Jozef's RA Realistic Faction Colours - Uniform Version

Jozef's Realistic Faction Colours Collection

Description
Changes the faction colours to be more analogous to actual uniforms from both sides. The Soviets are now a tan colour, and the Allies get the East German Steingrau (gray; East German because the Allied general von Esling is, for whatever reason, wearing an East German uniform, so I'm treating East German style uniforms as canon for the German armed forces in RA). Also changes the Soviet Barracks sprite to keep its flag red.

This mod doesn't use a dll file, meaning it should be compatible with any mod that doesn't change CNCRATEAMCOLORS.XML or the art files of the Soviet Barracks.

Alternative colour options can be found in my Realistic Faction Colours Collection.

Also check out my voice mods: Voices of Europe adds German, French and Spanish voices to the Allied units, the Motherland Calls adds Russian voices to the Soviet units, Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit adds German voices for the Allies and La République nous appelle! adds French ones.

Also available as a download from ModDB.

Von Esling's uniform looks about as Prussian as the modern Bundeswehr dress uniforms, though. And if you want to view the East German uniform depicted as the actual German uniform in this time-line, they would be even less 'Prussian-style' than uniforms of the modern Bundeswehr, as von Esling is supposed to be a general but he doesn't have the characteristic Prussian collar patches, which in altered shape Bundeswehr generals still have (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larisch-Stickerei; https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0b/Generalleutnant_Rainer_Glatz.jpg) .

But then, neither von Esling's jacket nor the shoulder marks match the rank of general of the NVA (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Bundesarchiv_Bild_183-1988-0704-410%2C_Heinz_Ke%C3%9Fler.jpg) .

Von Esling is wearing a more traditional prussian style uniform a la East Germany becuse Hitler never made Prussian uniforms "evil" in western culture or assosiated with Nazism by Germans. So, instead of adopting American style uniforms in the 1950s, the Germans of Red Alert picked the same designer the East Germans did in our timeline.

lol they could have replaced it with an Allied logo at least yea

Correct :)
I shouldn't have said 'or whatever', as I know the RL reason. Still, they could've removed the GDR shoulder patch :p

The reason why Von Esling is wearing an East German uniform is because East German uniforms were, at the time RA was being made, very cheap and very available at your local surplus store. The NVA had just been dismantled a few years earlier and the newly reunited Federal Republic of Germany was liquidating NVA assets, having gotten a few years to test the ComBlock hardware.

When it comes to crashes seemingly (though not really) caused by this mod, please see this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/18446744073709551615/3449213285565003415/?appid=1213210

It seems like running four mods at the same time causes crashes, regardless of which four mods.

Never mind, they should work swimmingly. I just tested it again, and I could activate one of the colour mods and both the Russian and European voice mods and there weren't any issues.

Once I've installed the game on my laptop, I can download my mods from the Workshop on it to see if the files I've uploaded here somehow aren't functioning, but I doubt it.

'though the colour mods sgo' > though the colour mods should still work even then.

It still works for me. It would be helpful if you actually describe the problem in a bit greater detail, and also list the mods you are using (and try running the game with just this mod activated to check if it's actually the mod that's faulty, or if there's some conflict going in).

It is, however, sadly true that the faction colour mods have stopped functioning in combination with the voice mods, resulting in the game simply using the default voices (though the colour mods sgo). I've looked into it before, and I couldn't find any reason for this to be the case. The mods do entirely different things, and they shouldn't be able to conflict with eachother at all, but for whatever reason they out of nowhere did start conflicting. I'll have a look at it again when I've installed the game on my new laptop, but I'm afraid this is a problem that has been caused by the game devs changing something, which would mean there's little I can do about it.
