Can't seem to download mod, keeps returning with "Failed to update mod" and folder name of "ws_2112805973". XwX

The developers of the game said in the last video that they will sign some mods, cosmetic, quality of life, so that they do not cause the inscription "modified" and work with ventures. I really love your mod, would you like to ask the developers for a signature when this possibility takes place? I would love to play a vanilla game with your mod.

Display distance changes aren't complicated, but would require a special variant of this mod and I don't plan to make/support one.

For discussing asteroid graphics or similar issues, I recommend using the egosoft discord for a better chance at getting to talk to someone knowledgeable.

Yep same issue.. This mod is causing the Beta update to now crash out.

Something must have changed in the newest beta related to shaders. The mod make the game crash at launch.

Updated with a fix. The issue was that asteroids in 5.0 use a shader that doesn't have IO_world_pos defined, which I was using to calculate distance.

This mod will not work with 5.0 due to changes on how shaders are compiled.

+1 Can confirm it crashes in a repeatable way in 5 RC1. Either when you change sectors to one including asteroids or by loading into a save where you are already in one. Debug gives out similar output than the old "Physical device lost" bug, so it somehow stucks the GPU.

Hi SirNukes! Thanks for the great mod. Just wanna let you know that in current beta 4 the game crushes when you get closer to asteroid fields, seemingly the moment they must appear, no other mods enabled.

Fixed, hopefully. I regenerated the files and am not seeing any problems in brief testing.

So this mod used to work fine, but now enabling it causes all asteroids to disappear. I do have VRO enabled, but I can't imagine how that would impact this..

Just tested it out in a new save file and wow this is awesome!

Would it be possible to apply the same effect to capital ship LOD models and increase their range as well?

Sometimes people convince themselves some goal would be really hard or impossible and so don't even try, when it really is achievable and maybe even easy. As to the details, track down the thread on the egosoft forums for a github link to the source code that generates this extension if you want the nitty gritty.

This post from linolafett implied that it wasn't possible / very difficult to fade asteroids and increase their display distance.
How did you achieve that ?
