@Mialu: Like the description suggests, use the mod "Path Avoid" to mark locations you don't want to be turned into packed earth.
Mialu Dec 17, 2024 @ 2:07pm

Это что еще за половая тряпка на превьюшке?

Я бы заменил её базированным триколором окрещенным в православной русской церкви.

this is one of my favorite mods. I always end up paving their dirt paths :)
AbbyTheFoxx May 17, 2024 @ 6:00pm
Hope this gets updated, reverted to 1.4 to try it out and I love it ^^
lol May 9, 2024 @ 8:46am
1.5 would be great with this
Cheet4h Apr 19, 2024 @ 3:08pm
@Eddy: When you use PathAvoid to set areas to avoid (e.g.: fields), then they don't avoid that area altogether. Instead they avoid that area, as long as they can find another decent way around it. If they need to enter the field for their tasks, they still will do so. Usually that doesn't end up trampling the fields.
inactivated Apr 14, 2024 @ 2:16am
crossing my fingers this gets updated for 1.5
Eddy63 Feb 16, 2024 @ 6:40am
@thesimpledude42 setting paths inbetween your feelds will make field space usage rather inefficient. Also when you set only the path inbetween field as "allowed", will they even be able to interact with the crops? Since they are not allowed area anymore.
TheSimpleDude42 Feb 16, 2024 @ 6:06am
This mod is only usefull if you play along path avoid, locks, trade spot. You can set specific path to avoid stepping on crops like making a 2x(whatever 2 or 8) plot and having your pawns walk between farm tiles, locking doors from visitors and making specific "trade halls" or spots etc. You just need as bit of creativity.
Eddy63 Feb 14, 2024 @ 4:56am
eh, isn't every farmer going on the fields then killing fertility in the long run?
何毁酱 Jan 28, 2024 @ 2:04pm
这个mod会会把耕地踩坏,别打

ty for the warnings guys

sometimes just the one mod i use on my playthroughs, solves vanilla path finding and tbh works super well. Gotta reccomend, no reason to not have it in any of your modpacks

WARNING : This mod is impossible to completely remove from a save as it breaks a lot of things on the map. It's extremely destructive and doesn't really help much. and it an and WILL destroy valuable farmland, Unique structures and more. I heartily reccomend you never ever install this mod.
bingle Aug 5, 2023 @ 2:31am
Also appears that unsubscribing doesn't remove the functionality from an active save.

Instead you can go Esc -> Mod Options -> Desire Paths and increase thresholds to the maximum and hope it never happens again i guess.
bingle Aug 5, 2023 @ 2:19am
Sounds great, works great, but unexpectedly makes farm & unique tree management a nightmare.
Visitors can just walk around your anima tree to destroy it by creating packed dirt under it.
I can understand crops from a realistic viewpoint but trees??

Might sound off-putting but I think people would be less irked by these mechanics if this page included a warning in bold to the tone of

"WITH THIS MOD CARAVANS CAN AND WILL DESTROY YOUR CROPS AND ANIMA TREE IF YOU DONT BUILD THEM IN THE RIGHT PLACE"

I think I'd understand and appreciate this design choice if it was that much clearer from the start.
Had to repeatedly load a save around the point my dryad tree died to understand why that happened
TwylightPhoenix Jul 7, 2023 @ 10:47am
I love this mod but one thing that ercs me is when i forget to put the trade area away from my farm. the wondering traders just trample all my devil strand and they wonder why I killed them all.
StarlightSovereign May 12, 2023 @ 5:50pm
I would really like an option where you can have this mod not turn Rich Soil into desire paths.
I keep having my fields turn to packed dirt because of the farmers walking on them to sow and harvest :c
AdmiralTigerclaw May 3, 2023 @ 2:01pm
@Prophet Of Merci

That is actually the mod working as intended. Or have you never seen a pasture IRL before? Gates and barn entrances in particular exist in one of two quantum states:

A: Packed dirt.
B: Mud.

And depending on the traffic, those areas often extend in wide arcs into the pasture.

You're going to have to do a few things.
1 - Make your pens HUGE.
2 - Make multiple pens so you can swap.
3 - Make your animal feed growing area its own area.
4 - Make multiple entrancy and exit pathways for your animals to go to pasture out of their sleeping area (Barn).
5 - Actually manage your animals and animal population more directly.
Prophet Of Merci May 2, 2023 @ 4:09pm
Another issue with this mod. I keep my animals in Pens with a farm within it full of efficient and fast growing grass to keep the animals fed.

With this mod installed, the animals will trample the grass and despawn any farm tiles that turn into packed dirt.

Forcing you to retill the dirt and replant, possibly for the plant to be packed again.
harleybop Apr 28, 2023 @ 10:24pm
Is this mod safe to remove midgame? It keeps killing my anima trees :/
Muad'dib Apr 8, 2023 @ 5:57pm
Any way to remove from game after a while of playing? I just realized that the animals are destroying their grass.
Beredor Apr 6, 2023 @ 7:30am
Maybe your leader shouldn't have been bombing the Donbass for 6 years straight and cuddling with America.
Jetharius Mar 9, 2023 @ 11:02pm
Mod has a silly interaction with meditation spots for anima trees. Pawns standing and using a meditation spot still create packed dirt killing the anima grass. Makes naturalist meditation stupid without having to find ways to prevent anima grass from trying to spawn on the packed dirt tiles... which it will... then get trampled.
Kasa Mar 4, 2023 @ 6:36pm
Same issues as others have stated, neat mod but it will end up with your farmland turning into packed dirt.
hottt3 Feb 6, 2023 @ 4:56am
My snow paths clearing speed is stack on 20% in options. I can't change it to default value 50%. And there's no button to revert to default values. I even tried to change it in .xml file in config folder, but it still reverts to 0.2! Thanks)
Teusdv Jan 14, 2023 @ 10:56am
@alexander the great, maybe a mod that daily set the pen open for a time them shuts it ?
Alexander The Great Jan 14, 2023 @ 10:03am
@Teusdv I used to think like this as well

till I looked around our swiss farmlands
all the horses and cows usually live in pens that are mixed with earth (dirt n hay) and stuff,

then we just release them into the field of grass to eat, and back in they go.

same i do now in rimworld,
a tiny pen for them to stay, then I HOLD DOOR OPEN so they can graze, and back in they go.
Teusdv Jan 9, 2023 @ 6:08pm
option to disable it for animals? it fucks up pens growing zones
Cernunnos Dec 28, 2022 @ 1:07pm
Decent mod overall but it's just not worth using unless you want your farmland turning into unusable packed dirt, I turned it off in the settings and it still kept turning back into packed dirt.
lol Dec 7, 2022 @ 12:38am
"@Woowookins You could use any of the mods that put a spot where caravan stays, there's a few. For example https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2874517333&searchtext=trading+spot
Woowookins Nov 28, 2022 @ 11:20am
This looks amazing, but the comments makes me think I should await a rework of sorts?
Perhaps don't make all types of soil able to be trampled? Or make it not do anything in Growing Zones?
lol Nov 22, 2022 @ 12:45pm
This sometimes causes pawns to freeze in place. Possibly conflict with Vanilla Expanded Framework or some mods depending on that. Also, the free smoothed stone feels a bit cheaty.

However, overall it's a beautiful mod.
Depresso-dono Nov 13, 2022 @ 5:53pm
Kinda same as what the last comment is, trade caravan showed up, proceeded to trample the majority of my rich soil farm land into pack dirt
kobold that bites people Nov 11, 2022 @ 6:35pm
kinda salty rn, entire caravan showed up, collectively stomped my anima tree to death, then left...
i love the idea of this, but in practice every time i try i either end up with random crops dying from farmers pathing to the crops, or caravans picking the exact worst possible place on the entire map to do their 24 hour stomping sessions...
gonna ditch this for now, but if there's ever a way to prevent the paths from killing plants (especially trees) then i'd gladly give it another try.
Erazil Oct 22, 2022 @ 11:54pm
I can only hope that someone will "quickly" take over the maintenance of the Avoid Path mod because without it the Desire Path mod becomes problematic to use (for the fields for example) which is a pity because I like this mod a lot.
Mockingcrow Oct 22, 2022 @ 7:40pm
Just FYI, KV is dropping out of the modding scene and not updating her mods. At the time of this post, there is no path-avoid for 1.4.

Trading Spot has a forked version though.

This mod is amazing! :cleandino:
Nomenclature Oct 14, 2022 @ 9:11pm
I'm still seeing the issue pointed out in Inglix's comment from Dec 17, 2021.

Which seems odd because the mod has been updated since than and it really breaks the options UI so I would think people would still be posting about it. I wonder if there is some issue on my end somehow?
Meakin Sep 1, 2022 @ 3:05pm
Does this mod impact the ability for anima grass to grow...? I've just noticed a herd of very deadly animals have decided to make my anima tree their new home and I'm not sure if it might end up crippling the ability for anima grass to grow....
Panacea Jul 20, 2022 @ 2:57pm
Both of those mods have been around for awhile and are being kept up by Mlie in some cases. My modlist is stupid big at just under 500 mods and II haven't these mods to interfere with anything.

Hope it helps!
