Nif  [author] Jul 21, 2021 @ 10:53am
I plan to get back to Rimworld at one point this year. I may update and post mods again but I can't promise anything. For now, try this version:

1.3 UPDATE
Xuya May 27, 2021 @ 6:06am
When will the 1.2 patch come? Want to play this mod absolutely!
Nif  [author] Dec 22, 2020 @ 1:40am
I'm taking an indefinite hiatus as I'm getting more busier with life, especially college. You are free to modify and post the mod. Thank you for the support!

@Nif

Update for 1.2 please. Thanks.

Please update! I need my fences!

Nif  [author] Mar 26, 2020 @ 8:53pm
@The Bard of Hearts

That occurs due to the fence being Standable or PassThrough. I just used the base program of doors on it, which is the reason why it happens.

Overhaul for the mod should be close. March 30 was my intended time, but due to some unforeseen texture problems, I might move around April 5.

@Vats
Overhaul should have that covered.
The Bard of Hearts Mar 26, 2020 @ 5:02pm
So.... after all this time, the fence gates STILL don't face the proper direction??? We just tried it again with the farm gate. The horizontal goes down horizontal and the the "vertical" goes down horizontal. So.... We made sure their were fence pieces in the proper formations both before and AFTER making the gate and neither way works.

+1 for Vats suggestion. That does seem extremely weird.
Vats Mar 19, 2020 @ 10:36am
Please consider adding technology constraints for the fences: e.g.
- farm and picket enabled by default
- closeboard, solid behind complex furniture
- brick fences behind stonecutting
- bar behind smithing
- chainlink behind machining

It feels a bit awkward to see my tribals being able to build chainlink fences by default.
Aurelia Mar 18, 2020 @ 9:46pm
Oh, thanks - I'll wait til then, it'll be nice.
Nif  [author] Mar 18, 2020 @ 9:27pm
@[TRR] Aurelian

I've already implemented that in the overhaul's settings. Hopefully, if things go smoothly, I can release it before the end of the month.
Aurelia Mar 18, 2020 @ 12:27pm
Sorry if it's already been asked, but could it be made so you can build fences over things like mud? Dunno if you already have something for marsh, but if not that too.

If anyone is interested, I'm mostly doing mod update news on my Ko-fi:

Nif  [author] Mar 13, 2020 @ 11:43am
@Doc Savage

I've separated any additional content so most of everything new will be optional. The only change the overhaul has are mostly textures and fixes (like gates) that I wasn't able to fix on this one. Though one negative thing about the overhaul: 1.0 won't have settings. Settings for the overhaul relies on ToolBox, which is only for 1.1.
Nif  [author] Mar 13, 2020 @ 11:38am
@Barbara

It took longer than expected, but I've made a solution for that problem:

It's called Thing Begone! It a setting that lets you hide ThingDefs.
Doc Savage Mar 12, 2020 @ 1:50am
I like the tab version. The 8 fences are perfect, all have specific uses. It's one of those pucker up and hope nothing changes as I have zero desire to mess with github or any other outside source to make a mod myself.

The textures also seem fine. I'm a perfectionist in my own endeavors, so I guess I can't fault wanting to do them again to "fix" them.

Can't help but feel this will be one of those mods that I eventually have to drop because the author kept complicating and fixing it to death and made it worse in the end.

My apologies for being the voice of opposition. I do look forward to what you come up with but also nope you remember us outlier folk that prefer simple add on parts vs big sweeping time sucks that have you pouring over 100 squares trying to find that one gate you know is in there...

Cheers..!
Barba Mar 11, 2020 @ 11:16am
I think it would be nice to be able to enable or disable each fence in the settings screen. I believe that 8 types of fences and gates are a lot, even in the version where the fences are on a separate tab. I wish I could keep only 2 types, one metallic and one wooden. Thanks!

I've just released a new mod called ToolBox. It won't be much use for regular players and is focused to help modders make mod settings.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2016186459

This mod will support many other mods I'll be making in the future.

As for news about the overhaul: I'll be retexturing most of the fences. It feels a bit too detailed for Vanilla. Though, I will make a patch for the old textures, for anyone who prefers them. I will also make a repository in Github that will contain all the fences I will make. You can then choose the ones you only want. There will be a guide to help you.

@nif you're awesome, thank you so much
Nif  [author] Mar 2, 2020 @ 8:33am
@WeirdChamp

Yea, they're from the Vanilla Furniture Expanded mod. You can check the Contents category of that mod's description to see.

@nif thank you so much for replying! but I actually meant the next picture, the lamps next to the turrets, sorry for bothering you
Nif  [author] Mar 2, 2020 @ 8:06am
@WeirdChamp

It's from the Vanilla Furniture Expanded. There's a link in the recommended section.
Belteshazzar Mar 2, 2020 @ 7:37am
are those outdoor lamps in the 3rd picture vanilla or from a mod?
abbelsap Feb 27, 2020 @ 4:22am
Thanks Nif! :D

@abbelsap

Updated!
Far-Seeker Feb 26, 2020 @ 8:17pm
@amthonys, it depends on the height. Most fences are less than a full story tall.
amthonys Feb 26, 2020 @ 1:09pm
wouldn't a brick fence be a wall???
abbelsap Feb 25, 2020 @ 6:29am
Could u perhaps provide an updated Github link? :)
typographie Feb 22, 2020 @ 12:24pm
Sorry about your update troubles. Thanks for the quick rollback and fixes.

»Minor update (v1.5.9) [02/22/20]
-Fixed 1.0 incompatibility.
-Once again compatible with 1.1
Nif  [author] Feb 21, 2020 @ 9:35pm
@Dennis

Just changed the code, which was a definite wrong move. I've fixed it already tho, just not updating right now. That being said, the Vanilla Fences (Fence tab) has been fixed and updated with 1.1 compatibility. I'm just waiting for any bug reports on that side before updating this one.
Dennis Feb 21, 2020 @ 8:29pm
Did you use a separate folder for the 1.1 assemblies? Or did you change the code for 1.0?
Nif  [author] Feb 21, 2020 @ 6:05pm
Did a rollback. I'll update to 1.1 once I've fixed the problems. Again, I'm sorry for any problems that it had caused.
Nif  [author] Feb 21, 2020 @ 2:31pm
In the meantime, please avoid opening savefiles that used the mod.
Nif  [author] Feb 21, 2020 @ 2:23pm
Fk. I did a big oof. Very sorry. I'll get this fixed after our test today.

Can confirm @frame. Once I removed the mod, my save game started working again.

+1 .. game started going nuts, breaking a number of mods and saves wouldn't properly load. Then I disabled this mod and everything went back to normal.
