Von Esling's uniform looks about as Prussian as the modern Bundeswehr dress uniforms, though. And if you want to view the East German uniform depicted as the actual German uniform in this time-line, they would be even less 'Prussian-style' than uniforms of the modern Bundeswehr, as von Esling is supposed to be a general but he doesn't have the characteristic Prussian collar patches, which in altered shape Bundeswehr generals still have (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larisch-Stickerei; https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0b/Generalleutnant_Rainer_Glatz.jpg) .

But then, neither von Esling's jacket nor the shoulder marks match the rank of general of the NVA (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Bundesarchiv_Bild_183-1988-0704-410%2C_Heinz_Ke%C3%9Fler.jpg) .

Von Esling is wearing a more traditional prussian style uniform a la East Germany becuse Hitler never made Prussian uniforms "evil" in western culture or assosiated with Nazism by Germans. So, instead of adopting American style uniforms in the 1950s, the Germans of Red Alert picked the same designer the East Germans did in our timeline.
joescout187 Oct 20, 2022 @ 3:53pm
lol they could have replaced it with an Allied logo at least yea
Jozef  [author] Oct 11, 2022 @ 11:03am
Correct :)
I shouldn't have said 'or whatever', as I know the RL reason. Still, they could've removed the GDR shoulder patch :p
joescout187 Oct 9, 2022 @ 11:29am
The reason why Von Esling is wearing an East German uniform is because East German uniforms were, at the time RA was being made, very cheap and very available at your local surplus store. The NVA had just been dismantled a few years earlier and the newly reunited Federal Republic of Germany was liquidating NVA assets, having gotten a few years to test the ComBlock hardware.

When it comes to crashes seemingly (though not really) caused by this mod, please see this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/18446744073709551615/3449213285565003415/?appid=1213210

It seems like running four mods at the same time causes crashes, regardless of which four mods.
Jozef  [author] Aug 2, 2022 @ 3:41pm
Never mind, they should work swimmingly. I just tested it again, and I could activate one of the colour mods and both the Russian and European voice mods and there weren't any issues.

Once I've installed the game on my laptop, I can download my mods from the Workshop on it to see if the files I've uploaded here somehow aren't functioning, but I doubt it.
Jozef  [author] Aug 2, 2022 @ 3:10pm
'though the colour mods sgo' > though the colour mods should still work even then.
Jozef  [author] Aug 2, 2022 @ 3:08pm
It still works for me. It would be helpful if you actually describe the problem in a bit greater detail, and also list the mods you are using (and try running the game with just this mod activated to check if it's actually the mod that's faulty, or if there's some conflict going in).

It is, however, sadly true that the faction colour mods have stopped functioning in combination with the voice mods, resulting in the game simply using the default voices (though the colour mods sgo). I've looked into it before, and I couldn't find any reason for this to be the case. The mods do entirely different things, and they shouldn't be able to conflict with eachother at all, but for whatever reason they out of nowhere did start conflicting. I'll have a look at it again when I've installed the game on my new laptop, but I'm afraid this is a problem that has been caused by the game devs changing something, which would mean there's little I can do about it.
BlackHand Jul 25, 2022 @ 11:53am
doesn't work anymore I am afraid
Jozef  [author] Mar 22, 2022 @ 12:33pm
Nope. I haven't played this game in quite some time, so I don't intent to make any new mods; besides which, I made this mod because as a kid I thought blue Allied troops and red Soviet ones looked a bit too toy-soldier like. Gold for GDI and silver for Nod looks quite realistic; I always loved the TD colour schemes.

Thanks a lot for the compliment, though :)
Blackwolf Mar 22, 2022 @ 10:20am
i cant say HOW MUCH i love this mod, just recently bought the game and just THIS , made the bought totally worth it, thanks lad, might i ask, do you have plans doing the same treatment for tiberium dawn? (i mean the other c&c included?)
Jozef  [author] Jan 5, 2022 @ 12:03pm
Have you tried running the game with just this mod activated? Do the faction colours work in the campaign?
Brutalist Ape Jan 5, 2022 @ 10:47am
How do I make this work? I have the mod activated in the mod list, but when I go to play a Skirmish, the new colours aren't showing up? Am I missing something? Thanks

"And honestly, these mods are a wish fulfillment of ten-year-old me. Playing RA, I always wanted to play in a more interesting colour scheme. Then, I mainly wanted the Allies to use GDI gold, because I thought that looked gorgeous. It's definitely much nicer playing with these colours :)"

You experience mirrors mine, I always disliked the blue and red and wished the Allies were desert tan like GDI back then. I always picked green in skirmish and multiplayer because I didn't like the bright colors.
「𝕱𝖔𝖝𝖗𝖎𝖈𝖍 Sep 24, 2020 @ 2:55pm
Does this only work in campaign or in skirmish too?
Jozef  [author] Jul 7, 2020 @ 12:41am
Yeah, I noticed the colours in the FMVs as well. I may end up doing something with that.

REH_BlackJack Jul 6, 2020 @ 1:27pm
I like this colour mod of yours the most.
Both Factions have a believable colour scheme. I can no longer play Red Alert without this mod active. The bright blue/red on the map is so off putting now.

Only thing i may have to "criticize":
The colours for the factions are reversed.

If you look at the CGI cutscenes and some of the FMV's, most Allied units use a light or dark brown tone for their units such as infantry, Jeeps, light- and medium tanks.
Meanwhile, most Soviet armour is in a metallic-grey colour.

Idk, something i'd like to point out as a food for thought for your next colour mod, maybe. :lunar2019piginablanket:

''The Allied Barracks now has their Allied blue flag'' Thank you, if make the soviet command center silk and hammer you will be super great.
Jozef  [author] Jun 29, 2020 @ 12:30pm
My latest update changes the following:
- The Allied Barracks now has their Allied blue flag;
- All secondary campaign factions (Germany, Turkey, England, France and Ukraine) are now a markedly lighter shade of their main faction colour; except for Spain, so the faction colour in the ant missions is kept the same;
- Not a change, but included as additional files are variants of the Soviet Forward Command Post: two variants with natural coloured hammers and sickles, one gold and one red. You can manually change this in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1213210\2135294286\JRARFCUV\DATA\ART\TEXTURES\SRGB\RED_ALERT\STRUCTURES.

Note: you may need to unsubscribe and then subscribe again to force Steam to download the update.

If you imagined your gray soldiers to be German, then I have now released a fitting voice pack: Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit , unit voices from the German version of Red Alert.
kostaskladianos Jun 26, 2020 @ 12:38pm
great
Jozef  [author] Jun 26, 2020 @ 3:19am
I've made a guide to colour modding , now you can just do it yourself ;p
kostaskladianos Jun 25, 2020 @ 12:02pm
Great mods as allways, i hope for the soviet command center and the allied flag in the tent.
Jozef  [author] Jun 25, 2020 @ 8:08am
I know, but that doesn't mean I can't make inferences based on it :p
RevanNaut Jun 25, 2020 @ 8:03am
(gray; East German because the Allied general von Esling is, for whatever reason, wearing an East German uniform, so I'm treating East German style uniforms as canon for the German armed forces in RA)

I mean it is Westwood, they probably just got together whatever uniforms that was necessary for filming rather than be "super 100% accurate for realz!" (Plus, it IS a wacky alternative timeline, in universe, after all...)
Jozef  [author] Jun 25, 2020 @ 7:41am
Everyone who wanted green Allies, I've just released my third faction colour mod, Allied Europe !
kostaskladianos Jun 24, 2020 @ 12:50pm
Please......
Jozef  [author] Jun 24, 2020 @ 12:47pm
I was thinking about doing that, and I may :)
kostaskladianos Jun 24, 2020 @ 9:06am
A sagestion....Can you make the silk and hammer to the soviet command center to be red, its nice i thaught, or the allied flag to the allied infantry tent to be the lore blue with a golden eagle? Will be amazing?
Bolty Jun 23, 2020 @ 6:55pm
Cool idea, both of your Green and Tan remind me of the old franchise Army Men where green fights a army of tan soldiers, would you be interested turning these 2 colors into a mod? i cannot find myself how to do such thing, nor find it
Jozef  [author] Jun 23, 2020 @ 1:17pm
Not at the moment. I wouldn't know what to change about TD's colours anyway. Changing the silver multiplayer colour to have red buildings is impossible, I think (at least too hard for me).
Firefly223 Jun 23, 2020 @ 12:01pm
Black Hand, it is. I was just wondering if he planned to do colors in the other game.
Jozef  [author] Jun 22, 2020 @ 1:48pm
Here's a fun glitch for you:

If you were just playing with my mod and noticed the Soviet Barracks convulsing, expanding and contracting like a heart, it was caused by the Barracks tga file names now being in lowercase rather than uppercase. So, before the update, they were BARR-0000 through 0019.TGA in the base game, and now they are barr-0000 through 0019.tga, and if you don't update this in your mod, it causes the Barracks to convulse. That's a rather odd thing to cause a glitch, and a rather odd glitch as well.

Rest assured, I'll be uploading the fix with Barracks filenames properly and orderly in lowercase.
BlackHand Jun 22, 2020 @ 12:45pm
@Alfinzo Porpilini isn't this for Red Alert ?
Firefly223 Jun 22, 2020 @ 12:41pm
I would say that TD in Skirmish has the issue where Nod doesn't have the Red secondary color. If you play Silver - everything is silver.
Jozef  [author] Jun 22, 2020 @ 3:19am
Thank you, that's what I was going for. I have to disagree on RA being bland, though :p
Havoc ((X))// Jun 22, 2020 @ 3:11am
Love your mods Jozef. They so much character and flavour to an otherwise bland 1990s video game.
Jared4Wally Jun 21, 2020 @ 10:27pm
Can you do C&C As Well.
Steel_Fren Jun 21, 2020 @ 6:14pm
Awesome. Thanks!
Cliff.uckingBooth Jun 21, 2020 @ 2:52pm
I was searching for something like this about two days ago! Thank you SO much man ! Now I can pretend Im fighting as INGSOC from the 1984 movie much easier :)) Thanks again.
Jozef  [author] Jun 21, 2020 @ 3:29am
For the campaign, Good and Greece are for the Allies, Bad and USSR for the Soviets. Changing colours is a pain in the ass for this game, though. You need to edit the X and Y values in hsvshift for hue and saturation respectively, and the Z value in InputLevels for darkness. I've not come up with an easy way of converting between these values and regular HSV, though. It's trial and error.
simkas Jun 21, 2020 @ 3:19am
Could you share some info which color values in the CNCRATEAMCOLORS file are for which faction? I'm trying to make my own color mix but I have a hard time understanding which part is which in that file.
Jozef  [author] Jun 21, 2020 @ 2:43am
I've just added these faction colours to skirmish.
Jozef  [author] Jun 20, 2020 @ 12:33pm
I'll answer this question in the comment section of my voice mod.
kostaskladianos Jun 20, 2020 @ 12:26pm
Can give and some greek voice in the allies?
Jozef  [author] Jun 20, 2020 @ 12:18pm
I've made my first voice mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2136367560

Instead of just German voices, it also gives the Allies French and Spanish ones. I'm also working on a Russian voice mod, which I'm counting on will be compatible with this European one. However, that requires more work because there aren't any Russian voices for RA (I think, at least), so that may take a while.
Jozef  [author] Jun 20, 2020 @ 5:30am
Of course, but I have to use a single colour for the faction. I went with Germany because it's one of the main theatres in the game and the main Allied general, von Esling, is German.
