 10, 2021 @ 11:37am
As long as you make the changes in both places (common/province_names/[files], localization/[files]) and the culture/faction IDs are correct, it should work
Juvenal Apr 8, 2021 @ 2:01pm
@Hori No, i mean i am changing some of the province names with methods you did in your mod. Some of them works while some of them wont. Do you now what causes it?
Great Scott!  [author] Apr 6, 2021 @ 11:31am
@Juvenal do you mean that the mod does not automatically change the name of some provinces?
If so, which province and for which culture?

The coverage is very wide but there are still cases where there simply doesn't exist a name for a province for in a particular language (culture), in which case the default name will remain unchanged.
Juvenal Apr 4, 2021 @ 7:32am
As i try to change some province names, i can manage to change some of them while some stays the same. Can i ask why?
Great Scott!  [author] Mar 26, 2021 @ 3:24pm
yea, unfortunately the only way this can be done is that the name changes only when the city changes ownership
Delendar Mar 26, 2021 @ 12:09pm
Oh, thought it changed how they were until they were conquered, like celts didnt call it londinium.
Great Scott!  [author] Mar 26, 2021 @ 1:24am
@Kornhund it changes province names. It mostly applies to greek, but also some arabic, and a few for the others.
E.g. if you conquer Sarmizegetusa (in Dacia) as a greek, the name will change to Zarmizegethoúsa, Arcidava (also in Dacia) to Argedauon, etc.
There are many new names being added, but since the I:R map is so huge and finding authentic ancient names is very difficult, the changes aren't incredibly noticeable.

Oh and it also changes a handful of the latin names to be more period-accurate.
Delendar Mar 23, 2021 @ 11:08am
I'm honestly not seeing what this mod does. Does it change provincial names, character names? Cause nothing changes at all.
Great Scott!  [author] Mar 6, 2021 @ 6:41am
Updated for game version 2.0.*
Great Scott!  [author] Mar 6, 2021 @ 4:18am
Works with english, french, german and spanish.

The names are the same for all above languages, since they are in neither of those languages, but in classical latin, ancient greek, dacian, etc etc.

Languages with other alphabets are not supported though.
Scotvince Mar 5, 2021 @ 11:03pm
It's only working for english version of the game, right ?
Theodosius Feb 16, 2021 @ 10:47am
will this need to be updated for 2.0?
Great Scott!  [author] Sep 18, 2020 @ 8:53am
Glad to hear it's solved
Puliandro Sep 18, 2020 @ 1:50am
Hi, it was because the mod was not loading properly, I did what PDX recommends when that happens, basically to erase everything within the folder you suggested to force clean and update, not only the mod file and it worked, thank you for your quick answer anyways but it's working properly now
Great Scott!  [author] Sep 17, 2020 @ 11:11am
Bugged in what way? Can you provide some examples so I can take a look?
Puliandro Sep 17, 2020 @ 9:38am
Hello, some territories have their names bugged, some localisation problems, is this related with the manual fix you posted? Because I tried it but it didn't work...
Great Scott!  [author] Sep 15, 2020 @ 12:52pm
NOTE: Steam Workshop is currently bugged and doesn't update the mod correctly.

In order to force-clean and force-update the mod, please delete the following file
- Windows: C:\Users\{{YourUsername}}\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod\ugc_2219177532.mod
- Linux: /home/{{YourUsername}}/.paradoxinteractive/Crusader Kings III/mod/ugc_2219177532.mod

And then launch the game again

I am sorry for this but this is a Steam and/or Paradox Launcher issue that I cannot fix from my end
Great Scott!  [author] Sep 15, 2020 @ 12:07pm
The latest update should fix that error
Please try again
Destroyer 99 Sep 15, 2020 @ 7:17am
The launcher says that this mod doesn't have the descriptor file but I checked and the descriptor file was present
Great Scott!  [author] Sep 10, 2020 @ 9:44am
This new update should be a good one!
I've fixed a lot of titles that were not showing up in game (mostly latin), and added a bunch of new ones (mostly greek)
Constokivepolis Sep 5, 2020 @ 8:01am
hey, I just tried the mod. The effort that has been put into it is immense! I hope you will continue with your work, and keep it updated with IR. Thank you
Great Scott!  [author] Sep 5, 2020 @ 12:31am
Yes, it's a lot of work since finding ancient names is challenging to say the least
But I was able to add quite a few greek names where they were missing
However, they are quite spread across the entirety of Europe so there's not one particular region where you will see a big change.
I also added some dacian/thracian names in modern-day Romania and neighbouring areas, and I plan to add more of those.
Theodosius Sep 4, 2020 @ 5:09pm
which regions or cultures are covered or do you plan to cover? I would imagine this would be a lot of work for this game
Constokivepolis Sep 4, 2020 @ 3:46pm
Great! Thank you
Great Scott!  [author] Sep 4, 2020 @ 12:51pm
No, I updated it for 1.5 today
I have to update the readme on GitHub
Constokivepolis Sep 4, 2020 @ 10:21am
Is the mod only for 1.4 IR as its stated on github?
