This is my favorite ship, but I paste it and no flying takes place. Is NOT a station, It is NOT stuck to the ground. It is a ship, engines rotated vertical as per instructions. tried to lift, there is dust everywhere, engines roar but nothing happens. I have paste it 4 different times. I gave up. If somebody knows what I"m doing wrong, Please chime in!

Shiney!
Well done! :steamhappy:

You Did an amazing job on this! It is Beautiful! I have Taken it apart and recreated it on Xbox SE. Are you ok with me putting it on that workshop? And using it in YouTube videos?
Typhis19 May 3, 2023 @ 7:14pm
Yes Sir! Right smart purchase this vessel! Tell you what. You buy this ship, treat her proper, she'll be with you the rest of your life

I love your ship! As many have said from what I see in the comments, you freakin nailed it!
Thank you so much!

[P.S.]
Definitely recommend a Hydrogen Thruster Efficiency Mod to anyone else wanting to use this as a survival ship, that way you don't have to gut the interior for fuel storage.
Zazussa Nov 23, 2022 @ 2:37am
As a fellow Browncoat, this is beautifully done. Thank you.
condottiere May 30, 2022 @ 1:53am
That would be rad -- you have a great eye for matching the lines of the ship!

You could also replace the kitchen/dining LCD panel light with an actual light panel. FWIW, I remembered the hangar stairs as being closer to single-file from a few Firefly episodes (at least from the shuttle docks), so I compressed the full-width stairs into half-width stairs. In SE terms it might be more playable to keep the full-width stairs though, since any kind of angle in a planetary grav well tends to get the player hung up when trying to walk on half-stairs.

Glad you guys enjoy it! I should really look into redoing the interior with the new armor shapes that have come out since I made this ship.
condottiere May 25, 2022 @ 5:58pm
Works great with Frightfx's endo shuttle, Inara shuttle, and Mule hover cargo ship. Their shuttle designs require thruster damage turned off though. I've rebuilt the Mule to be lighter and use only vanilla atmo, and put a hinge in the Serenity's hangar ceiling; good for recharge, but not piped up with conveyors. The catwalks give access to all the cargo points though. The Mule also works great with Klime's harpoon mod instead of the blast door block claw.

I might try to rework the shuttles for some more PCU/block efficiencies b/c they're kind of PCU-expensive. Only for RP really. Great design though!

I've been cruising around in survival with this ship and still can't get over how well you laid out the interior per source material. I kept the internal dimensions the same, but have extensively replaced ALL the conveyors plus a few light armor floor blocks with either small cargo blocks, O2H2 generators, or small H2 tanks. Added about 16 small H2 tanks, so now it can hover in 1G for about 80 minutes on hydro alone. There are now 63 cargo blocks, or equivalent to approx 2.3 large cargo containers. Not enough up thrust to fly fully loaded in 1G.

One hard hit will vaporize this poor thing, but otherwise it's great for running non-combat jobs around the 'verse.

Hey! Im having alot of trouble connecting the sidepod thrusters with the rotors and its driving me crazy. Rotors dont want to fit in the small hydro tank to the big hydrogen tank when its all fitted if you get what im saying. other then me probably being an idiot , this is an amazing copy of serenity
condottiere Mar 29, 2022 @ 6:59am
Last comment: It even has everything needed to work with Plant and Cook / Eat Drink Sleep Repeat for survival play!
condottiere Mar 29, 2022 @ 6:52am
Also, as much as I have wanted to love Vermilion's vector thrust script for years, Whiplash's method provides more stable gameplay. Great choice!
condottiere Mar 29, 2022 @ 6:46am
This is amazing! For bonus dirty flames and contrails somewhat akin to the movie, consider using Rocket FX by Klime or the modified Rocket FX (different audio), for bigger flames and smoke if you have the graphics card for it.

my hydrogen engines are on but wont burn
NoStinkingBadgers Nov 30, 2021 @ 7:53am
Beautiful ship. I am using it on the Stone Industries server group after making heavy modifications (added a ton of modded items as well as DLC items, so my mod isn't vanilla any more - the hangar gate didn't fit the small mining ship I'm using, so I also stuffed a refinery in the hangar, sorry for the sacriledge). I'm using it for a mining mothership. Thanks!
Mike Dude  [author] Oct 18, 2021 @ 6:31pm
That rotor requires 2 buttons, one is a lock, and other is the reverse direction.
KJAMKC Oct 18, 2021 @ 2:36pm
nice ship , great work but the front door rotor don't work .
tuffych May 15, 2021 @ 9:20pm
Thank you for such a fantastic build that LSG had to do a video on it!

Seriously fantastic, loved the WAY too short series and the movie. This is a CRAZY well detailed replica! 1:1 no joke!

Again, 谢谢你
frightfx May 14, 2021 @ 4:11pm
It has about a small blocks worth on either side. I had another version that used 3 passenger seats and a 3 block wide cockpit, but it was pretty tight. The version I settled on has four 2 block wide cockpits. I had to remove the really cool detail of the lights hanging down from the railing you had to make room, and then I ran a duct out from where the air vent was over the door to the infirmary and reduced it down so there are two pistons pointing down to connect to my hinge. I have the engines on the Mule set to Ignore so Whip's thruster script doesn't override them. I'll post pics of it later on, I'm off to the coast now.
Mike Dude  [author] May 14, 2021 @ 4:05pm
hey nice job! how well does the mule fit through the hangar doors? I tried making one and then adding a mount to the ceiling of the hangar but it was kinda clunky
frightfx May 14, 2021 @ 3:22pm
Hey Mike Dude, I loved your build of the Serenity, and I decided to build some shuttles and a Mule that would fit with your design. I even have a modification shown for retractable attachments on the wings of the ship to pull the shuttles in...
Here is my workshop
Mike Dude  [author] Apr 16, 2021 @ 5:06pm
Maybe but thats kinda the nature of subgrids. Space is definitely going to be better. Best would be to get the Multi Grid Projector plugin from Viktor.
Battleborn85 Apr 16, 2021 @ 8:42am
can this be constructed in 1G? Me and my buddy are having issues getting the port/starboard engines to connect without breaking
Mike Dude  [author] Apr 13, 2021 @ 10:01pm
Thanks! I don't have the shuttles, unfortunately they'd have to be small grid and would stick out a lot due to the way I had to make the gangways to get to those doors to keep them airtight.
The Field Marshal Apr 11, 2021 @ 4:52pm
by far the best looking version on the workshop and an updated version would be awesome so cant wait, also do you by chance have the shuttles to go with it as well?
Bad_SCR Apr 6, 2021 @ 5:15pm
Wow, great BP, Very small in the best way. great ship:steamhappy:
Mike Dude  [author] Apr 3, 2021 @ 5:44pm
I'm working updating it right now. Unfortunately this will fly very poorly without a script because the the thrusters on the engine pods dont work without a script, and they provide most of the thrust needed to accelerate and fly in gravity (in the up position).
Batmans2ndCousin Apr 3, 2021 @ 2:05pm
also have you figured out when you are updating this ?
Batmans2ndCousin Apr 3, 2021 @ 11:01am
My server doesn't allow scripts, is this ship still flyable without the script?
Mike Dude  [author] Mar 16, 2021 @ 7:27am
Thanks! I need to make another pass on this since keen added the new armor slopes and some other interior blocks. I can probably make this look a little nicer now. Also I still need to fix some of the self damaging thrusters.
Schmetterling Mar 16, 2021 @ 12:13am
Incredible! I'm in SHOCK!!! My favorite series, and here in SE you can also build a ship from it. And so well designed.

I just downloaded this and.... i am stunned i have seen some pretty go builds but.... this takes the cake thank you. :steamhappy:

This is the best movie build I have ever seen in SE!!!!

love it
Colony Sep 22, 2020 @ 10:18am
Good call on the script choice, this thing never really used the thrusters in a vectored thrust kind of way, they just turned to put the heavy jets downward for landing, so it seemed...aside from stupid maneuvers of course!
Mike Dude  [author] Sep 12, 2020 @ 9:09am
Interesting, that setup used to work without collision. I guess Keen changed some things that make it no longer work with the new collisions
maggotdc Sep 12, 2020 @ 3:14am
As soon as this get's converted to a ship main engine gets damage from smaller hydrogen thrusters behind it.
Mike Dude  [author] Sep 9, 2020 @ 4:02pm
I put in the top of the description that it spawns as a station
Infiltrationist Sep 9, 2020 @ 10:31am
If you can't move the ship check if its a station. If so, then just convert it back to a ship in the info tab.
CookiesN'Cream Sep 9, 2020 @ 9:29am
I can't turn the ship for some reason when I spawn it. Any suggestions?
Kevin Starwaster Sep 6, 2020 @ 6:36pm
...

Was that the primary buffer panel???
Mikel71 Sep 5, 2020 @ 12:54am
Im blown away, VERY nice
Resh Aug 16, 2020 @ 2:28pm
I loaded this up last year -> https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=339427797&searchtext=outrider

BUT it is very old and had so many mods that I didn't have that it was skeletal and fell apart when I spawned it, so I had to rebuild the entire ship essentially.

Tour -> https://streamable.com/4v3p12

Combat -> https://streamable.com/bptc4o

Anyway thanks again for your input have a good one!

"Textures and light colors go often overlooked but are a massive part to making a ship look good. A mix of the new sci fi armor, and battered armor, along with minimal interior lighting will go a long way. I design all of my ships to be used without player flashlights as flashlights make everything look flat and ugly." I did all this on a YT-2400 I worked on. I love how it turned out.
Resh Aug 16, 2020 @ 12:09pm
@Mike Dude Yeah I hadn't added lights yet. I was more worried about getting the outside armor right first. After the armor is done I'm gonna gut the inside and make more shapes and clutter and use different colors. That's the same video I used as well and am currently playing kotor 2 again lol I just don't know if I'll be able to go with exact interior size. I'm thinking I'll have all the rooms, get their shapes mostly right, decorate add lights and what not.

BUT I probably won't do full SIZE for the interior because it as absolutely as you say, in kotor the inside of the ship is bigger than the outside. 22.5 M is not even close to big enough for the Ebon Hawks interior, so I'll have to make a middle ground size for the interior. That's why some don't do all the rooms in the Ebon Hawks I've seen. Thanks so much for the input!
Mike Dude  [author] Aug 16, 2020 @ 7:23am
I think you have a good layout, however your interior feels like it should be 50% larger to match the scale from videos of the interior from the Ebon Hawk from KOTOR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btmS8t-b90Q . Its only supposed to be 22.5M wide which is only 9 large blocks in width and doesn't feel large enough. It could be a situation where they made the interior bigger than the actual size of the ship just for the game, but that makes it hard to replicate.

Textures and light colors go often overlooked but are a massive part to making a ship look good. A mix of the new sci fi armor, and battered armor, along with minimal interior lighting will go a long way. I design all of my ships to be used without player flashlights as flashlights make everything look flat and ugly.
Resh Aug 15, 2020 @ 4:22pm
Interior is not super important at the moment as I feel more comfortable making it good after I get the outside armor looking good. Then I'll have to decide what mods to use on it for decorating. Maybe start with vanilla until its finished and THEN go back and make a separate version with mods. That would probably be smarter lol
