Well it's a shame, but to be expected. We can't expect people to play/mod Rimworld forever. After watching mods that I use fall off update, after update, I've kinda gotten used to it.

omg.. i cant belive it, such a important mainstay of a mod.. gone like that.. the rimworld devs should have implemented this tech looooong ago, or paid you, or somthing.. maaaaan now i am upset, currently going through my modlist after not having played for a few years.. and this IS and always has been one of the most valueable mods for Rimworld, were ever you are in the world GIGACHAD modder boss man/gal, hope you know your valued highly by a random person on the internet..:saddeer:
Togie_ Aug 20 @ 7:08am
@Balthazad that temp mod you linked has a lot of comments complaining about issues, and the creator's steam name is quite sketchy imo. Just putting that out there before people download that one...
MerlinCross Aug 16 @ 10:12pm
Look I'm just glad you worked on the mod for this long, I've seen other mods over the years just completely vanish or the mod authors get into fights with themselves or the community.

So I just want to leave this post as appreciation for all the work you've already given us with this mod. Hope things stay amazing for you.
L. Velociraptor Aug 14 @ 9:45pm
I'm a software engineer and the intercompatibility expected of Rimworld mods by users honestly is what keeps me from making anything other than small local mods for personal use. I can handle maintaining things for myself and only have myself to disappoint, so there's relatively no risk of burnout.

It's a lot to think about how much pressure some of the more prolific modders may be under, so I really respect you for making the best decision for yourself and your mental health.

Burnout sucks, said from professional experience. I really enjoyed your mods while you were making them @codeoptimist, so thanks for all the good times and I hope you're doing a bit better these days. I hope you actually get to enjoy Rimworld these days! :p2cube:
Balthazad Aug 9 @ 4:21pm
burnout is evil, i hope you get better & recommend relaxing headmassages
DragonZephyr Aug 4 @ 1:31pm
Well damn if you are burned out you are burned out. Hope you can get something fun done instead then!

Just another person wishing for a 1.6 update. <3
Benjamin the Rogue Aug 2 @ 6:45pm
This is what kept Rimworld functional as a game for me for years. Thanks for the work.
ArmoredStone Jul 31 @ 7:49pm
+1 for update wishes :)
Sepon Jul 31 @ 4:30am
Man, this one and PUAH are must have for big maps with a lot of walking
BloodyTwin Jul 29 @ 6:37pm
@codeoptimist I'd rather uninstall other mods if it meant yours worked, I hope to see 1.6 out. Thanks for your efforts from one Tech worker to another it seems
Wedge Jul 28 @ 1:35pm
@Pych don't hold your breath we've been waiting for hauling QoL for ages now or they'll just do it poorly.
Kalindigo Jul 27 @ 7:49am
Going through my modlist trying to figure out why my pawns arent hauling the way they used to... maybe I found the problem. I dont have this on. LOL
Hope to see 1.6 soon! Its definitely a must have addon! Thank you Codeoptimist!
Jixxor Jul 27 @ 4:13am
This is how the game should work out of the box. Eternally grateful for modders like you who allow this game to draw out much more of its potential. Take all the time you need.
ThelianTech Jul 26 @ 7:37pm
@CodeOptimist, your work is valued and though I have limited modding exp with different games in the past, a lil C# for ECO modding, I too can understand the frustration. I wish you the best of luck with the development, and relax give yourself some breaks, solo projects are a pain develop when you cant time sink a month back to back directly into the project, Post it when its ready. We will all be here waiting patiently.
Latex Santa Jul 26 @ 7:41am
@Pych
Yeah, but they'll make a mess of it and nerf it, just like the Replace mod.
Pych Jul 25 @ 11:51am
Let's hope this gets integrated in Vanilla for the next DLC. It should have been done a long time ago. Such a game changer.

I forget about such great mods, until I'm forced to suffer without them while waiting for an update. Amazing mod.
Jarrod Jul 22 @ 4:55pm
This mod is one of the biggest QOL mods and I'm surprised it still hasn't been implemented in Vanilla.

Also FYI to the others here, asking for an update is not "demanding". You don't need a huge message saying how thankful you are just to mention how you're interested in an update. Stop assuming the worst out of otherwise innocent people.

That being said, I and many others are looking forward to the future of this mod, and the author can take as much time as they need, everyone has lives.
A7Ranger Jul 22 @ 9:41am
Waiting patiently for this one :luv:
Jysethia Jul 22 @ 5:27am
This is one of the best QOL mods I've seen, so thank you for making it and even planning on updating it! Will be waiting patiently for the update!
Jaime RoosBot Jul 19 @ 4:54pm
@codeoptimist thanks a lot for the effort you've put into this :D

Thank you for the hard work.

I hear tipping the modder is more effective than rudely saying "update please" ,
I strongly agree

Ralathar44 Jul 16 @ 8:12pm
@codeoptimist thanks for all your hard work. Work at your own speed and ignore the netizens, anonymity and the internet brings out the worst in otherwise regular people.

If you ever feel overwhelmed enough just put the mod up for adoption for others to update, maybe even drop by the discord to let people know its up for adoption. You don't owe anyone anything, do what's right for you.
Excirial Jul 16 @ 4:37pm
@codeoptimist: As others have already said, thank you very much for your modding work over the past years. It's often too easy to just take the availability of good mods for granted, without acknowledging the amount of work and time the mod creator has to put into developing and maintaining the mod. Seeing the vitriol over what's essentially someone working hard (And without remuneration) to improve their mod is just downright galling. It's not a surprise at all this kind of bull saps a mod creators will to continue their mod work.

The selfish part of me hopes you may (re)consider remaining in the modding scene. While You're Up always offered a great balance between "Pawns feeling intelligent while hauling" and "Not feeling overly cheaty by hauling more" so i would be sad to see it die. But even if not i can only salute you for saving me many proverbial grey hairs over the years trying to get my pawns to behave more intelligently than a fruit fly.
thenightgaunt Jul 16 @ 3:54pm
@codeoptimist Thank you for all the hard work you've put in with this mod. I really appreciate it and wanted to say thank you.
Xane Tempest Jul 16 @ 2:27pm
@codeoptimist Yep, another ravenous consumer here clawing at the walls of your sanity growling "update wheeeeeeeen?" while adding nothing of use...
That said, I want to thank you for making this mod in the first place. The code went way over my head so long ago, but I've never stopped feeling grateful that amazing (and downright ESSENTIAL) mods like this have been made! I wish you all the best in the future... now, time to go back to mindlessly demanding more from unfairly overworked modders...
Sundanian Jul 16 @ 11:14am
@codeoptimist perhaps it would be good to have a co-developer? Teemo made a forked PUAH for 1.6, after the whole thing with the PUAH developer. Maybe your great v5 ideas can come to fruition in the fork?
In Vitriol Jul 16 @ 11:09am
Thank you for your work, over 5yrs of it!

I follow a few of the most important mods; with dismay, I see the rudeness and demands, and it occurs to me that If people donated 1 small coffee or whatever, the modding sphere would be a much healthier space.

If you donated even £1 a yr to your fav mods, that would go a long way to making sure they were worked on. (Look at the current subscribers)
codeoptimist  [author] Jul 16 @ 9:30am
The kind words are very helpful, thank you.

@Jiopaba, well that triggered the writeup.... but that was just 24 hours and a few people. I've been overwhelmed by how much Harmony modding sucks because of the shifting compatibility hellscape for a year or two or three. 😅 Getting something that works excellently for vanilla and a few major mods is already months of work.

I do still have that beta to release, I'll see if I can make it v1.6 compatible. (Its only initial goal will be testing/excellence with vanilla and its included version of Pick Up And Haul, and perhaps slowly, SLOWLY, I can work on fresh compatibility issues with other mods.)

Just wanted to show my appreciation for your mod. Been using it for a very long time and they are one of my staple mods.
A7Ranger Jul 14 @ 8:21am
Our deepest love and gratitude, modders and codeoptimist! We will always enjoy your support to this day, no matter how unknown and unheard your actions behind the scene was, deep down, we wouldn't be playing these games without your mods, so thank you again :luv:
Kathars1s Jul 13 @ 5:55pm
Thanks for everything over the years. The mod has been wonderful to use.
Jiopaba Jul 13 @ 5:12pm
@FubarXS not at all. There haven't been any real significant improvements to hauling in the base game, everyone is just commenting because CodeOptimist got overwhelmed with negative feedback after releasing an unpopular update that had some problems. It's since been reverted, but I think the general mood is encouraging CO to take their time and not stress too much about what a bunch of nerds on the Steam Workshop think.
IpetronI Jul 13 @ 11:04am
ty for your good work <3 love from germany
FubarXS Jul 13 @ 1:52am
I just want to confirm — based on the comments, is this mod no longer needed?

Does that also apply to the Pick Up And Haul mod?

Go, enjoy your life and thank you.

Thank you for all the work you did on this mod.
Darian Stephens Jul 12 @ 3:57am
Was the beta ever re-released? That was the update which got me using this mod in the first place, and I loved it so much that I added PUAH when it got reverted just to keep this.
TAWM Jul 12 @ 3:00am
Today I noticed that version 1.6 of the game seems to have incorporated some features of that mod. My pawn, despite having hauling disabled, picked up some steel on the way to bed...
